posted on January 1, 2001 09:34:06 AMThe information flow is too one-way here. You're telegraphing too much to AD, *especially* if the very worst of the "scam scenarios" prove to be close to the truth.
Scammers know it's a scam all along.
The rest of us don't.
In a fully informed world, scammers wouldn't get very far.
Thus, scams should be exposed as quickly and publickly as possible. The fact that the scammer might go into hiding sooner rather than later in no way exceeds the value to those who avoid the scam due to the publicity.

Absolutely in agreement with Sg (did "I" say that?)
We have amassed so much information about this irresponsible company THROUGH this effort here on AW, that we are sure he will be picked up and closed down very soon.
The Law, the media, and even the people in his town now know about him, and where he lives, etc.
I bet he even gets funny looks when he go's to the store.
His towns newspaper has a forum about him.
The place where his mail is delivered knows about him.
His bank knows about him.
His local police, and the towns folk know about him.
He can't hide!
We have been able to stop many others from falling prey to him as well.

I have to agree with sg52 also. But in saying that, I do not believe this guy set out to scam anyone, I do believe he is in over his head and doesn't know how to deal with it.
Any one can go to the UPS tracking site and track the numbers posted in the previous auctions and see that there has been a lot of computers delievered. Indead, there have been several people on this board that have recieved computers.
However, because he refuses to comunicate with his customers and is extremely late with his deliveries he is now bordering on fraud and or thieft by deception.
The USPS requires a waiting period of 60 days before it will investigate mail fraud, the 60 days are nearly up. If you payed with mail related payment, money order, check, cash, ect., he has cashed the check, and you have proof, the USPS can and will prosicute.
I believe Pocono stated earlier in this thread that the average consumer can be very patient as long as there is adequate communication and reason, I can't speak for everyone but I would have to agree with this.
Until tommorrow, (the end of 60 days) Alien is only guilty of biting off a bigger piece of pie than he can chew, however when his 60 days is up, the situation changes.
Alien if you are still reading this board, I strongly urge you to respond to it.
I have been fortunate in life and have never had to be a part of sending anyone to jail, and I really don't won't to be a part of it now. However Alien if you won't come out and defend youself, I have no choice but to think you are stealing from me.

medi: I agree with some of what you say, that he may not have STARTED OUT to defraud, but by his actions SINCE this fiasco started, he certainly DOES intend to do it now.
The ALIEN DISTRIBUTION COMPANY has shucked and jived by changing names, using various names both personally and on auction sites, has phoney addresses set up, made false claims and outright lies about having "Three Manufacturing Facilities" (which in translation is a broken down shack, and two PO boxes), and has refused to answer anyones phone calls, letters, post's, etc., yet they CONTINUE to post auctions, and BUY on various auction sites.
The ALIEN DISTRIBUTION COMPANY has ducked, dodged, lied, and scammed long enough.
It's time to shut them down, and send the person responsible to the big house.
From what I hear, it is a much better place then the rat-infested, broken down, roach hole of a house that they operate out of now.
No more Yahoo auctions, but no feedback yet from those who paid $$$ before Christmas for PCs. The only feedback in Yahoo is for cheap items (under $3) and even those were noted for slow shipping.

I recieved my speakers on wed. of last week(Dec 27th). NO COMPUTER!!. The invoice that was with the package stated that this was an incomplete shipment. I have no Idea when the computer is supposed to ship. I wish I could have been one of the ones who recieved a computer and no speakers.

Take it easy, Easy. At least you got something. As large as Aliens national distribution center is, I wouldn't count on them to be organized enough to keep up with two invoices.

I notice today that there is an update (dated 1/2/00 not "01" which states (my summary), "New Units are Ready: Due to shortage of certain components of the Book PC there was a delay in shipment. They are now saying that the matter has been fixed and the units will begin shipping again to all customers! They thank us all for our patience." What do you all make of this? I don't see any new tracking numbers for auction #481491062 yet, however.

Even with all that's happened I would still prefer that I receive my computer and speakers now, rather than waiting another 30 days in the hopes of receiving a refund.

Ishorman, I urge you to go back to page 2 of this thread and reread your response on Dec. 19. Pocono is right, this is just another put off.

medidrive: I also feel like this is just another put off. I am continuing to send them unanswered emails, I've sent them their registered letter, I've notified everyone I can think of, and filed complaints all over the place. In the meantime I will also continue to do whatever I can do to insure that I will get either a computer or my money back.

For what it's worth ,I just realized that I bought a ATI All In Wonder vid card from them earlier this past summer. Was a sealed, baggie, OEM type thing....Took about a week to deliver and works fine....But shortly afterwards, he was suspended by ebay. Had no bad FB at the time...

Oh dear... the negs are starting to hit at Yahoo as well. Aliendist had acquired a mere 4 in feedback, after eventually sending out stickers, and that is now down to 1. Interestingly, another Ebay incarnation is identified, but because it is down at the moment, I can't do any more investigation.
I am sorry for all those who have been done over by this guy, and hope that all these tales of woe will make those who have only been partially screwed so far recognise reality. IT IS EXTREMELY UNLIKELY YOU WILL GET THE COMPUTERS TO GO WITH YOUR SPEAKERS... OR THE SPEAKERS TO GO WITH YOUR COMPUTERS (IF YOU WERE SO LUCKY!). If you have paid by CC, go for the chargeback, so that you won't lose out. Do it now, before the time frame expires.

To whom it may concern,
Please realize that for most (if not all) of us "actual customers", it is well past 60 days so please focus your advice with that in mind. Thank you

I'll tell you everything I know about this case Alien, unless you make your 100+ customers very happy, very very soon you will become very very unhappy.......
