And you are WRONG in another FALSE CLAIM you continue making.....ms. uninformed.

This war is NOT illegal.

It was approved by all in our congress. The bill passed.

Get real....get informed....try and stop embarrassing your co-horts in hatred of this President.

This war with terrorism is going to continue....even IF a dem ever gets in the WH.

This isn't a 'Bush' war.

And I seriously doubt we're going to be reading ANY of your liberal buddies here....agreeing that our troops should just DESERT their committments....rather than chose the other alternative means they have to leave the services.

I think you pretty much stand alone on this one miss. anti-war.....PRO-DESERTERS.

LOL
"While the democratic party complains about everything THIS President does to protect our Nation": "What would a Democrat president have done at that point?"

"Apparently, the answer is: Sit back and wait for the next terrorist attack."

My opinion is that the war is an illegal war and my opinion is that it is Bush's war. He owns it.

Once again I will make it clear to you that I don't hate President Bush. I think he is an incompetent leader and I disagree with his policies, that doesn't mean that I have to hate him.

And I seriously doubt we're going to be reading ANY of your liberal buddies here....agreeing that our troops should just DESERT their commitments....rather than chose the other alternative means they have to leave the services.

Of course not because nowhere did I ever say that soldiers should desert their commitments. Just because you are very angry and are unable to discuss rationally there is no need to make up lies.

I think you pretty much stand alone on this one miss.

If I stand alone on any issue it doesn't bother me in the least. I've never been one that needs to run in a pack for confidence or look for approval from others to voice an opinion or belief.

You need to re-read you own comments ....there you will see your hatred of everything this President has ever done.....they're there.

And sure you're supporting deserters......lol....now you're trying to claim you weren't?

GAWD....you are one mixed up canadian.

VERY confused.

If you would calm down and go back and read exactly what I have said from the beginning instead of trying to speak my beliefs for me, it may help you to be less confused.

I'm off for a relaxing game of Sudoka and then a good sleep. G'nite.

kiara's posts supporting US deserters::

I hope Canada's government allows this new group to stay. They are young and there is no reason for them to be sent to their deaths in Iraq over an illegal war.
=====

I would never call these soldiers cowards,
===============

I don't see how it will affect your life if they stay in Canada instead of possibly being killed or wounded in Iraq, Linda_K.

You and your Bush government don't own them. They choose to take responsibility for their own lives and don't want to do unspeakable acts like beating people with axe handles or raiding innocent Iraqis' homes as ordered to do. It goes against their moral conscience and they weren't raised to treat others that way.
================

Looks to me as if they want to break free of the slavery then. It's an illegal war so good for them.
===================
If any other party gets in power these soldiers will have an even better chance of staying in Canada.
=================

....because she is powerless to deal with the reality of the increasing number of young soldiers going to Canada and other countries for refuge because of Bush's illegal war.

=================

All this on page one....and NOW she's trying to claim she doesn't support deserters????

ROFLMHO.

She SURE has. She 'feels' for them. Doesn't believe they need to stick with their VOLUNTARY contracts they signed...NOR use legal means to disconnect from the service.

NOPE....much better to run off to canada....and she'll welcome them with open arms.

Oh...but according to HER liberal [twisted mind that I've mentioned before] she ISN'T supporting deserters.

ROFLMHO

too crazy for me.....just too crazy.

Taking some of my comments out of context or cutting parts off and then adding your thoughts on what I believe so it only suits your agenda is silly, Linda_K .

Nowhere did I ever say that soldiers SHOULD desert their commitments. Nor do I believe that all soldiers should desert their commitments just because I commented that more were deserting from Iraq.

The soldiers that I've seen or read about gave their reasons for deserting and now that they are in Canada I have no objections if Canada allows them to stay. I was talking about a select group of soldiers, not all soldiers in the world. Hopefully this makes it easier for you to understand.

You're statements should be clear to all who read them, kiara.

Because you now choose to backpeddle....won't change what you've said.

fool yourself....you don't fool people who can actually READ what you wrote.
==================

Maybe you have another EXCUSE for the deserters who did so when your so called 'Bush war' wasn't even taking place????

lol lol lol Can't blame him for this now.

"The Army prosecuted desertion far less often in the late 1990s, when desertions were more frequent, than it does now, when there are comparatively fewer."

"From 2002 through 2006, the average annual rate of Army prosecutions of desertion tripled compared with the five-year period from 1997 to 2001, to roughly 6 percent of deserters, from 2 percent, Army data shows."

"Between these two five-year spans — one prewar and one during wartime — prosecutions for similar crimes, like absence without leave or failing to appear for unit missions, have more than doubled, to an average of 390 per year from an average of 180 per year, Army data shows."

"In total, the Army since 2002 has court-martialed twice as many soldiers for desertion and other unauthorized absences as it did on average each year between 1997 and 2001. Deserters are soldiers who leave a post or fail to show up for an assignment with the intent to stay away."

"Soldiers considered absent without leave, or AWOL, which presumes they plan to return, are classified as deserters and dropped from a unit's rolls after 30 days."

"Most soldiers who return from unauthorized absences are punished and discharged. Few return to regular duty."

"While the democratic party complains about everything THIS President does to protect our Nation": "What would a Democrat president have done at that point?"

"Apparently, the answer is: Sit back and wait for the next terrorist attack."

I'm not 'backpeddling' on anything I have said here, Linda_K. I was talking about a select group who have deserted and come to Canada, not every soldier in wartime.

Just because you choose to talk for me and try to change what I've said, does not mean that's what I believe or that it's true.

Mingo, it’s those few posters from the past that shared some of Linda_K’s stilted thinking and she converses with them in her head or by e-mail so she doesn’t feel alone when she voices her craziness here.

She mentioned one of them last week to me when I asked her who ‘we’ and ‘us’ are that agree with everything she says but never show up to say it here on the boards.

LOL.....I'll say it ONE LAST TIME kiara.

Your words of support for those who choose to desert from this war are there for all to clearly see.

you only fool yourself.

edited to add:

This disagreement about what you CLAIM you have not done is typical of why both you and helen post that I'm lying about what you both have said at times in the past.

You'll say all these things you've said here about why you don't believe these soldiers should have to honor their voluntary contracts.....then WHEN it's mentioned months down the road - that this WAS your position....you DENY you EVER said any such thing.
And have the gall to demand I prove what you said.

This time it didn't take you months to try and deny what you actually said. You hope canada will allow our military deserters to STAY in canada. You don't think they should be forced to do what they trained to do....what they committed to do. You don't think canada should reject their plea to stay there....when they should just take the regular military chanels to be discharged from their contract.

tsk tsk tsk

Run in circles all you want, Linda_k and become increasingly angry because you want to speak my views for me. I can speak for myself.

I don't see Helen's views on this particular topic that Logansdad posted a link to yet you are saying that I'm her mini-me and you're ranting about her here. Perhaps you should e-mail Nathan from CS at Vendio and inquire why you see her here and I can't?

LOL....sarcasm won't change what you've said, kiara.

And I think my mention of helen and your constant actions of denial to what you HAVE said in the past explains itself just fine.

Your favorite demand: "PROVE IT". Well...here I 'prove it' and you're STILL denying you support and welcome our deserters. LOL

Nope....so far helen is NOT in here defending our deserters like you have.

Not that she doesn't....but she's not here defending your position of welcoming them to canada either. YET

Nor is mingo, and she's still following me around like my shadow.

She hasn't supported your willingness to give a 'safe haven' to our deserters yet either.

My opinion on the deserters that came to Canada that I saw or read about in interviews has not changed from the beginning of this topic, Linda_K just because your brain wants it to.

Your favorite demand: "PROVE IT". Well...here I 'prove it' and you're STILL denying you support and welcome our deserters. LOL

I think you have me mixed up with someone else. I don't think I asked you to prove anything on this topic. I do think you need some more rest though as you seem even angrier than before.

My opinion was given with no thoughts as to what Helen's view is on this topic even though her views weigh so heavily on your mind to the point where you are unable to go a single day without bringing her into a conversation. You sound obsessed.

Of course your opinion of supporting and welcoming our deserters wouldn't change. Since you first started posting here you defended the deserters from the VN war that ran away to canada. lol

I sure wouldn't have ever expected that you'd change your mind on the deserters from this war. lol
==================

And on you and helen....I wasn't refering to this thread. lol You are extremely slow at putting one and one together.

I was referring to you when you were, daily, following helen around agreeing with anything she'd post. And she'd do the same for you when you posted. Two peas in a pod. Twins....mini helen. You remember don't you? lol Well...maybe not. Your memory sucks too.

But your comment on page one about these poor deserters not wanting to use axe handles to beat up the poor Iraqis....and about our troops breaking into their homes.....lol....that WAS from helen's position that our troops were acting like terrorists.

Yep...you two support our troops alright. NOT! And now YOU, and YOU ALONE are supporting our deserters.

tsk tsk sk

No, it was from the interviews in the link and on television and the axe handle related to an incident in Afghanistan so I doubt you read the MSNBC link. It had absolutely nothing to do with Helen even though your world seems to relate around her for some reason.

From the article:

I have one fellow here who was educated at the Citadel [military school.] He says when he went overseas to Afghanistan, he was given an axe handle and told to beat prisoners. [His commanders told him,] 'These guys caused 9/11, so don't hit them in the back of the head 'cause you'll kill them, but give 'em a good beating.' It's contrary to any traditional understanding of what a soldier is supposed to do. It ruins their mental image of themselves. They no longer know who they are because they had some idea that they were going to fight for truth, justice and the American way.
