Got a couple hundred auctions ready to launch tomorrow.

One question..will the free listing include 2nd category listing fees? In the past it has, so just wanted to check in on this one as well.

This is great, all the stuff I didn't get up yesterday and was going to do tomorrow is going to be free. I am happy. Now to work to get those descriptions ready!

MrsSantaClause -

I was always under the impression times were Pacific Standard Time so those of us in the East don't really have that extra 3 hours head start.

Could someone clarify this?
Thanks,

What about listing someting with a reserve? How will listing fees be calculated then? Not free at all? Partially free or ???

So many questions, so little information! I'd like to double list, too, if we can.

The answer from eBay posted on another message board was no, second catagory listings are a primium and you would have to pay for that or you would not be refunded that part of the fee.

Don't kill the messenger!

Yes, I just got my 1000 auctions ready to go.

Let the games begin!

It has started and so far working, a whole 5 minutes into it. Even got the credits on my account.

did you try any 10 day auctions and did it give you back the .10?

posted on June 28, 2001 12:15:05 AM new
Yes I did try them and NO the .10 was not returned. In this case the .30 listing fee was only refunded. The .10 is listed separately and a premium fee.

Not to be picky, picky but there was only 7 hours advance notice. Announcement was posted at about 17:00 PDT on Wed.

It will run until 24:00 PDT Thur. which is 3:00 AM Fri. in the East or until the system crashes, which ever comes first.

eBay must have caught wind of the fact that this might be the slowest auction week all year with the 4th falling in the middle of next week. Might just kill the entire week with many taking extended vacations. They must have seen listings plummet as sellers wised up! Funny how they schedule this to end on the 4th of July for 7 day auctions. Who's gonna be stupid enough to do that??? Was it worry or desperation on their part to increase sagging summer #s? This move doesn't really cost them anything since most weren't planning to list many auctions this week anyway. It's really a self-serving move.

I think they end on the 5th.

I put up a listing last night, forgot to change the 7 day default, and it's ending on the 4th.

pwolf,

I did some quick calculations and you're right! It does end on Thursday. How does that affect the seller's equation???

I figure there will be little bidding until the 4th is over. JMHO

For a whole lot of the world, the 4th is only another day in the week. If you sell internationally, it doesn't have that much of an impact.

Since it's on a weekday, there are a lot of people who will only get that day off.

And, there are plenty of people who won't be traveling & might be bored enough to turn on their computer & do a little surfing on ebay.

Plus anyone who sees something they want but will be traveling can always leave a nice proxy bid for it.

Finally, if it is such a concern, run 10 day auctions & pay the extra dime. Still darn cheap way to run auctions.

All in all, what's to lose besides some time when you can possibly gain some nice results?

Remember to use the new postage in your description that goes into effect on the 1st of July. It doesn't increase on everything. But it does in parcel post, media mail, 2nd oz of 1st class, etc... here is a link with the updated prices

I have never had a problem having an item end on a holiday...bidding has always been brisk. Can't see why it would be different this time.

I have just listed my junk. My apologies for helping to making eBay crash, but cannot afford the fees and make a profit. (Very small)
This is not my trading name.

No, looks like caffeitalia drug this up out of old posts, and put it at the top.

I started reading it, and right away, thought, huh, 2001, was ready to post, this is 2002, then read on, and saw it was last years posts

I've been checking the announcement board a few times, nothing yet..

How many people are going to read this ONE YEAR OLD post and not realize this is from last year and run to start launching on 6/28.

I hope sellers pay attention to detail more than bidders do.
