For me, the big flash that we were in a serious recession/depression was when a neighborhood plumbing/electrical supplies company closed its satellite stores. They are a great company, treat their employees as family, saved our landmark neighborhood YMCA when it closed by converting it to a neighborhood center. I'm thrilled to see signs announcing the reopening of the closed stores. Any signs of recovery in your neighborhood?

This is a joke right?? Other than your dreams and an Obama speach, where have you seen the work recovery??

NJ:
1) Foreclosure rate 30%
2) Unemployment up to 10% (of course it is much higher as many people have either exhausted their benefits or have new jobs at McDonald's)
3) One of my friends works for corp that owns/runs many shopping malls. Many of the stores you see in those empty malls are not paying or paying a fraction of their rents. They're not being kicked out because of the visual impact of boarded up stores, which would not be rentable anyway.
4) Some of my cousin's customers (heavy truck repair) are paying him in goods.

This is not a joke. While Bush was still president, we were shocked by the effects his deregulation led us to. Massive taxpayers' bailouts to Bush's friends who profited obscenely from the deregulation vs. the honest, hard-working small business owner caught in the credit crunch without bailouts- this cost people jobs while Bush's bailout cronies are STILL awarding themselves huge bonuses. The recovery is still not as rapid as I hoped, but when I see an honest business man, who has the interest of his employees and community at heart start to recover, I take hope.

I find it hilarious that your "personal theories" of the economic recession seem to be so different from the rest of the planet. The causes are well known and the inevitable outcome was prophesied years before it happened.

You need to expand your education beyond Fox News and get a dose of reality. The real world does not hold Obama as the cause of the economic meltdown. The abyss was so great when he assumed office... Edited to add: Squirrel, you have always proven to be a clone of Joe, the wannabe. Perhaps if you accept the standards of the Bush presidency and his cronies, you will some day become one of them. Relax, you won't.
