Haven't you all heard of "NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!"

What else is the 1% but a tax on your eBay sales?

AW is simply not entitled to FVFs...you aren't listing on AW, so they have absolutely no claim to the fee for that. I don't believe I sell more because I would bulk list with AW. I took AW Pro off my computer and will stick with Mr. Lister, which actually works better on eBay. I no longer use Yahoo, so that's not needed. You can host images for less elsewhere, so there's no value added for AW service.

"I AM STAYING. I HAVEN'T A CLUE HOW TO GET MY AUCTIONS ON EBAY WITHOUT AW. AW IS EASY. ANY DIRECTIONS I READ ON EBAY OR IN BOOKS GO RIGHT OVER MY HEAD."
Countrytouches we are in the same boat!
Do try Andale as it has been easy, so far, and the basic plan is free!!!!

I still haven't decided yet if I'm staying or not. I am a very small time seller and have web space available on my ISP. The problem is I work nights and do most of my listing after my RL job. I'm not crazy about having my listings start and end at 3:00AM. I'm wondering if the convience of being able to schedule my auctions is worth the fee.

For myself, the convenience of scheduling auctions isn't worth any fee. I'll just do other stuff in the morning and save afternoons and evenings strictly for listing. I had some confusion initially with figuring out how to use ebay's photo service, but now it's a piece of cake.

Listing on EBAY without AW is so simple it is funny. Ebay does not charge to put images on your auction. HELLO ! ! ANYONE HOME???? DUH ! !

AW needs to wake up. Giving their LOYAL users 2 weeks notice is utterly stupid on their part. There are so many other iamge hosting service out there that are TOTALLY FREE....WHY PAY FOR SOMETHING HERE WHEN YOU CAN GET IT FREE SOMEWHERE ELSE ? ? ? ?

There is an old expressiona about a fool and his money.....get the point?

If you want to give AW your hard earned money when others will provide the same service FREE...go for it...Smart sellers will make the right choice to seek other service providers and continue to make a profit while you "Loyal AW", "I can't live without AW" will loose profits.....

mulberry912, if you think AW is just about hosting your images you're missing the point. If that's all you get from them, fine, go find a free picture host. I guarantee you they won't be free for long- storing images on a reliable EMC or network appliance (which is what I suspect AW uses) and serving them to auctions is an expensive proposition. I should know, I've worked on systems like them before.

AW's bandwidth bill alone must be over 100k per month. Add to that their hardware costs, cost of personnel, etc you begin to understand that it's not a simple proposition for them. In addition I bet they're paying Ebay some serious cash for access to their API, in order to launch your auctions and update data, etc.

What does your nickel and 1% get you? It gets you placement in their auction search engine, a storefront, access to their delayed launching and post sale management.

I'm a small time seller on ebay so I declined the AW fees, and will find other ways to do what I'm doing. But I'm blown away at the fact that many people just don't "get" the services AW offers, or appreciates the fact that they're trying to become a cash flow positive business in order to stick around and not become another "dot bomb."

It's just plain rude, disrespectful and short sited when people #*!@ and moan on AW's boards about all this. You don't like it? leave.

Simple enough.

Funny how this thread stays open...

I don't understand the mentality of someone who is willing to pay $50 or $100 a month for something they can learn themselves in about 15 minutes. "Oh, it's way over my head!" Hey, an eight year old can figure it out. Don't sell yourself short.

I also don't get the many people standing on soapboxes proclaiming loudly and indignantly that they are AW's "LOYAL customers." Loyal non-paying customers, more accurate. Well, all you LOYAL customers, here's where the rubber meets the road.

I've never used AW's services and don't plan to start now. The system I use now, hosting my own photos, etc., works well enough for me. A lot better than buying into every "free" craze that hits the net, designed to soak auctin sellers. Folks, just because they're selling, doesn't mean you have to buy.

It is possible to write your own eBay ads, accept checks and money orders, and still make a profit.

Twinsoft - I totally agree with you...!

People do not need AW or any other online service, except a place to store pictures (millions of free site that will let you do this)

Has anyone ever heard of a seach engine? and keywords like BASIC HTML HOW TO ?

I have to laugh, because I don't know how many people I have taught HTML too, just through e-mail contact and simple explanations.

I have considered making my own HTML teaching page and charging people $20.00 to get the password so they can learn also. I guarentee they will get their $20.00 bucks worth... (now just finding the time to build the page with step by step instructions is another story)

IT IS SO SIMPLE... if you have someone that will teach you in plain english.

Let me tell you just how simple things are and how free they are... Right now I am building a web store with a shopping cart system for a lady that lives in OR and I live in IL. It all being done by e-mail and regular mail. Guess what... it's not costing the lady anything except she is bartering with me (paying me with her products from a brick & mortar store she closed down) She has hundreds of different widgets and of each widget she has 100 of the same item. I get one widget of each type by mail, I scan them and build her website so she can sell her duplicate widgets.

She does not have to pay for a domain name, server space, shopping cart etc... because I know where all the free services are by doing some online homework.

I get paid for my time in goods (things she has already bought and is sitting on)

I thought about getting a bunch of HTML writers together and offering services to people who cannot do this themselves or refuse to learn how to do it. Writers that would accept goods instead of cash. How many sellers are on eBay after they closed a store down and need someone to build them a site for the goods they are sitting on. I would be the matchmaker, find a person that has tons of widgets that interest you and you can build them a site!

For exsample... you might have someone that had a tool store and has no html knowledge and then you have someone that writes html and needs some tools. Why not pay your html writer in tools for building you a web site for you? You may be sitting on 100 wrench sets, 100 screw driver sets, etc... Send your html writer 1 of each item so they can scan it, take photo or whatever of the item and build your site for you.

Personally I like some of the other services AW offers like auto-wbn and schedule launches. I have to admit the service has it's kinks. The html templates is just a nice add-on, although I could always use more variety of them. I guess I am just too lazy to learn html and design good looking templates to sell my items

TIME IS MONEY.
I will still use AW to list my items to launch at certain times.
I certainly have the experience and knowledge to use HTML and any other service but I like being able to do the auctions offline, it's just easier.
Mind you I will NEVER relist through AW.
I will simply relist directly and save $.
Most of my items are under $50.
But when i do list items for high value it won't be through AW.
I use a deperate service for storefront that takes items directly from Ebay.
This way it doesn't matter.
Use AW like a Red Headed Step Child.
(I was going to say cheap whore but refrained)
Get the maximum value for your $
I sell both unique and repetitive items.
I'll set up the multiple items through AW and relist seperately, SAVE $.
Then do my odd pieces through AW and pay minimum.
Just my thoughts
JB
