(The changes are Bad and have hurt the small Antique and Collectable sellers)
At first I thought it was great that
eBay was bringing in larger companies. That sold overstocked and new merchandize, beceause it meant increased traffic with a great number of new buyers! I started selling at ebay towards the end of 1998 and specialized in Antiiques, Fine Art and Collectables!! My sales in 1998, 1999 and the first part of 2000 were very good. I sold on average 88% To 90% of the items I listed each week! Since ebay has drawn in these big corporations my sales have declined drastically and I am lucky if I sell 30% of the items I list each week. eBay increased the listing fees and final value fees, In my opinion really sucks because they lied about how this money was to be used. They told the community that this money would be used to advertise and draw millions of new buyers to their site of which at the time the mojority of the sellers were in the Antique and Collectable market not overstock and new items? I feel that bringing in these large corporations has hurt the small antique and collectable sellers at ebay!! I feel like many of the sellers at ebay feel! Many of us feel that ebay has betrayed us in many ways and its really sad because I liked it here. If there was a better online auction site I would have gone long ago. The fact of the matter is, that ebay is still by far the best online auction site out there, so I will continue to sell on ebay until a better site comes along! Craig A. Popp (poppstreasures)
