HMMM...Ok... I just thought I would check on the Alien Distribution web site. Says updated 1/11/01. Only thing is, I see no change since 1/7/01. Anyone else notice this too?

Wow Johnjacob I just came here to say the same thing. Maybe they've edited the sites but only saved the main page so far... you'd think they'd do that backwards though, but whatever. I wonder what this update will say...

For an unmoderated list, why not try Yahoo Clubs or OneList? It would take someone to actually set up the list, and then posting the URL for others to join.

I just called 866 22 alien and (gasp!) I got through and left a message. The message changed since the last time I called. I wonder if it's new or if it's just been so long since I've been able to get through!

frankly, I too am disguntled at this attempt at censorship, so I have taken the liberty to follow the person's suggestion to start up a Yahoo club. There, we will be unregulated and can post whatever we want, and leave this thread open for Alien D's response(s)/update(s) (if they even occur...) The URL is http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/aliendistribution. Please join so we can discuss matters further. Thanks

Alien just so you know I to have filed for a chargeback to my credit card, filed fraud charges with Ebay and Paypal, and have also been in contact with the local authorities in Everett. I hope you start sending computers soon, I can't speak for others but if I recieve my computer and a full set of speakers before these people take action, I will cancel charges. If not, I'll have to pursue.

A note of information for those going after chargebacks for the CC payments. I just got off the phone from my bank for a chargeback that I am attempting to secure. They have certain things that must be done to protect them from claims back to the chargeback.
In the event of complete non-delivery, the matter is pretty clear-cut. For those who have had partial deliveries, you may have to inform AD that you are asking for a refund for the entire purchase price and you are willing to return or have collected the partial shipment you have got. Make sure you have these communications in writing - copies of emails will do, even if AD never read them. You will have to send a copy of the auction notice, your "winning" bidder notification, and any communications you have had from AD.
My payment was made through Billpoint - it is not Billpoint who refund, it is the credit card company who made the payment who makes the refund. Even if the company goes belly-up, those who paid by CC have some consumer protection.

To all the folks who are still hoping that AD is getting its act together...
AD's last post here was posted on January 7, 2001 10:37:38 PM
In it a Mr. Kim indicated that he was a new employee brought in to clean up the mess.
That auction winners who still wanted their PCs and who posted info here would be bumped to the top of the list. That an email was being set up for him and that he would post it here. That he was going to California in a day or two to straigten out some problems.
What do you think is going on now? No further posts by AD/Mr. Kim. The last post made late on a Sunday. No post of an email address as promised. No post about the California trip. No updates, no status, no nothing. No reports of anyone receiving their items.
I believe you have all been ripped off. Whether it was a deliberate scam or merely the result of an inept business plan is hardly relevant.
Start the financial and legal procedures that are available to you specifically for this type of situation.

Here's the optimistic point of view:
Maybe the guy is still in California trying to hurry up the process. He's tied up there without access to his new email and can't respond to us. Since he's in charge of it all now no one else even bothers with it, since it's his job.
Here's everyone elses's point of view:
The guy pretends he has a new employee, showing us one more case of fraud. He then pretends he flies across the country to help us out but ends up in some sort of a tough situation so they don't have to respond to us. This gives them more time to stall and run away with our money.
Here's my point of view:
We have no idea what is going on. Without proper updates on the web site we don't even know how they are trying to scam us if they are. With this lack of communication we have to start preparing any pleas for our money back yesterday. Everyday that we wait for a response is one more day beyond the limit to get your cash back. We might as well try to get chargebacks on our credit cards now, and cancel them if products start shipping. A chargeback isn't something that is done in five minutes, it takes a lot of time, so if you start it now you'll still keep all of your options open. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Well as I wait for something to happen I've decided to make a list of lies that Alien has told me personally.
What they said:
"We build thousands of units a week"
Fact:
They have been completely overwhelmed selling far less than a thousand units over a 4 month period.
What they said:
"11/22/2000. HelpDesk. This week we are implementing a new customer service feature for all customers. A web-based HelpDesk system so that you can inquire about order status, tech support, billing, sales, or any general questions."
Fact:
Almost two months later the page has been updated only a handful of times with nothing even CLOSE to a 24 hour helpdesk.
What they said:
"First and large shipment of finished machines that we were shifting from one location to another using Dawes Transport, ended up in Miami, FL."
Contradiction:
"We use UPS and USPS."
What they said:
Promised Christmas delivery.
Fact:
Today is January 12, 2001. Still my name has not been put on the order status page. Still no product.
Maybe it's just because I did well in second grade math, but I've noticed a pattern hidden behind all of my babbling: They have not fulfilled any promises. They don't follow through with anything they say!
To jump ahead to third grade problem solving, one would come to the conclusion that Alien Distribution are liars.
I'm still waiting Alien. Good luck with all of this. It's going to be hard to defend yourself.
posted on January 12, 2001 06:52:22 PM newps- I recommend you all join the yahoo club called aliendistribution just in case this message board is somehow erased in the future.
I think that maybe some folks are put off by being called "professional posters" there.
I know I was...
If some people feel that they want "only" the actual people that were ripped off to participate there, and they want no help from others, then I will bow out, and I wish you all the best in this situation.

Sean, don't start. We would have to open up a new categoy on AW to cover half the broken promises AD has made. Also, on this 'trip' Mr.Kim took, how did he 'update' the web page if he didn't have internet access? Another reason why this is a SCAM. When this company has access to the net, they should reply to some of these posts, answer emails, or ACTUALLY update their web page, instead of just typing "Site updated 01/11/2000". I run a business on the web and it doesn't take NEARLY as much time AD says it takes to reply to emails. Anyone that knows computer(supposedly AD, yeah right,), could probably answer 500-600 emails per hour. What else would Alien do with their time? They certainly aren't building computers!

Pocono,
I am the creator of the Aliendistribution club. The description states that the club was solely for people who got ripped off by Alien and those that are interested in our plight. You are a very intelligent person and your help would be much needed. You have a lot of experience in this area, can greatly benefit our cause by joining also. I only created the club in order to get away from the moderators, since they kept deleting all of our posts for the most absurd reasons. I hope you do join!

Everyone,
Your posts are not being deleted for absurd reasons. You may post what you like as long as your posts do not violate our Communtity Guidelines. Posts containing identifying information are clearly against the CGs, which you agreed to abide by when you registered here.
Just wanted to make sure everyone is on the same page here.

Please everybody who got shafted by AlienDistribution and those who are just mad over e-commerce fraud, Join the yahoo club aliendistribution here http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/aliendistribution, for an unadulterated and unmoderated place to state your opinions and new findings. The pool of members has been growing at a large place, and with the more members we get, the more information we can share and reveal. Hopefully, if enough people join, we can piece together the puzzle to get ALiendistribution for ruining our holidays, our pride, and ultimately our faith. Please do not see this as an attempt to weed out those who are not associated with Aliendistribution. We welcome anybody with an interest in our plight, or in a similiar situation.

Everyone,
As it has been several days since a representative from Alien Distribution has posted, and since it is clear there is another place in which to discuss this issue, I am locking this thread. It has become unproductive.
