Profe - aren't you referring to ranching instead of farming? In Nebraska, ranchers are touchy about confusing the two. Your post reminds me of many of the wonderful James Herriot stories, in up to the elbows turning lambs, injecting livestock.

Yikes, Profe! No wonder you grab a bottle of Old Overcoat and head to the barn some days. I would too if I was up to my knees and elbows in blood, guts and gore like that!
Can't you soften that image by putting a sweet young thing in Daisy Dukes on a John Deere or something? Or lolling around in the hayloft waiting to give you a back rub after a tough day?

Yikes, Kiara! That fling in the hayloft would suffer the ferocious fury of SWMBO.
If you are trying to understand my words, Roadsmith, let me know and I'll tell you how easy it is to set fire to a troublesome hayloft.

pixiamom:
Yeah I know, I'm really a rancher, unless you talk to my buddies who run only cattle. They'll tell you emphatically that with sheep, horses, goats, poultry, and a few cattle I'm just a farmer. Then we compare books and my wool, cheese, milk, grass fed meat and Colonial Spanish horses give me a much better bottom line than their slaughter weight steers. So I don't mind being called a farmer.
Closest I've gotten to a hottie in the barn was when the girls, knowing of an little crush I had on Jessica Alba, put up a pretty tame poster of her out there. I think they were mainly trying to goof on their step mom, 'cause it disappeared in a couple of days! The kidding and practical jokes don't stop around here.

Oh, yuk, Prof! I really admire you for all the work you do! Actually, most of the farms on Farmville don't look like farms at all. I'm amazed at how artistic some of those people are! My farm just looks like a flat little farm. No hills or streams made out of hay bales. Mine is one of the more unimaginative ones (the rainbow is for St. Patty's day - There's a pot of gold in the center). Yah, that's realistic! LOL! You start out with four little plots and have to build from there. Everything costs money. Some people actually spend real cash on some of the imaginary items. I'm not one of them!

What's that in the left corner, 2 spaces over from the farmhouse? Looks like a rollercoaster....i've got a rollercoaster in my pasture too. His name is El Zarca and he is not amused by saddles, bridles and other human trappings. He and I are at loggerheads right now. He's the reason my Doc has suggested I quit breaking horses. It's a real Mexican standoff. Every evening lately I get my drink and cigar after dinner and go out to the fence and we stare at each other. I talk, sing, whisper and generally try to convince him that I'm not the enemy. So far neither of us has blinked. My oldest daughter plans to try and tame him this summer, but I'm not hopeful. Wanna buy him for your farm? I'll make you a smokin' deal.

Cheryl, that farm is too prissy. You gotta have a bad-ass bull and a creek with rattlesnakes lurking about.
...maybe a fox headed for the chicken coop too.
And, just for Roadsmith, a smiley face.

LOL, Helen. Actually the bull is in the dairy farm building making calves. No kidding. Calves are actually born on the farm. There are foxes as well that your neighbors get rid of for you. Yah, just like real life. LOL!
Yes, Prof, it is organized. My own home is a disorganized mess!

Prof - It's actually an oriental garden with a little pond in the middle. Keep in mind that a billionaire owns this farm. That's her estate. Her husband is in the little pink cottage at the bottom of the screen. LOL!!!

It's the cute as heck Walt Disney Raccoons that give me the most trouble. Scourge of the planet, you ask me. God made raccoons so we'd all have hats.

Good question, sthoemke.
The fact that other auction related forums and spin offs from those forums are experiencing the same inactivity that we have here and on Ebay Outlook is interesting.
Maybe you're on the right track. Maybe Ebay users are spending more time keeping up with the latest rules and regulations? Or, maybe they've just said to hell with it?

The sellers left eBay because the buyers left eBay. Mismanagement aside, it grew from a new, vibrant marketplace to a mature, stagnant (at best) market. Buyers looking for hard to find items paid top dollar for them when eBay was new. Now they have the item, so do the other potential buyers. 20 sellers now have it listed without bids. No wonder many of them are chucking eBay and looking for easier ways to make a living.

I stopped selling on ebay years ago because I got interested in doing other things. Yesterday I purchased something on ebay for the first time in about 3 years. I didn't stop buying because of any bad experiences, the few things I want I can usually get locally or from select websites.

While I was a seller on Ebay, I enjoyed the experience and like Kiara left for reasons other than dissatisfaction with that activity. Since I have an interest in art, I especially enjoyed learning how to use HTML, color and good photography to design Ebay ads. I also enjoyed answering questions of those interested in my product and in many cases learning from those buyers who were book collectors.
From my perspective the buyer versus seller atmosphere involving Ebay/Paypal intrusion did not exist.

It would be nice if Vendio provided a roundtable forum for Vendio users only. I think many more would participate if the non-Vendio users, who only give their CC #s to participate were relocated elsewhere.

?????
Not certain what you're insinuating, Pixiamom? Except that I get the distinct impression that you don't want some of us expressing our opinions here and would prefer a closed forum for yourself and select others of your choice and the rest of us should just get lost? Have you considered the ignore button or does Vendio still have that feature?

Pixiamom, I believe it's presumptuous of you to insinuate that you're paying more than others when you most likely aren't privy to Vendio's account information and have little idea of what others pay for services that Vendio offers, such as their web hosting service.
Everyone seems to get along fine here so I don't know what your problem is except that you've had it for several years now.
Have you ever approached Vendio to see if they will offer you your own board where you can invite those of your choice and discuss only what you choose to so as to avoid those of us who you deem as less worthy?

"I'm suggesting that those of us who pay hefty Vendio fees stop supporting those who don't. Nothing is free, pay up or move on.
Pixiamom, The fee that you pay Vendio is based on the plan or services that you use. No portion of that payment fee is allotted for message board use. Are you suggesting that Vendio should increase their fees to cover message board use?
No other auction related board that I'm familiar with requires posters to pay a fee. In fact, it's considered good business policy to provide free and open discussion forums because those who are not paying members may decide sometime in the future to become one. Your wish for exclusivity based on what you call "Vendio's hefty fee" may be insulting to some posters here and simply wrong in regard to Vendio's reasonable fee for their services.

Helen, I was surprised at Pixiamom's reaction. Most of us should be grandfathered in all these years later, whether we pay for services or not.
Besides, a couple of our comments each month eats up how many cents of bandwidth? It's not like we're in a fancy penthouse part of the site, we're down in a basement with no windows now - where the rest of the outside world can hardly find us.

pixiamom - I don't use Vendio's services either. I host my own photos and use the free services eBay offers with my store. I didn't go that route out of dissatisfaction with Vendio. I went that route out of monetary necessity. I don't think you're comment was a very nice one at all and insulted a great many people. I've been posting on the board since 2000. I think I'm entitled (as is everyone else) to remain on the board without paying.
All that aside, at least your comments are adding some spice back into the RT.
