Hi:
I added BIN to all my 1/NR auction's! Did anyone else do this or did you just list for 1/NR?

Well, I'm proud to say that I relisted the items for $1NR with 7 days this go round. I know $1NR works as that was what I've done before -- I was just worried about the 3 days things with slow weekend traffic.

Funny.

The FIRST person to view each of the auctions, placed a $1 bid. So the ball is rolling.

I have a bunch (9) of software titles on $1NR (new copies of games on my shelf). They were for 7 days as well. They have about 4+ days left to go.

7 of them have bids.
2 that don't are duds anyway -- I was just hoping I could lure someone in for them

2 have a single $1 bid.
2 have 6 bids (one up to $18 already).
3 have 2 or 3 bids.

So they are doing ok.

The four items that failed in my AW, I listed for 10 days 1NR and nothing. Views, but no nibbles.

I see no problem ending any non bid auction and relisting immediately......

The closed auction stays in search for a while and has a clickable link to the relisting. So myeBay watchers do stay tuned.

But you need to have a sure-seller to avoid double fees.

Buy it now and 3 day auctions are fine for in demand items.

Who has faced added competition after posting a 7 or 10 day auction from others listing for shorter times and drawing your bidders?

I believe the medved charts "show" how BIY and 3 day auctions were the sales creators on June 28 FLD

Count me as a wimp. I once did a $1NR on a beautiful lamp. Ended it early, and it sits on my nighttable, complete with beaded shade.

May I just tell you the flip side? In the last couple of months, I've had three items end with no bids when I started them low, then end successfully (and with more than one bid) when I relisted them with HIGHER starting bids.

I believe $1NR is a great marketing tool. I also believe that not one business model fits all. Building an acceptable profit into my opening bid works for me (and others that have posted here), $1NR works for others. I can't imagine that my little 1950 book on Arc Welding is going to get as many hits as auctions for designer shoes, for eg. Therefore, not everything can be marketed the same way.

Good luck on your auctions!

Only 14 items on eBay associated with Club99.

I think those people lost their shirts during all the eBay weekend hiccups.

If you've got an item that for sure will sell well, $1nr is fine. If you're trying to get rid of junk, chances are it will sell for $1 or $1.50.

The number of page views and bids is not significant. The final price is what counts.

Another factor to consider is whether your item is worth $5 or $500. Listing a $500 item at $1nr is much riskier than listing a $5 item at $1nr.

I usually sell 50 or so of the same item at the same time, so $1nr doesn't work well for that. Also, I depend on my eBay sales and I can't justify listing ALL my auctions at $1. No reason to put my livelihood at risk.

The only time I would use $1nr is if I had a unique item that I KNEW would sell well. In that case, sometimes the bidding does go higher than expected.

Jen,
Thanks for keeping us updated, I have enjoyed your posts and hope your shoes do well!

Don't let the "negative nellies" like kiawook discourage you with their "cold water" attitudes!

It is posters like many of you on this thread who are willing to share and "open yourself" up that help all of us learn!!!

Keep up the good work, girl!

May the ebay fairy bring you lots and lots of bids!

I use the $1.00 or $0.01 starting price on items I know will get 10-30 bids... no reserve and values up to $1,000. But this is for collectibles that ALWAYS sell and lots of bidders. I usually get a higher price with a no reserve auction.

I also sell new books, I almost never list them for less than the minimum price I will sell them for as they will usually not get very many bidders and I've lost money on them several times when I've started them out low.

I did have an item with a reserve price of $125 that didn't hit the reserve, then I relisted it at $150 starting price no reserve and it sold for $175... Go figure...

So, my opinion is that the right buyers happen to see the item at the right time... pure luck...

$1 no reserve can be scarey but a good shill can calm those fears. if the shill wins you keep the item and pay the fvf. on a good day the shill gets the other bidders motivated and the shill loses the high bid.... just a theory not a practice

What is the big deal? I start all my auctions below $10.00 with no reserve. Everything from $5-$1000 items. I save on fees ($3.30 uggh). Also, it gets many people involved and determined to buy. I would not reccomend 3 days, because not everyone gets to see them. I know most advice against ending on sunday, but I do 7-day auctions Sunday evening at 8:00 CT. I rarely take a loss on anything.

"The number of page views and bids is not significant. The final price is what counts."

Hmm......

I sell alot of the same type of items, new titles each week. The goal is to have as many people see my auctions as possible. If they see nothing this week, they will be back next.

Lots of bids, means lots of "you have been outbid" e-mails. I love having my id spreading all over the Internet.
