Hello.
I am curious about the eBay Stores. Does anyone here have one? Or know a URL that I can see one?

I have a very nice AW Store!
Can't beat the price! Made a sale the other day -- quic&easy & NO FEES! (yet -- and the ones that are pending are LOW!)
I haven't figured out yet thr advantage of Fee-Bay Stores, since they are no more searchable than the AW ones are & the fees are through the ROOF!

Hi.
I thought about getting an AW store but I don't list my eBay auctions thru AW, so I figured how is anyone going to find it. For your AW store do you have a link in your about me or what to attract people to your store?

Well...
1) On my LISTING PAGE is an eBay compliant button to my ABOUT ME page (got the button from TAG)...where there is a button (88X33) to my store!
2) THESE are FIXED-PRICE only items! I don't launch any auctions from AW (don't get me started!) but I do use the STOREFRONT!
3) PLUS...MOST importantly! EVERY SINGLE email I send has a link to the STORE!

Okay, I'll bite. How does one set up an Ebay store? I thought they didn't go on til June 18th, but if I can get started and get one setup before it actually opens, then hey, I got some work to do this weekend.

Magnumspec,
Just an observation. Went to ebay searched your name. Discoverd you had 581 auction listings. (WOW!) Went to your store. (broken pics?) anyways you have 19 items for sale in your store.
I clicked view auctions only Message says "Sorry all items have been purchased" WOW all 581 (you must be on top of the world ) Seriously though why don't the auctions show? I wasn't looking at the dates did you upload recently. I know someone said it takes like 2 days for the system to upgrade. Maybe that's it? I can see your store and I can see your auctions but not from the same page. Just wondering

Hey Magnumspec,
Looks great. Thanks for the help. I haven't found any others. Guess I have to wait a few more days to start mine.

TAG = "The Auction Guild" I believe!
Rosalinda (?) puts out a newsletter called "TAG-NOTES" which is very informative with all kinds of news & hints!
One of the pages contains GIF's for use on your eBay pages -- including a pretty nice "About ME" button.
Hopefully she'll stumble onto this discussion & give the "official" scoop!
Here's the homepage:

BUTTONS
I made my own button for my AW STOREFRONT at the adobe site...
This site has some pretty cools tools for crunching, etc.
So, make a banner & then just convert it to 88X33 & you're all set!
Here's the link to the Adobe Banner Creator:

The question I still have is how is anyone going to find these "STORES" either AW or eBay, particularly if you don't post auctions on eBay but just use the "STORE FRONT"?
tomwiii
I don't see that the eBay Store Fronts are costly, just don't see how anyone will find them AND from our experience we haven't been successful on eBay with BIN, or I don't see why a Store Front would work any better.

insight:
Sorry, I wasn't totally clear...
1) I don't launch AUCTIONS via AW -- I DO launch auctions to eBay via www.****.com!
2) I use AW's STOREFRONT for FIXED-PRICE items ONLY! Why not? It's free now & when they do charge, it will only be a small (i think 2%) FVF fee -- so, hey, why not?
3) All my emails have a link to the AW STORE: 500 hits with 2 sales -- hey, it cost NOTHING, so I ain't complaining!
4) Hopefully, AW will expand the features such as SHOPPING CART!
5) It takes NO BRAINS (read ME) to set up & manage!
6) It's FREE!
7) Did I mention that it's free?
I consider the STOREFRONTS to be one are that AW got it RIGHT! Wish www.****.com had this feature; but, they DON'T!

I have to go with tomwiii on this one! The AW stores are great and they have increased my sales dramatically. As I THINK tomwiii mentioned, the price is right too! As in currently FREE!
Just a note Tomwiii. The AW stores are searchable, but you HAVE to click the search button. Hitting enter on your keyboard won't work for some reason. There is one other little glitch too. It won't search words that are less than four letters.
One other thing that needs improvement is they need the ability to order more than one item at time -- ie. shopping cart. I have worked around that one, to save my customers frustration, and have them email me their order if they have problems and I just go into inventory and edit my quantities.
Bottom line. FeeBay currently gets as much blood out of me, and I am talking hundreds, as they are going to get. I am not going to pay $9.95 a month AND 5 cents per listing, And 5% FVF! That is just plain robbery when there are other FREE or low cost sites out there.
AW and I have had our differences, but the Storefronts are awesome! Why, it's the only board you don't see me screaming on!

Can anyone tell me if you MUST use the eBay form to list items to the store? As far as I can tell it is the only way to "stock the store".
I hate the eBay SYI form.......

How exactly does this work?
When I look at a store I see the person's auction listings.
So people are (will be) paying listing fees and final value fees for the auctions and paying listing and final value fees again on the same items if they have a store front?
Double the fees. hmmmm, that's great for Ebay. I'm not so sure about the seller. Are your ebay store listings and your auction listings seperate? That wouldn't be such a bad deal I guess.

Outoftheblue,
When you look at the Storefronts, it looks like they are all auctions, but the way to tell the difference, is the date. If they have a date in the last column, it is an auction. No date, it is a storefront item. I don't think they are paying double fees (the orginal ones are bad enough! )!

tomwii- I was under the impression that the only way you could get items into your AW storefront was to launch them through AW. How did you set yours up? Just wondering, because I think you have a great idea and I'd like to know how to do it!

Same question for tomwii (hello, I recognize you from the secret place we launch our auctions from!)
Also, how do people know to come visit your AW storefront? Can you link to it from Ebay? If so, I can't imagine that lasting very long now that they are cracking down.

Oops, sorry tomwii, re-read your previous post and see that your link is through your About Me page. So that is ok with Ebay I take it.

I now have a very nice store, with no merchandise. The "workaround" for not accepting Billpoint that was in Tagnotes did not work. Anyone know what to do now???
I read that you must end all your AUCTIONS in order to close a store...surely not.
Anyone with experience reading?
I LIKE the store...but gee I wish I could list something.

The layout of the eBay Stores still STINKS! No delineation between auction items and Storefront items. It doesn't even look like a damn eCommerce store! It looks like a hack threw it together! I still can't figure out who the heck would shop in an eBay Storefront as opposed to bid on less expensive Auction items. It's not like shopping at Amazon where you know you'll get a quality product, professionally packaged, shipped quickly, from a reputable and trusted brand name that stands behind their products. Shopping an eBay Storefront is still a crapshoot and buyers will have higher expectations than when shopping a traditional P2P auction venue. You're never quite sure what kind of business or individual you're dealing with on eBay so why pay the markup? Storefront items will be marked up compared to auction items to cover fees ($9.95 monthly Storefront membership fee, 5 cent monthly per item fee which will accumulate as items don't sell, a 5% FVF, and soon a ~3% BillPoint/shopping cart payment fee --- and you can bet these fees will likely increase) as we'll see. eBay is banking too much on the instant gratification premise. I'm betting the prices offered on the "competing" eBay auction site will prevent eBay Storefront items from having significant sell-through. You'd have to be a moron to pay for a higher priced Storefront item when you can find the same item on Auction at a lower starting bid.
After viewing Yahoo's Storefronts, I'd have to give them an A for layout/design and eBay's offering a D at best. Whoever designed the eBay Storefront should be fired IMMEDIATELY! The whole damn team! If this is how the Storefronts will appear, and eBay is counting on Storefronts to launch them to $5 billion in revenues within 5 years, prepare for the stock to take a beating when it doesn't materialize. eBay may finally fail miserably at something outside their niche. Noone's immune as 800 pound gorillas Walmart, Yahoo, Amazon and Microsoft can attest with their failed auction/eCommerce initiatives.
So what do the AW Storefronts look like?

From quick glances at some stores, AW Storefronts appear to have a nice inviting layout. Maybe that's what eBay is shooting for but they'll need a lot of work. It's not quite a Yahoo or VStore type layout, but not bad at all! If they listed Storefront items on a separate page from auction items it would be even better. Do they have sell-through and a way to rate sellers? If they do I'd be willing to pay a 2-3% FVF to list items in an AW Storefront. Sure would beat eBay and it's 6+% before paying BillPoint.
