WHAT IS THE PROPER PROCEDURE? I ORDERED AN ITEM ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO THAT I NEED FOR MY WORK.IT COST OVER 400.00 WITH 3 DAY SHIPPING.SHIPPED UPS.ANYWAY ON THE 5TH DAY I CALLED THE COMPANY, AND THEY GAVE ME THE UPS TRACKING NUMBER. ACCORDING TO THE TRACKING NUMBER THE ITEM WAS DELIVERED TO MY DOORSTEP ON THE 3RD DAY.PROBLEM IS I NEVER RECEIVED THE ITEM. NEVER SAW THE ITEM. I KEPT LOOKING FOR THE LITTLE STICKER THEY LEAVE ON YOUR DOOR.NOW WHAT, THE COMPANY I PURCHASED THE ITEM FROM SAYS THEY PUT A TRACE ON IT. WHEN I CALLED UPS THEY TOOK ALL THE INFORMATION, AND SAID THEY WILL CALL ME BACK WITHIN THE HOUR. THEY NEVER CALLED BACK.I CANNOT BELEIVE THEY WOULD LEAVE A 400.00 ITEM ON MY DOORSTEP. I ORDERED A REPLACEMENT COMPUTER KEYBORD 2 MONTHS AGO. THEY LEFT A STICKER ON THE DOOR, AND COME BACK THE NEXT DAY.NOW WHAT DO I DO? HOW LONG WILL THIS TAKE? WHAT IF THEY CANT FIND THE ITEM?

One time I had two speakers delivered UPS...they were both damaged. The corners on both boxes were crushed. They replaced them quickly...but One of the new speakers was damaged!!

I was talking to my neighbor about this, and he told me that he had worked in the warehouse at the UPS here for awhile, and he said that he saw some of the workers there, that when a package was labled fragile, they threw it harder!

I don't know if they throw it harder or not-but I do know it's a waste of time to write fragile on the package.
My son has a part time job this summer at the largest UPS hub in the world. He loads for UPS air. If you could see how fast they have to load those boxes, you'd know they don't have time to check for fragile. Son says they don't even know what that word means anymore-or just assume it's something from France. (Christmas Story for any fans of that great movie-fra-gil-e) All boxes are thrown-they're coming down that belt so fast, that's the only way to keep them from bottle-necking.
I do think for the millions of packages they deliver each day-they do a great job. But I've never rec'd a flap, either. Loosecannon-I know it wasn't funny to you, but I've had a good laugh at that one. Couldn't wait to tell my son.
And the drivers. I've never had an unfriendly driver-never. With all the pressure on them-and it's a lot-I'm amazed at the job they do. Your complaint is not with them-it's much higher up!
My complaint with them now is more personal. They promise these kids the moon. Earn to learn-bonus-a certain amount of hours a week-and it all turns out to be bogus. Had I known then what I do now-I would have never wanted him to work for them.

UPS screw ups are practically legendary. I never use them to ship anything. Unfortunately I have to deal with them to receive things and they seem to have a very hard time delivering things.

My two cents ....

I have a business and receive my packages in the morning. I pay for UPS pickup so they are here twice a day.

I also use USPS.

I have had good and bad experiences with both.

OK, I'm regretting starting this thread.

We just got our second shipment of packing boxes and it appears that at least one previous poster was correct--the company we ordered from does (and did) do a lousy job of packing.

We ordered 100 small shipping boxes. We got them this time. They came in a bundle with plastic straps surrounding them. No outside carton whatsoever, and of course, the notorious flap. Yes, the flap that I assumed was torn off of the first box was really just a flap-like sheet of cardboard tucked under the plastic straps, with an address label on it.

I was wrong about this particular fiasco. It wasn't entirely UPS's fault.
