I've read all of this and started to think how I handle cranky buyers. I think I have become brain-dead toward them. I consider their behavior based on; not knowing the system; they've had a bad day; they are naturally nasty; or possibly they have been burned before by another seller and suspect every other one. I am nice to each and everyone one regardless. Sometimes I think it throws them off and they calm down. So many "mean" emails come back with an apology for being mean and stating whatever reason for their previous email.

I have had a lot of slow pay, but I figure, better slow pay than no pay. I had a couple of people who didn't read the descriptions and wanted to renege, but after a non-emotional note to them citing the ebay rules. the transactions were completed. Sometimes I do feel like I should bleed a little into the box as I am packing, but when I do feel this way, I take a break. I get burned out working full-time, doing on-line auctions 30/40 hrs a week in addition to everything else in my life. (if I could do without sleep, there is so much more I could do) So, I just take the time off. Last time, I took lots of pictures and wrote auctions using Mr. Lister (dividing files into 10-13 auctions each). However, I didn't submit them. There was no suspense, no pressure and I took my time. When I felt like I was ready to take on the world again, I submitted them and was ready and raring to go.

As a buyer, I have encountered only one cranky seller and being in polite company won't say what she really was.

I agree with antiquefreak. I've experienced the very same things many times over in the 3+ years on ebay. Also, how can a seller state a shipping cost if it's over 5 lbs. since you have to have a zipcode to compute the amount?? I always state shipping costs (never any handling fees) when the item is 5# or under. I've lost a lot of money on shipping over the years but still see buyers complaining about "all sellers" ripping people off....*sigh* Maybe I need a vacation!

I disagree. He really wasn't a deadbeat--he said he would pay if necessary. I agreed to try to sell it to the next highest bidder, and that's what happened. I didn't have to do that, but I said I would try. I let him off the hook. Can't neg him for that.

OTOH, people that promise payment and do not pay, or people that bid and never contact--those types I will neg.

I apologize for the above post. As most, or at least some of you know, joyz412e is my wife Joy. I didn't realize she was signed on and I wasn't.

It has happened once before, quite a while ago, and I once again, apologize. Loosecannon is my only AW ID.
