What a world we live in today. I am just a small time seller, but it is has been enough to keep from having a real job. The one thing that first brought me to auction watch quite some time ago was the universal search, what a great idea and that what hooked me on auction watch. Now kiss it good bye ,I have used auction watch for all of its other fine features but this makes it feel as I have been cheated out of something. You should not have to take two steps back for every one forward.

"After much thought, we have decided not to comply with eBay's wishes. To do so, we believe, would be anticonsumer and damaging to the industry as a whole. Standing up to eBay on this issue isn't a decision we take lightly, though. It will require our full commitment and might even jeopardize the progress we have made as a company over the last several months. Nonetheless, we believe we have to take a stand to be true to our original mission: protecting the interests of online auction users."

So much for protecting the interests of online auction users. Hope their morals were worth whatever they got from Ebay...

let me get this staright...you are partnering with ebay to make things better for us BUT you won't be searching their site in your universal search....Man that is soooo funny, a major feature of your site is now null and void. someone before called the move spineless, i second that emotion. you guys have a pair the size of peas. this site is becoming more of a joke as each minute passes. UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!

Dang it Jim -
when I saw your post in my e-mailbox, I thought I was reading that Dodd and Sales were RETRACTING their recent agreement with Ebay. I enjoyed a short moment of elation as I followed your link. Ah-well. It did make for interesting reading. Lots of Attaboy backpats being showered on the boys.
The tables have turned - All hail the almighty dollar
(note.. I've tried posting this twice before, it wouldn't appear - and the screen asking for my password showed up after given the box for message. If this one doesn't post, well then... someone is yanking my rug out)
Rosie
(edit comment - good, rug seems in place)

Hello jimtrashcity,
As AuctionWatch has evolved over the past few years, we have had to make changes to our offerings to meet the needs of our customers, who are now predominantly sellers. Our current partnership with eBay allows us to offer our customers what they have been asking for: a faster, more stable auction launching/management solution.

Thank you for your response, Diana. Can you tell us what has changed in order to make the removal of Ebay auctions no longer "anticonsumer and damaging to the industry as a whole", as your founders said?
I also note the change from the previous commitment to "online auction users", to "customers". Looks like Ebay and AuctionWatch might be appropriately mercenary partners for each other after all...
For the vast majority of AuctionWatch visitors, this is a massively retrograde step, as postings in this thread show, rendering your "Universal" [LOL!] Search facility useless. You have just driven off your potential customer base - most online sellers start off as buyers. Your actions have left me certain that I won't buy any products or services of yours in future, because it's obvious AuctionWatch will happily go back on their word for financial gain. Good work!
PS I'd say twelve months at the outside until Ebay buyout or Chapter 11.

Don't hold your breathe expecting a dialog with AW.
Just like EBAY - you get Press Releases instead of answers - or smoke & mirrors.
Mostly smoke & mirrors.
For the record: AW members have always been overwhelmingly sellers. OK, I can only vouch for the time frame dating since 1998, that's when I started reading here. At that time I was strictly a buyer, and vastly outnumbered.
