I do walk into Brick & Morter antique stores and ask for my discount (I am a dealer). I am usually given my discount. When I pull out my credit card, I am told they cannot give me my discount. So I have been penalized 10% for using a credit card. IT DOES HAPPEN!!!!
One other thing, since I am repling to this thread. The poster who was suspended earlier because of their comments to CIX, was trying to state that they DO put in their auctions that they charge extra for using Paypal.
That poster did not tell their buyer after the auction ended in an EOA notice that they had to pay the fees. The bidders read the auction and agreed to it. This is something everyone on this board is constantly complaining about, that Seller's hide their fees.
I commend the poster for being up front in their description. The fact that it is not allowed by EBay is the only thing the Poster did not know until they were REPORTED to eBay. I also agree that whoever reported the Poster to eBay should have at least tried to contact the Poster first and advise them of the problem with eBay rules. Not everyone reads the Ebay Announcement Boards for new changes, such as not being allowed to charge for Paypal services. The hostility expressed by the Poster most likely stemmed from the fact that they believed a "heads up" email would have been more appropriate.

It is against the law to charge people for using their credit cards to pay for something. The seller is supposed to absorb the cost.

As a previous poster said - it is not 'against the law' to charge added fees for credit card usage, rather, it is a 'violation of the rules' a merchant agrees to when they sign up with a merchant account.
