Do you remember, while the country was in total upheaval that the Russian leader STAYED away vacationing?

Well....we see GORE PLAYING FOOTBALL...GORE ACTUALLY LOOKS EAGER AND HAPPY WITH ALL THE MESS THATS GOING ON...

Gore is going around doing his 'normal' activities while the dead war heros and founding fathers turn over in their graves~

So HOW do you get rid of someone who WILL NOT leave???(Gore)...

You should post more often, you know. Clarity, coupled with astounding insight is such a rare thing in these forums any more.

The originator of this thread must want to see photos of the Veep biting his nails, scratching his head in consternation, or kevetching aloud how the GOP is trying to steal the election.

What did you prefer? Photo ops of Dubya planning his imaginary cabinet? He needs his dad for that, he's proven that he can think for himself, and senior Bush is currently in Spain, out of the country. For all of you Bush hopefuls, this is a man who called Nigeria, "a continent," and who did not know that Social Security was a federally mandated and funded reserve.

This is the bright and wonderful leadership you expect from a bumbling fool who has done nothing more in life than ride his father's coattails.

Sheesh.

One thing I've noticed...DEMOCRATS always launch personal/degrading attacks when a REPUBLICAN makes a good point.

They're doing the same thing to Katherine Harris...

It's called CHARACTER ASSASINATION...

Katharine Harris didn't need any Democrats to assasinate her character. She did it all by herself. And quite effectively, I might add.

"Personal/degrading attacks" are lobbed where? Do you mean attacks at Dubya's ignorance? If so, well, color me guilty, because he is a maroon, a buffoon and a puppet of his father who is seeking vengeance. Or, some sort of validation, since daddy was voted out of office 8 years ago.

I am attacking no one here, except the apparent middle class, suburban status quo, who believe manual, hand vote recounts should cease. Why should they? Florida, which is a state that Jeb presides over (hint, hint) should be scrutinized in light of the allegations of improprieties.

Can't you see that? Or are you so blinded by GOP euphoria that ole' George got his vindication?

And WHY did GORE pick FLORIDA to cause this mess in? Why didn't he do it in Oregon..NM???

I'll tell you why, because he is trying to CHARACTER ASSASINATE 2 political careers at one time.

Now ...can YOU see that or are YOU so blinded?

How many REPUBLICANS have you seen with voting machines in their trunk???

Voting machines in car trunks, that's the first I''ve heard of those. But wait! we have reporter down in Floridia, let me ask her, K?

Also, U answered my questions with those of your own. Can we go back to square one?

And here I was, thinking that OR and NM didn't make much difference in this election.

But We don't turn our leaders into demi-gods in Canada---we think our own politicians are doofuses too.

As far as the voting machine in the trunk..where have you been?

Check the link for yourself.

And the reason is OBVIOUS why hand counts aren't good or working...look at all the loose chads that happened to fall off the cards...

And of course the democrats are in charge of this stupid waste of taxpayers money.

And YOU didn't answer any of my quetions either.

I just don't understand Republicans. You are standing up for a man and a family that has killed people in Texas, and other parts of the world though aggressive actions. Ripped off senior's in America and plan to do more of the same. If daddy Bush was such a great president why did he only serve one term?

The Republican party has some of the nastiest, cold, unfeeling, and selfish people on the face of this earth. They are not for womens, childrens, or minorites rights. They don't care about the environment. Bush wants to drill for oil in Alaska and the California Coast. Then they have the nerve to throw religion is our faces.

You deserve what you get if he is elected, but I don't! I deserve better.

If those chads were so hard to poke that they would be dimpled or pregnant instead of loose then it would stand to reason that if they are loose enough to fall off then they must have been poked by a poker in the polling place! They must have been more than just dimpled or pregnant. Why they must have been just barely hanging on by a corner. They don't just get loose by handling.

Carole, Our country is not in total upheaval. No one is dying over this,no one is running wild in the streets, we still have a President, things are running along just fine. Nothing is going to change until January no matter who wins. Try to get a grip. You are really taking this all too personally.

Please excuse my run on sentence and poor grammar.Bad spelling ,too.Oh, and any misplaced punctuation.

I can't find the transcript for the second debate, but when read in context, it is clear that Bush does not think Nigeria is a continent. He was talking about Africa in general, briefly branched off onto Nigeria, and then summarized by saying something like "it is an important continent".

Why attack the middle class? We do not expect the benefits of the lower class, and the upper class...well let me just say I imagine it is easy to be more generous when you still have $20 million left over to spend on yourself. It is not selfish to want to keep SOME of what one works so hard to obtain.

What did I expect Gore to do whilst he waited a final count?

I expected him and his campaign people to conduct themselves with a lot more dignity than what has been shown so far. The same thing goes for the Bush camp. Both candidates and their "people" have behaved in manners that have demonstrated that neither one of them deserves to be president.

As for all the doom and gloom spouted about the programs and ideas of either candidate, should he finally make it to being sworn in-get real. Neither Bush nor Gore will be taking office with a great deal of the people's support. They'll have enough trouble simply maintaining the status quo, let alone implementing programs or changes that will cause what little base of support they have to erode even further.

Nor do presidents operate in a vacuum or without any feedback from we the people. Should the President be stupid enough to actually try to keep one of their campaign promises-and given everything I've seen so far, it's not outside the realm of possibility-do you think that people would simply accept what was being done, regardless of their perception of the potential impact? Do you think everyone in the country will passively nod their heads and blithely continue on, no matter what?

Keep in mind, too, that any candidate named for a position-be it the Cabinet or the Supreme Court-is not a shoo-in simply because the President named them. I suspect that any candidate will face a grueling confirmation process, courtesy of the Congress.

And heaven help the President if the economy should nosedive. If that happens, he will be lucky to make it to the end of four years.

I think what bothers me most about all the rhetoric I've seen spouted lately is that it appears to be more knee-jerk reaction than the result of actual thought. We're not sheep, people. We can think and reason for ourselves(not that either political party wants actual thinking, reasoning people on the loose).

As for Putin not shortening his vacation when the Kursk sank-according to the news I've heard here in Europe, his advisers told him it wasn't necessary, that there was nothing he could do. He monitored the situation from his vacation dascha-just like Clinton has monitored situations while he's been relaxing at Camp David or other vacation spots.

I'd say Putin's advisers sure called that one wrong.

IMLDS, my guess is that I voted the same ticket as you.

However, the bombastic and melodramatic statements you have made in this and several other posts - followed, of course, by accusations that those responding to you are lobbing "personal attacks" your way - are way, way over the top.

You have described those who voted for Gore as "people with a hand out". You have called Gore a liar and a spoiled brat, accused him of character assassination, and questioned the sanity of those who would vote for such a person, since the Democrates (in your view) want to do away with law.

Yet you observe that "DEMOCRATS always launch personal/degrading attacks when a REPUBLICAN makes a good point."

And YOU want to "stick to ISSUES instead of degrading comments"?

We may have voted for the same candidate, but our attitude toward people who have differing political views is not even on the same planet, let alone the same page.

To my Democrat friends: this person's posts do not represent all of those of us who voted Republican.

Oh, I see. Since I made absolutely no reference to your political beliefs, but only to your appalling behavior, apparently you believe that a criterion for being a loyal Republican is a willingness to resort to name-calling.

What, may I ask, are the rest of your criteria?

Sometimes, reading rants such as this, I wonder if freely available public education and widespread suffrage is a good thing after all.

SKitty: now, don't you go and start getting all rational about it. Where's the drama in that? Just think of all those founding fathers a spinnin' away. (Reminds me of something out of "Beetlejuice."

Yeah I can see a fella like Jefferson, who thought perhaps a real live bloody revolution every twenty years or so might be a good thing so power wouldn't get too entrenched in any branch or party, a fella like that would be like, you know, totally FREAKED and OUTRAGED by the horror, the horror currently in progress: Gore plays football; Bush hides out at ranch.

DON'T THESE GUYS HAVE JOBS TO GO TO? SO WHAT IS IT WITH THESE GUYS? Run for Pres and you get a WEEK OFF AND MORE WITH PAY? I want those guys on DOCK! Who signs their attendance sheets anyway?? A CRIMINAL waste of the taxpayers' money! More rich pols living on the public DOLE. (And I don't mean Elizabeth.)

And we're not even talking the Rutherford B. Hayes thing. How the country survived THAT DEBACLE AND SHAME only Heaven knows. (Hint: no CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, etc.)

Let's see....we still have a Pres quackin' away, still got the Judiciary as well as the Legislative Branch...and one way or another one of those rich guys with political pappies is gonna be Pres next year.

HOLY ----, get outta my way, it's time to PANIC!!!! Run! Run Away!

(Trust inertia.)

Siggy: The tom(aka my husband) would probably tell you not to encourage me to panic, overreact, and be generally unreasonable, since I'm quite capable of being that way without any encouragement whatsoever.

Why the guy was probably just taking the machine around for those voters unable to get out to the polls...he took the admonition "Get out and vote" literally.
