* Sorry Our Money Is Temporarily Unavailable **

We are sorry, but our dollars are temporarily unavailable. We are working on our system back up and may never have any money again.

Please check the Bankrupty Board at http://www2.ebay.com/aw/nodough.shtml for updates.
We will keep you posted as our depression progresses. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate
that you are dumb enough to use us.

Regards,
eBay

I guess Meg was so"upset" at the Yahoo Auction announcement, that she needed to act decisively. Since Yahoo is hell bent on destroying their auction business by implementing fees which cannot be sustained by their sell though rate, Meg figured the only avenue left for her to destroy Ebay in the face of this new competition is to shut down the system AND charge fees! A classic case of oneupswomanship! I think eBay needs a new slogan for all those TV commericals to reflect the new reality! How about: eBay... where keeping the site up and running is job # NONE! or perhaps:

eBay the online auction with the hand-crafted reliability of the Yugo!

or pehaps Absolutely! Postively! We will bill you for your auctions no matter what!, whether the site is up and running or not! Our Billing Deparment will get the job done! You can COUNT ON IT!

I knew when they started chasing Katy around that nothing good would come of it. Now they're trying to figure out which cord somebody tripped over.

Down in Minnesota too! Oh well. Thanks AW for being there! At least I can do my listings and then schedule them to launch in the am.

I think eBay should hire the engineers who run the porn sites: you can't shut them down unless you reboot. }:-\

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to get a link to work in my sig file. Last try, I promise. C'mon AW, I've been doing HTML for 2 1/2 years. --- Yeah, that chasing katy around was the ultimate slap by the pinkies! What a stoopid game! I think she's really lost now. ....and we're still down...

Do you all miss it?? It was up for about 30 min in order to not have to extend auctions again. I expect it to come up every 110 minutes for at least 10 minutes to avoid extending auctions under the 2 hour guidline so that they can get their fees in a timely manner!

They ARE doing a good job about reporting this outage. The times on the AB are pretty accurate, they are updating them fairly often, and they ARE admitting they are having a problem and that auctions will be extended. For ebaY that is pretty darn good - for a change! -Rosalinda

*** SYSTEM STATUS ***

We are continuing our work to restore availability of the eBay site. While the system status has not changed since our last post, we will continue to regularly communicate with you as our work progresses.

Regards,
eBay

What I don't understand is why they bother to communicate since they don't ever say anything.

Actually the truth is eBay has NOT been down.

Officially, their new "stealth" site in Timbuktu has been available all day, and as long as it is up, well everything is OK with Meg -- in fact I was quite lucky to have been the high bidder on the only auction that was listed there: WOW!! RARE SLICE OF PETRIFIED SPAM!! L@@K!!

fearlessrick: AW doesn't do HTML. AW does UBB.

Lose the <>, put this [url] the URL *only*. At the end of the URl use the same tag with a / after the [ and before url and a ]to close it off.

If you want to do an image use [img] on the front and the same on the end but include the / as with the URL tag. If I put it here there will be a little red X

It is supposed to be easier but I think it is a pain in the butt. It takes a few tries to get it to work.

Oh hell, I can do it but I can't seem to explain it. http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1007-200-4352889.html?tag=st.ne.1002.thed.ni

(UPI) 3-JAN-01 EBAY braced for yet another outage.

After an hours-long outage on on-line auction giant ebay, the San Jose based company will offer its sellers a series of graduated rebates on listing fees plus a choice of PEZ candy dispensers.

EBAY spokesman Henry Gomez estimates that the problem will repeat itself in the not too distant future, but cannot guarantee when this will happen. "It went down, and we don't know when we'll get it back up." We can only assume that he was talking about their website.

The price of the EBAY stock jumped today on news of a Fed interest cut. That same interest cut was auctioned off last week for $19.51 by some guy named agreenguy. Auction was won by prezelect. There has not been any authentication of either the buyer or seller to date.

In a related story, Pierre Omidyar,
Chairman of the Board of EBAY, was reportedly bidding on some website software and windmill software on Yahoo. Meg Whitman, President of the company, was pissed off because she had a bid in on Yahoo and is worried that some other bidder (TimeWarner) will come in with some sniping software and get the company at the last minute.

Stock analysts rate the stock as a strong buy, but since the site is down, they are unable to do just that. Log on tomorrow, if you are able, or the day after that, or the day after that...

one wonders what new application eBay is trying to install........one that eBay will charge sellers to use.....that caused this current crash

is eBay our friend or our adversary?...perhaps eBay's best interests are not the same as seller's best interests
