"Who cares that he was reading directly from the teleprompter?"
Gee, I don't know. It would be nice to have a President that could pronounce words with more than 5 letters in them. This is our leader and you are okay that he cannot speak on his own. Hello - how desperate are you guys to try to make him look okay.
He is what he is - a drug addict/alcoholic with a fried brain who cannot pronounce words or read on his own. Oh yea, and he may be our leader next - yipeee!!! What a pick!!
Bush supporters do not care that he has driven drunk more than once, been in re-hab for cocaine addiction, has a horrible record in Texas, cannot speak without the use of a teleprompter, cannot pronounce words of more than 5 letters, does not understand nor can pronounce foreign countries.
Are you that desperate to get someone in office? He has no moral character and is just daddy's puppet.
If he felt he won he would push for the re-count finals to that there would be no question. He would have enough pride not to say I won I won but await the final decision. BTW - Kathleen Harris is not the final decision as much as she would like to be. He would hire a PR guy to make sure he looks alive when he speaks. He would hire a speach trainer to gain some speaking 101 habits.
He has done nothing to gain anyone's favor other than those in his party that vote strict party lines. Why not try to endear the entire country to you?
Why - b/cuz with daddy's power and influence he does not have to. Good ole boy Jeb made sure he got Florida. Harris will be an appointee for him and the spoiled addict gets to play in the big white house.
Wow - makes me proud to be an American. My sister lives in France and they laugh at us 'silly' American leaders as they say.

Yeah, KatyD...they did. Gore appealed La Barga's (sp???)ruling to the Supreme Court. They denied his appeal.

I don't believe the Florida Supreme Court denied Gore's motion to force a recount in Miami Dade County. I don't think that was an issue ever put before them.
Gore's lawyers did go all the way to the Florida Supreme court last week over the Miami-Dade county hand count.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Reuters) - Democrat Al Gore (news - web sites)'s campaign remains defiant on in the battle for the White House, vowing to contest a vote tally in Miami-Dade county after Florida's Supreme Court refused to order officials there to keep counting ballots by hand.

Ah, then I stand corrected. Thanks for the link. Sheesh! The least they could do is just throw the whole damn thing and all the petitions to a single court like the US Supreme Court so that all of us AWers could at least have an easier time of keeping track of the filings and decisions! It would be so much easier. Thanks toke, and uaru.

"It is a woefully convoluted mess."
Just Palm Beach county legal mess has become impossible to understand.
They are challenging whether or not a new election because of the Palm Beach "butterfly ballot" is possible or not in the Florida Supreme court.
In Palm Beach, the Gore lawyers want to include recounted votes.
At the same time the Gore lawyers are challenging Palm Beach's standards for counting the dimpled ballots.
They want a revote, they want to include the hand recount, and they want to challenge the standards of the hand recount in Palm Beach county? Convoluted mess is an understatement!

Yeah, old Al Sharpton and his voice of reason should be a real PR boost for Gore. I'd seriously suspect the Bush campaign paying for Sharpton to show up. What a clown that character is.
"Civil-rights activist the Rev. Al Sharpton turned up, prompting a huge outcry within the pro-Bush group, which shouted him down with chants of “Go home, Sharpton, go home.”

IMLDS2,
"As for the teleprompter...who cares that Bush reads it? Doesn't mean a thing about his capability to lead etc."
The man does not speak or read well. I'm sorry, but the man comes across as illiterate. And like his father, when faced with blunt, to-the-point questions, he goes on the attack rather than give a substantive answer. Maybe having a president that seems intelligent is too much to ask these days (either party).
"Character assasination is all dems and their supporters know how to do when they loose. That is what is happening on these boards as well."
Hmmm. I vaguely remember a thread that YOU started a few days ago, "for Republicans only". It contained across-the-board stereotyping of Democrats, even to the point of declaring your hate of them!!! In your seemingly party-line mentality, you blamed all of America's faults on the Democratic Party. That sounded a lot like character assassination to me.

Das ist der big disgrace.[/i]
Ooooh, I saw that, krs. Creepy.
Something else I noticed, later. The very brief but very odd look on his face immediately after he crowned himself President. His eyes popped open, his eyebrows flew up slightly, and his mouth turned into that infamous smirk. All very quick, but definitely there. A little 8-year-oldish for me.

If this gets dragged out and it is decided that Florida's 25 electoral votes can simply not be included in the electoral college voting (and Gore wins because he will have the majority of the votes that are included), will he finally drop the EVERY VOTE COUNTS mantra?

Hi shar9.
Apologies for the delay. RL interferred today.

I would have been surprised if the U.S. Supreme Court would have allowed cameras into the proceedings. It was probably a wise decision.
Guess I'll have to treat myself to a box of Russel Stover's instead. Yum.

Hmmm...the DEMOCRATIC Judges set a deadline...and it was complied with. You all have a problem with that?(The judges didn't say count until it's done...they set a deadline!)
Hmmm democratic canvassing boards...different standards regarding 'dimpled ballots' between counties..lot's of confusion and a very feeble attempt to 'FIND' votes for Gore.(Not count them...As Dole said they were 'CASTING' them for Gore).
Lots of insults being slung at republicans as usual...notice the republicans aren't throwing too much around...only dems.
Bringing up other threads that you invaded and proceeded to sling insults around.
I wonder if you all realize how terrible YOU sound/read.
And do you really think Gore had the authority to 'offer' to count all the counties in Florida???Who is he kidding! He had no say in any of that. Talk about looking stupid..boy did he ever!
Rush was write...all dems want is a recount until GORE wins...nothing else is acceptable..hahaha...well guess what...

Hi femme,
Russel Stover's sound good to me!
IMLD2,
Perhaps you would prefer lemons with your words.
I won't pretend to use the word Republican as a denegration. I try to respect everyone's opinion. I may differ very much with an opinion but I hope I never sound as bitter and mean as I am perceiving your posts to be.
I do hope I am mis-understanding and you are a very kind person and not a lonely bitter person if so, I do apologize most sincerely.
