GreetingsfromUK -
"Is there a problem with International buyers. "
When it's not possible to get payment from them that covers shipping costs, yes!
"My surface mail shipping costs for a CD in a case to USA are around $1.00. My Air Mail costs are about $2.10.
The CHEAPEST you can get a DVD to Germany is $3.80, and it takes up to a couple of months.
"I confess that I really do not know anything about Half.com, but I am in favour of International Trading."
It's obvious that you leapt in without reading the thread or knowing about half.com's rules and operation. Would you be so eager for international business if you KNEW you would lose a couple of pounds on the transaction?
The sale was THROUGH half.com, a fixed-price listing service, and they have a FIXED reimbursement for shipping that barely covers USA mail delivery. Sending to Germany would be several times the reimbursed amount, and the only place for it to come is out of the profit on the item.

I really do not want to get into conflict here, but does your local Post Office have any knowledge of shipping costs to UK and Germany.

greetingsfromUK, no offence here, BUT YOU ARE MISSING THE POINT! Half.com DOE NOT allow international buyers. It DOES NOT do international, so IF I even decided to go through with the transaction, I TOO will be VIOLATING THEIR TOS. The Germnay fellow violated TOS, but I WOUNT.
Half.com's policy is they only sell to US customers. If you feel thats wrong, youshould email them, DONT blame it on me. I am ONLY following their policy.
Please go to www.half.com and read their TOS and email them your suggestion please. (:

My apologies for posting again. I know nothing about half.com, but cannot understand why you are unable to sell to The World. We pay US$ cash or with PayPal. Please check out the countries that can now use PayPal.

It is a seller's choice of where they want to sell. Sometimes certain items are not allowed for sale outside the U.S. Whatever the case, a seller can choose where to sell and bidders or buyers should not try to circumvent that.
Many seller's do not accept Paypal. Many buyers do not want to send cash.
INTERNATIONAL POSTAL RATES: you can figure out shipping costs for yourself.

for the 100 time, it ISNT MY CHOOSING on if I want to ship overseas or not at half.com. I sell to oversea custoemrs ALL THE TIME in ebays. However half.com (for the zillions time) has a FIXED RATE Shipping of 2.30 that they charge the buyer that the seller gets back 1.75.
You see half.com isnt really a auction place, it is supppose to be a eshop, but has sellers selling stuff, like a flea market.
Oh by the way, I did get a email from half.com, they wanted me to cancel the order, and said if you EVER see any oversea buyers, CANCEL them. thats their TOS.
So AGAIN, not MY choosing, its THEIR policy. I wish you quit thinking I am the bad guy here.

OK, here is their form letter I gotten. I wish they would cancel it instead of me, as the buyer can now rate me bad when it isnt my fault.

What part of THE SALE WAS MADE THROUGH HALF.COM AND THEY DO NOT REIMBURSE SELLERS FOR INTERNATIONAL POSTAGE" do you have a hard time understanding?
HALF.COM IS NOT EBAY AND THEIR SERVICES ARE NOT AVAILABLE INTERNAITONALLY. PERIOD!

Apparently not many of you are familiar with half.com and their ways. If you send a message to half.com, you get an automated message telling you how busy they are and how much they care. 3-4 days later they might answer you. And then they would look into the matter.
Also, it is not a matter of wanting to trade with people outside the US....half.com is set up so there is a fee charged by the company and there is no direct correspondence between buyer and seller. It all goes through half.com. The shipping fee is set. If you send a heavy book in the US you lose money.
The simplist thing is for the seller to go to the transaction and click on "there is a problem" and an email will go out through half.com to the buyer. Simply state that you do not understand the adress, and you will get an answer much faster than if you attempt to contact half.com support.

Hi ******,
I apologize for any confusion this may have caused. I checked out this
purchase and see that you have canceled the order. Thank you very much
and I appreciate you pointing this out. Some of the other sellers
confirmed in this order and I will be contacting them in hopes of
getting a hold of them prior to shipment. Again, I really appreciate
you pointing this out and for canceling the sale.
I'm always happy to help if you need anything else, William. Take care!

and an hour later I recieved this...
-----------------
Hi ******,
This violator's account is suspended. They cannot access their account
to give you a poor rating and if by some strange reason they ever did
gain access to their account to do this, we would remove the rating.
Sometimes international members enter bogus address from international
places and get through. When we catch them, we will suspend their
accounts and contact any sellers that they may have ordered from to
cancel the sale. Please do so. If you need help, I'll do it. Just let
me know. Thanks so much for your time and patience.
