msgenie516,

I understand. Sometimes I get so upset I don't make myself clear.

sulyn & shaani & msgenie:
The purpose of this thread was obviously to get you all riled up. The responses of the originator have made that apparent in both this thread and others.
eBay is a "real" job with "real"customers and "real" issues that can be discussed here.
This thread is, unfortunately, an example of boredom, negative attitude and instigation by the originator.
*I am a "real" buyer, a "real" seller, with a "real" job on eBay*
(it pays me Real Money and it's Real Fun, too

still counting......

I am constantly amazed at the lack of respect "some" Sellers show those that purchase their items. I have worked with the public for a few decades now, and never in my wildest dream, would I consider it appropriate to publically flame/degrade/refer as "stupid" a person who actually contributes to my living and overall economic well-being. The saying, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" comes to my mind.

Maple, I am amazed you are "upset" and find it appropriate to degrade your Buyers because they fail to recognize they purchased/bidding on more than one of your auctions. Seems to me that Buyer just saved you time & expenses in packing two (or more) items in a box vs. having to ship to a different address. So what if they didn't notice it was the same Seller? Is it REALLY that big of a deal at all? Many Sellers have auction management software that allows sorting by Bidder--very easy for YOU to figure it out, no? Equally, as a Seller, you most likely have the automated EOA notification--so very eassssssy to combine or send out an amended notice.

A simple cavaet in your TOS to the effect, "I am happy to combine shipping and save on the s/h fees whenever possible & with notice from the Buyer. Please inform me if you are bidding on more than one of my auctions so a combined invoice can be sent."

Seemingly, some Sellers do not think their responsibility goes beyond listing, collecting money and shipping. Wake up Sellers, without us Buyers you would be where?

I don't think maple should quit his day job--public sales takes a certain mindset.

ClearAsMud,

I kind of know that and the little voices in my head tell me not to get involved but my hands keep typing.

I do see buyer bashing though and not only on this thread. People have to realize we need each other and that many of us buy and sell and we do see both sides.

My point exactly!
Many of my bidders win multiple auctions ~ smart way to save on postal fees. I bid with one seller myself when I can.
The bidders that maple refers to as "dumb"?
I like them. I don't think they are "dumb" to not realize they won multiple auctions from me.
Those bidders are thrilled to hear from me!
Woo-Hoo! Combined shipping! I just saved them $$ they thought they spent!
I'll be the bearer of good news any chance I get!
JMHO, of course!

countdown over???

Well, hell, I was going to ask Maplestar what his/her eBay name was so I could studiously avoid all his/her auctions in the future.

I'm a buyer. And I try to be a "good" one--I send payment within 24 hours of auction end, always leave feedback, etc. etc. etc.

I've bid on multiple auctions from the same seller(s). Most will agree to combine shipping, but some want to deal with each auction as a separate entity--maybe that's the way they have their system set up. And, sure, there are times I could possibly forget I have another in-progress auction going on with a seller--depends on how much bidding I'm doing at any given time and how excited I am to win a particular item. So shoot me.

Sure would be handy, though, if sellers like Maplestar would simply start a thread here called, "Why We Think Most Buyers Are Cretins." Then we buyers could add them to our "Do not bid" list.

to your little voices!
All input is good (keep typing) but
Needlessly hurt feelings?
totally unnecessary!
I've only had one or two buyers that I would like to bash...teehee!
I love my bidders! Especially the newbies. I think it benefits us all to help each other up the curve.

I think maple was fired from his day job

ClearAsMud, You said "All input is good (keep typing) but

Whose feelings did I hurt? HuH?

you hurt nobody!!!
I was referring to the originator who was attempting to get a buyers/sellers bash going! The "unnecessary roughness" comment was in general referring to the "approach" maple used.
Sorry for any misunderstanding!
Un-ClearAsMud as I was!
Time for me to go to sleep!

ClearAsMud-I am afraid I was doing a little "peeking out from under the bridge" myself. I really could have posted my comments to any number of threads. I do realize that there is no point to posting about all the sucessful transactions. I also realize that most "anti-buyer" post are from sellers who encounter problems and just need to "vent". There is also comfort in knowing someone understands your frustrations when they do occur.

I am primarily a buyer and discovered AW by following a link on a sellers page. I lurked for awhile but finally made the "plunge" into posting. Eventually I tried my hand at selling. I don't know if I ever would have given it a try if not for this board. I have learned a lot from the seasoned sellers that post here. I have posted questions and had them answered almost immediately. I like having a place I can feel comfortable showing my "ignorance".

I just wonder sometimes if anyone ever stops to consider what a new member might think about sellers' attitudes toward buyers?

I think "problem" buyers are not the norm for most sellers, but since they are the only ones "talked" about and because generalization is so often used, such as: "buyers do this" and "buyers do that", it leaves the impression that sellers have a low opinion of buyers overall. True or not, that is how it seems.

In all fairness to maplestar they did say "certain" buyers so a qualification was made it wasn't a generaliztion encompassing all buyers, but I think posters could complain without calling buyers dumb, $ss, clueless, wierd or deadbeat.

You are getting waaay too much use out of that cute little bugger!
BTW, you are fashionably late. You will be serving detention!

sulyn:
I, too, have gotten help from a number of incredibly generous and informative posters.
The generalization of any "group", IMHO, is short sighted.
(be it buyers, sellers, racial, religious, etc)
The threads regarding specific issues are helpful.
The immediate answers from the vast wealth of knowledge here is priceless.
I could do without the bashing, though.

This is one I havent seen up here on the boards. I e-mailed a buyer with his total, telling him this included 3.20 (was a while ago)for Priority Shipping. When I recieve his paymnet it is in a Priority Shipping envelope, and the check is for the amount of his bid, no shipping. Sheesh.
