Yeah, I heard it too. And if I posted what I really thought about it, I'd get kicked off the board.
Let me just say that his speech did nothing to endear him to me. In fact, quite the opposite.
Alan Dershowitz suggested (MSNBC, I think) that Bush's actions and words amounted to the beginning of a coup d'etat -- ignoring the rule of law to insert himself as President. Or try to.
Whatever, it certainly was unseemly.
The lad has problems (see Note), and he's certainly not statesman material. Those of us eying him warily hoped that at least he'd surround himself with clever and sage advisors. But that IS a lot to ask of a man like Dubya. Obviously, too much.
Note: I rather like tne line from an editorial I read the other day -- something about George Bush Sr.'s "unaccomplished and deeply superficial sons."

I'm anxious to see if anyone answers the door at the White House when Cheney rings the doorbell for entrance into the transition room.

Oh yeah, Alan Dershowitz adds credibility to the Gore side. I suppose Mark Furman was tampering with the ballots. "If the chad ain't out, the vote don't count".

Well, he may have declared himself president, much like Napolean crowned himself Emperor, but the GSA, at least, isn't buying it.
From CNN's website tonight, Sunday,
11-26-00:
"Bush announced plans to begin a transition Sunday night, but the General Services Administration -- the government agency that supplies material resources to federal employees -- said it would not yet provide money or office space to him or Gore to plan a new administration.
"Until the results are clear, and as long as both sides are going to court, the results are not clear yet," GSA spokeswoman Beth Newberger told CNN.
Under the 1963 Transition Act, Newberger said, it is the GSA administrator, not the sitting president, who decides which candidate may receive the transition resources."
Now taking bets on where the next GW boil will pop up, and when Cheney will have his next heart attack.

How big is a teleprompter? I mean will it fit in a car? Or a helicopter?
Did anyone see him leaving his house to go to the state house? Did the wave look familiar?
Das ist der big disgrace.

I cant stand looking at him. It nauseates me. If we are doomed to have him for 4 years, I guess I will be glued even more to my pc and these boards. Anything to avoid looking at him. I dont understand how half the United States WANTS him. Are they blind?

Yeah, the teleprompter thing. How hard is it to memorize a line like "I am now the big Kahuna". Is there no thoughts in his head that weren't put there by somebody else? And he needs to either get some glasses or learn how to read, for chrissakes. He stumbles over the big words.

I'm so disgusted at Bush's premature announcement that I can hardly speak. He's attempting to use the old 'possession is nine-tenths of the law' strategy which is inappropriate in a presidential election. I don't even want to talk about it.
I give him a 2.0 out of 10 for that little performance.

It reminds me of the kings and princes's of old times who were idiots and/or morons who ruled at face value but really had no control at all, and it was the "behind the scenes" guys who were truly the rulers. Methinks this little Bush fits that mold. But what the "behind the scenes" guys dont realize is, that little bush will have a tantrum once in charge and may not be lead very well. Sorta like stomping the foot and hollering "Im in charge, so THERE!".

His Hindneness (as in butt) was more repulsive then usual tonight. He's not a bad looking man, but his ugliness on the inside seeps though to the outside. I wish he would put a bag over his face so I wouldn't have to see those beady eyes and that smirk.

This whole thing is so stupid! It would have been so much simpler to just really take a look at the ballots. I do not believe split tickets are allowed. If someone voted straight Dem or Rep. and the dimple was in line with the ticket vote, then it is safe to assume the vote should count for the straight ticket vote, right? I mean for crying out loud, if it walks, talks, and sounds like a duck, it is safe to assume it is a duck! So elementary. Gore looks like he is gonna cry and Dubya looks like he just peed his pants! How about we govern ourselves for the next 4 years! Can't do any worse, can we?

I know I'm in the minority around here but - YEAAAAHHH!!!!!
BTW, The Associated Press reported this evening that Mr. Bush made a point of requesting that the media not refer to him as President Elect until this is completely resolved through the courts. He asked that they continue to refer to him as Governor Bush.
I didn't vote for Governor Bush the first time he ran for office in Texas. I guess what goes around comes around because now I see many of my same sentiments that I expressed six years ago repeated here. I'm not Republican (or Democrat) but I did vote for him in this election because I appreciate his work and his progress in Texas. Should he prevail as President, I hope that you'll all be able to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Not paranoid anywhere else but here!

I am disgusted beyond words and physically ill.
Hail to the Chief, my a$$.
"Johnny, you can become President someday. Despite what you might have heard, you don't even have to do anything worthwhile in your life. In fact, you can be downright UNproductive; heck, you can even be an alcoholic and drug addict, get arrested and go AWOL if ya want. Want to lay around and do nothing for 8 years? No problem. The American public is so dimwitted they'll vote for you anyway!!"

If this were in Serbia I suppose they would be storming the Parliment like they did a few months ago over an election there that was almost exactly like this one as far as the count being close and suggestions of irregular ballots - interferance etc.
I can't imaigine Americans taking to arms in the street over the same level of problems. For one thing neither candidate inspires that sort of passion in his followers OR his opposition.
On the other hand perhaps this will make the
foriegn countries back off on terrorism. I sure would not bomb the Cole with a president who looked like a petulant schoolboy with muclear weapons. He might throw a tantrum and turn my country into a warm parking lot.
Either I can't spell or "muclear" weapons come out of the nose.

How many recounts do you all want? I mean..this is really absurd...guess it doesn't count til Gore wins..hahaha.
I know you all will attack me personally for voicing my opinion here..but I really don't care what you all say!
I don't CARE that he was convicted of drunk driving a long time ago (What did Clinton say..I didn't inhale...yeah right).
As for AWOL check out the facts before continuing to spew forth this dribble. (Gore with a cushy job as journalist and even a body guard is real duty..yea right).
(Did we forget draft dodger CLINTON?)
Regarding manual counting...you don't change the rules AFTER the game. Why do you all keep thinking that is ok?(In that case I can change my lotto ticket coz I meant to play winning numbers?)
What Texas does regarding voting has nothing to do with Florida! You can't change the rules coz you don't like the outcome.
As for the teleprompter...who cares that Bush reads it? Doesn't mean a thing about his capability to lead etc.
Character assasination is all dems and their supporters know how to do when they loose. That is what is happening on these boards as well.
Who cares if protestors were bussed in? They were peaceful(oh..yea...that MOB scene..haha..check out Watts in LA for what a real mob is like).
The democrat supreme court set the deadline and when Gore didn't appear to be able to meet it he wanted to change the rules again!
K. Harris SHOULD have had a smile..I know I did I'm surprised she didn't shout for joy.
As for ambassador...yep..I'll second the nomination! Brave woman!
As for not liking Bush...I feel the exact way you do regarding Gore. Looking at him makes me want to Puke.
Of course he reinvented himself so many times it wasn't funny. Then of course he invented the internet. Oh...and what about the China deal? And the fundraising scam in Ca?(yea right...he didn't KNOW..garbage!)
Down with SORE LOOSERMAN!
YIPPPPEEEE FOR PRESIDENT BUSH!
