I guess I'm in a different situation than most of you all!
A man who does yard work for us is also great at repairing things, and loves to do it. He asked one day if he could use our driveway to set up a garage sale -- he had a bunch of turntables he refurbished and wanted to get $10-$20 each out of. I questioned him further, and my mother said yes, as I said, "No, I'm putting them on ebay and we'll split the profit". The ones he has regularly bring over $100 each. He's thrilled with the idea and I like the idea of high priced items. (My average sale is $10)
Also, a man I graduated high school with is in construction. He's Amish and doesn't have much need for 'stuff'. When he was tearing down a school he let me know and told me I could have anything in it (books and magazines from the 1930s, etc). He has even dropped off finds from places he tears down. Just gives them to me.
I live in a small town, and having a college degree and no job outside the home (and being single) people think I'm lazy and a loafer until I say I sell full time on ebay. Even then they still think its a cushy job where I don't really work!
