This is exactly what killed the Ebay live support a few years ago. Too many sellers wanted easy answers instead of trying to do it themselves.

Pardon my ignorance, Sweetboo, but you seem to be hiding as well.

The Sweetboo on eBay hasn't sold a gosh darn thing, while you, on the other hand, "quit my full time job about a year ago to do this full time."
or have you worked on eBay "night and day" without a single sale?

I'm a PowerSeller.
Much more than $100 a month in fees, BTW.
Never used the logo, never will, rarely admit to being a PS at all.
I have a lot more respect for some of the non-PowerSeller's I've met. Great group of seller's on eBay. Buyers, too, for that matter.
Wish I could find myself some "PowerBuyers" but that's a different thread alltogether.

AW is one of THE BEST (FREE) Sources for auction help and advice. I have yet to find another forum tohat compares to it.
You have been given good (also free) advice regarding etiquette. Gotta watch those P's and Q's.
The Round Table is fun for making friends, however, try to be honest and forthcoming.

You have to be a friend to make a friend.

I-NEY MY RASTA BROTHER Capriole

Lets finally set the record straight...
JUST BEING A POWER SELLER MEANS NOTHING IN THE EABY
ARENA..IT JUST MEAN YOUR GROSS DOLLAR SALES ARE HIGHER THAN
THE NEXT GUY.. now if someone mentions it out of text again I’m going to throw
my monitor at the window....

Cap you are a man of reason....This I can tell in your keyboard tone..

If your car brakes down and you limp in to the nearest service station and ask
if some one can look at it....you want them to send out the mechanic...not the kid
who scrape the bugs of the window..
When I come to the AW eBay outlook forum for advice and knowledge..It would be
helpful to know to who the advice was coming from....SOUNDS SIMPLE ..YA

When the poster says the reason they don’t like to be Identified is ..because they
don’t want the competition...well the are the people who make me wonder if
if the advice that they do give is genuine...if they don’t want the competitors
may be they are you steering us in the wrong direction...

As for me I read ever word of every post that pertains to my eBay business.
Regardless of who post it...Then I rate the newly obtained info...1st
by how much common since it makes...then 2nd who wrote it...

Have reggae kinda day my brother...

.

The reason the small town businesses do not worry about someone competing with them is cost of entry.

Selling on ebay has little or no cost of entry.

Another problem with large retailers entering an auction format is that anyone can see the volume of business they do and what is selling.

Before 24 hours is up, a competitor shows up with lower prices.

eBay didn't start the storefronts section for us regular auction sellers, it was started to help lure large retaliers to the venue.

Before it is over, eBay will either not require a FB listing for large corps, or you will see most of them with hidden FB.

I have a higher gross than many Power sellers. A power seller with 10 k FB over 3 years of selling $2 items - do the math, hardly $4 k a year gross.

Sweetboo, have you noticed that you have 33 responses and basically nobody is doing what you asked, sharing ideas. They are talking to each other or against he term "powerseller"... I tried to start a thread a couple of times & got the same results. In the past I have asked people to share ideas on interesting ways to promote our websites. Link from your auction was about all I would get back. This I figured out on my first auction. Then it basically broke down to people talking to each other. I agree with you. There has to be people out there willing to talk business. All aspects of it. Trade ideas in an intelligent give and take, without being afraid to give anything away.

"basically nobody is doing what you asked".

Some have given some friendly advice, including myself. What do you want?

If a lot of people here find the term "Powerseller" goofy, presumptuous, or whatever, then what does that tell you about much of the rest of the "community"?

The only question that was asked is where is a good place to discuss your ebay business. right?

Then she has found it, AW has to be the best place to discuss your ebay business, so then lock this thread and start another with one of the questions you have to ask.

Sweetboo.....

I too am isolated in home-based business and miss the interaction and comaderie I use to share with co-workers. Perhaps, the biggest drawback to how I conduct business and where I conduct it from is the isolation and loneliness....the lack of interaction on a personal level.

Yes, AW is wonderful to get ideas and tips on ebay selling. Terrific forum and many truly (and entertaining) ideas have spawned from AW forums. BUT, again, the anonmyous aspect of being online allows me to recognize the nickname/handle/userID but not know the person.

Some aspects & issues of selling online concern personal matters (like time away from the spouse/kids/etc, the loneliness, the backaches from sitting at a PC for hours on end!, etc. These things are not something I would readily discuss in an AW forum--rather would speak to a "friend" and someone that understands the limitations of being online so much & as a source of income.

I have not found such a group that you are requesting, sweetboo. However, a suggestion, if I may--why not start one? Topica and yahoogroups (formerly egroups), for example, offers email membership lists where the list is not moderated & others can exchange and recieve emails privately as a group. Chat rooms, like those found on IRC (Dalnet, Chatnet, Undernet and such) is another medium that can be utilized for free. I believe another person suggested Yahoo--again a viable option.

I too would like to meet new friends and share the joys and the pits of online biz within a more appropriate and personal environment. When I speak to friends & relatives about my biz, their eyes glaze over and give me that look that says, "Yes, but what do you REALLY do for work?"

Sweetboo, if you start any forum to get to know other sellers/buyers more personally, please do include me in!

Best of luck.....

MAY BE WE SHOULD ASK EBAY TO START A SPECIAL CHAT ROOM FOR ITS POWERSELLERS.
ebay does very little for its powersellers,it could have used it to do something as powersellers in general do spend more time infront of the pc,they answered emails promptly, they have good merchandise and more experienced in dealing with customer related issues.
but then if ebay 's business model is to cater to corporate clients, then most powersellers will just stay status quo, never get any bigger or better, always a small fish in a big pond.
there are some damn successful powersellers who could have become more successful if ebay gives them some assistance.
but then if ebay does not,may be someone else will.
