Interesting thread - I'm going to go take Ugly out of the description for a truly ugly tie I have listed!

Even though I have a lot of feedback it urks me to read in the TOS that they will not accept checks from people with low feedback and I will not bid on items where the seller takes money orders only.

The word Mint also bothers me. The shipping thing seems to be my biggest complaint, though. I'm always afraid of getting hit with some huge handling fee and often e-mail asking what the exact shipping and handling fees are... I looked at one auction yesterday that stated free shipping in the title and .99 cents shipping in the description.

Once I saw an auction for a shirt. The title was "Butt ugly Hawaiian shirt". It had 5 bids and was at about $30, and it wasn't vintage or rare. BTW it WAS "butt ugly". I wouldn't have paid a dollar for it, with free shipping. The only thing remarkable I could find about that shirt was that oh-so-innovative auction title. I thought the use of the word "ugly" was quite effective there. But maybe it was just a fluke...

Salesmans Sample makes me not even look at the auction. I see it used 20 times a day and rarely ever see an actual salesmans sample.

"Email me for ...."

Reminds of going into an antique store, with tons of stuff locked up in display cases (a lot of times, with the price tag hidden -- I hate that!) -- unless the item is truly unusual and I want it very badly, I don't email for the info, and I don't ask someone to go to the trouble to open up the display case just to see the price.

I like collecting DJ-mix CDs and records. A seller recently put up a bunch of them with a huge paragraph of TOS, but for description all he says is, "I'm too busy to list the tracks on this record or the condition, email me for details." ??? You're too busy to put this vital info in your listing, you instead want to answer potential bidders' questions individually???
