I urge anyone interested in discussing a co-op to go to twinsoft's message board. Just email twinsoft or I for directions as AW won't allow us to post the url in this thread.

Forgot all about this one! And you're right -- this is the best place to continue.

Good work!

Yes, packer dog can have a rest now.

The best way to handle this thread AFTER its been read is to HIT CONTROL N to open another window. Get here then all you need to do is hit RELOAD or REFRESH. I do this on lengthy threads and I'm still able to watch what else is going on in the Outlook.

HECK.....lately I've have 4 and 5 windows open to try and keep up with the basement, moderators corner and the outlook. I hate having to do all that "CLICK BACK" crap.

packer YAY

Wow, this is the first thread about the co-op. I thought it would be interesting reading for some.

Join us and let's build something we as sellers and bidders need.

Email for the url to our message board.

Let's go folks-----I am so enthused about this! I see this as the only way out of ebay's pit bull grip on unhappy sellers!!

Let's build it! The WILL come~

whyizzit,

It is a violation of the Community Guidelines to have more than one posting ID. Please e-mail [email protected], listing all ID's and stating your preference as to which one you would like to retain for posting purposes. You may have several ID's for Auction Manager, etc. but only one for posting.

You may find additional information here: http://www.auctionwatch.com/company/terms.html

Thank you for your cooperation.

twelvepole---Thanks to your MISUNDERSTANDING of my post- I was just threatened with suspension.

I do NOT have two ID'S on AW-- I was referring to posting on Canvids' thread with an ID for THAT board.

If this is such an old subject - what are you doing here anyway?
I would thank you kindly in all due respect to carefully READ and not to remark about anyone unless you realize the consequences you may cause them.
Thank you!

whyizzit,

I also misunderstood your post. My post was based on it, not on twelvepole's remark.

I apologize for the error.

Hey folks, it's Saturday night. Let's all be friends for a bit.

I think deep down we all want the same things for our businesses. Sure, we may all not agree but there's no reason to attack each other. Let's attack ebay or AW or anybody else that doesn't want to part of this semi-historic movement!

Let's be nice to each other until Monday??

Jamie-- it's cool. Linda and twelvepole mistook my post to mean I had 2 IDs here on AW..
I was referencing your board about the coop at which I use another ID

Linda was just doing her job - and graciously acknowledged her error..... but twelvepole didn't stop to think----which is paramount that we all do on these boards ~

No problem Whyizzit. This is just one of the reasons why I'm so disapointed with AW's not only lack for support but actually hurting the movement.

We need all the help we can get in our infancy and all the discussion and sharing of ideas as well.

It's going to be funny to look back in a few years when the co-op is up and running well and see who was for us and helpful and who wasn't?

OK--- just left a post on canvid's thread-- which I've been following--(under different ID)

There was NO misunderstanding on my part. By reading this. But hey if your not posting with two ID's then you are safe. Sometimes reading before posting helps the reader understand your post.

A solution to the dilemma of free sites is the creation of a co-op. For all the new co-op info you can check out this site.

The solution is already in existance, it's called BearShare. It is the best working P2P software to hit the net so far. I've been using it for a month and was shocked just how well it works and how easy it was to set up.

The only hurdles we have in using it are getting the word out to buyers to start using and searching on the system [assuming we start making "for sale" files available on the system, and only buy and sell through a credit card payment system like Paypal. Scam artists will be shut out by these payment systems. We would also need to take every opportunity to educate buyers to use a credit card system to avoid rip offs.

Using central servers, regardless of who owns them, is just trading one master for another.

Let's get an experiment going among ourselves using this P2P system. Everyone get set up with the software, designate a folder to share. Create plain txt files with a description of what you have for sale and contact information. NAME ALL SHARED FILES BEGINNING WITH THE TERM 4SALE AS EXAMPLE- FILENAME = 4SALE BOOK STEVEN KING CUJO.

Include your email address and let's contact each other when we find and obviously have read one another's files.

Hi Reamond,

This technology is really exciting. I don't know if it's ready or will be a true alternative but it certainly is something to look at.

In the meantime I think a seller's co-op is the best Alternative to Ebay and other for profit sites.

Now if we can just get enough of us to work together to make it happen??

CO-OP folks! We can make it happen!

What did you all think of AW's story about the co-op option??

LOL... boy.. that was interesting reading... way out of my leauge but very interesting. I may not have helped build eBay... but I have tested other auction sites before placing my shoe business on here... so far.. ebay is the only place I can actually sell and see actual bids. IF you guys find.. or create something else that can assure bids... I will be more than happy to join you... otherwise... I just keep going with the flow of ebay. I have neither the technology.. nor the cash to start a program as such.. wish I did... I would have made one long ago.. but raising my coffee cup high in the air... HERE'S TO ALL OF US... MAY WE FIND PEACE AND HAPPINESS IN OUR ENDEAVORS!!!! and good luck to you!!!

Best wishes,
Renee: shoes4everyone
