I submit that auction ending times are no longer meaningful with the advent of Buy It Now.
I further submit that eBay should refund the listing fees for every BIN auction that was running while eBay was gurgling down the sewer pipes. In my case, that's hundreds (soon to be thousands) of auctions, any of which *could* have been ended during the downtime.
Farfetched? Not at all. Bidders have been going after my BIN auctions like hungry trout snapping at bottleflies.

Eating Pizza, listing on Yahoo, laughing about eBay. I think this outage may last for some time. Maybe through tonight. Too bad. Lots of people were set to list tonight.

I can sure tell it's down. I have just sold 3 items at the buy price on Yahoo in about 20 minutes to 3 different buyers. I think that is a first for me!

For all of you who will not get your auctions extended, but feel they were negatively impacted by this outage because they ended too soon after the outage to get bidder - go cancel them now - use http://www.vrane.com they have a bid cancel and auction ending tool called the bomb so you can very rapidly end lots of auction properly (cancel bids FIRST) Then ask ebaY for listing fee refunds -
Request listing, special feature and Final Value Fees. Go to the form at
http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?
SendSupportEmailShow&subject=Credit%20--%20How%20can
%20I%20receive%20credit%20for%20insertion%20fees%3F%20
Send -
* The item number(s) of the ended auction(s)
* The specific fee(s) charged for them
* Your seller's email address or User ID
* The phrase, GIVE CREDIT in the Subject line
