redskinfan:

The email bouncing might not have been the sellers fault. Our IPS has (at different times) banned a number of domains. The worst was webtv. There was about 2 months we couldn't get emails from webtv. After we (and about a dozen others) filed complaints with our ISP about not getting legitimate emails, they opened back up.

When an email bounces try a work around (several have been mentioned).

When a problem comes up, take a chill pill. I know it's hard to do, but slow down and think. Then re-think. Before leaving a negative on someone, sleep on it. Like I've said in other threads, the internet is fast, but people sometimes (for good or bad reasons) are not.

Your first post said "So this guy has my money and I'm thinking I probably won't be getting my stuff from him". Why think negativly? Raises the blood pressure, and is not good for the old ticker. Then you send a terse worded email, and the whole thing turns into a cyberwar. People who send emails when the are not calm say things they would never say to someones face, and then the person on the other end gets just as upset and...

You also said " I tried to get his contact info, but was blocked." How where you blocked from getting his contact info, was eBay having "Functionality" problems? Do you *think* the seller can "block" a buyer from getting his/her contact info? Sorry, but inquiring minds want to know.

Then you said "I wanna cry. When will this end???" I know the feeling. I have somekind of ebay related problem every week. It doesn't end if you are active on ebay, but it does get easier. Most of the problems I have, I've had before, so they are easier the second (or 15th) time.

The auction ended today and you've already left negative feedback. Why the rush?

The seller provide their website address at the top of the auction page discription in HUGE letters.

I went to their website. It lists their business name, address, phone number, fax number and a customer service email address. You couldn't find a way to contact them????

It appears they've been in business 20 years and have had a retail website since 1999. Hardly the the typical MO of a seller who would try to defraud you of $4.30.

I hope he didn't overcharge on shipping and handling too. It doesn't matter now, he already has the neg.

It's his own server. I did ip trace...it's his own server. It's his business server.

And he still most likely connects through an ISP. His server has to connect to the internet SOME way.

Some things I've found helpful in this situation as well:

1. Always wait 24 hours and see if the situation resolves itself. There are many systems that update "once a day", or get caught in some kind of error situation that only gets corrected when the human "day crew" arrives and reviews the latest happenings. Most of the time emails, payments, etc., should show up "instantly", but many of the remaining "missing" will show up within a day. If they don't by then, probably won't ever - and then you can panic, justifiably so.

2. Having problems getting email through? Ask a friend to email the person and let them know what is happening. This solves many of the "my email isn't being received" problems, many of which are caused by either your sending ISP or the receiving ISP not communicating with yours.

Note that #1 above also allows for a general reduction in emotional level, so this policy is a "two for one" special.

My first thought was to get a Yahoo account and send him an e-mail. Actually I have a Yahoo account I meant you get a Yahoo or HotMail account and try to e-mail him.

It is somewhat common for an ISP to block a domain. I even had my ISP block one cause of the garbage they were sending. Normally they block the domain then e-mail the sysop/web master and report the problem and ask them to fix it. Then they open it back up.

Jim

P.S. Did I see you neged him. hummmm not sure about that one.

Redskinfan,
I am not sure how well you want to protect your ebay ID, but from your posting of the emails, I now have your ebay name and the name of the seller.

Did you fill in the Andale form as requested in the email (I personaly hate them and will not bid on an andale auction unless it is a must have)? If so, he has your mailing address, if not, you may have confused his records system (I Hate Andale).

redskinfan Bidders Like You make Ebay A p**s poor place.
You need to really mellow when dealing with people.
It was a simple error that you blew up over.
Newbies Like You make me dread dealing with people new to Ebay.
I think it's great that you are leaving Ebay.

Hello Everyone,

Since information on the buyer/seller can apparently be found with ease, I will have to lock this thread up.
