eBay is just doing what companies do once they reach a certain size.
The MBAs take over and they figure out how to get a bigger piece of the pie from the sellers that work for them. It's not unlike a winning salesman seeing his commission cut the next year because he made more than the president this year.
The problem with the model is that the pie eventually gets smaller and smaller. The "marginal" sellers go away, the buyers who purchase "marginal" sellers' goods go away, people looking for deals go away.
Eventually, eBay is left with a bigger portion of a smaller pie that won't sustain them. And then its time to punish the guilty through layoffs and reorganizations.

Yes, and it looks like reserve auctions are taken too. Of course, there's always the issue of who should leave feedback first- it's been at least a week since the last discussion. So many topics- so little time.

If AW ever decides to take a couple of weeks off, all they'll have to do is pick a one week section of the archived posts (any week will do) and re-reun them, using updated posting times and dates. Nobody would be the wiser.

Maybe we can ask AW to make some program modifications and we can relist out previous postings/comments. Will save a lot of typing time. They can charge us a penny a launch

AW, PayPal, eBay, etc?
Someone's sleeping on the job.
Just when I got my best Brie ready to go, there's not enough whine!!!!!

Well, sure- that would work. They could even develop an auto-submit feature, which would submit your favorite stored posts, based on keywords in the subject title.
Just think- you could pontificate at length, without having to even read the threads. A definite time saver.

That link is hillarious! I had to play it several times, because I kept falling off my chair with laughter in the middle of it. Scared the cat doing it....

It's a line from a very poorly translated Japanese video game, and it swept through pop culture a few months ago after people started posting it everywhere. it started out on Internet message boards, then moved to websites, and ended up being quoted on the Simpsons, Fox Trot, and a host of other places. The link Toke provided above will show you a clip from the game where the phrase originated, and then a wonderful montage of places where the phrase has popped up....

Better hope eBay isn't dead - there isn't anything else out there at the moment. Last year there was Yahoo, and we did fantastic, but it truly committed suicide - so now it is basically eBay or nothing. We do a little busiess on a couple of the smaller sites, but nothing to speak of. PTL, we are doing well since returning to eBay after Yahoo's demise.

Please don't take this the wrong way. Because I don't like the new fees, and there is alot more things I don't like about the whole ebay issue.
BUT, you tell me where you can go and make the money you are makeing now from the privicy of your OWN HOME.......PLUS...you are in charge of the amount of money you want to make, also if you feel ebay is alittle slow at certain times, change what you are selling, try to sell a mixture of different things , some people sell one type of thing and that's it for them, We'll branch out and try other items also, the buyers are out there, let them find you and you will do good.
Also, I search and I see that there are lots of dreamers on Ebay, asking prices that no one in their right mind would pay.
I Say, Take a chance, I do and it works.
I let the market make the final selling price. I know the value of items, so what does that mean? My object is to sell, sell, sell it will be discovered by buyers and reach the fair market value,
I am getting burned out hearing all the complaints from people who where never able before to do what they are doing now on Ebay,
at least say, I am thankful for this opertunity to make money and in some cases make a good living.
I am sorry if this sounds harsh, but today, that is how I am feeling.
I know a gold power seller that moves 25-40 K worth of antiques & collectibles per month on eBay. I'm pretty sure he considers himself a real business.
