and a very feeble attempt to 'FIND' votes for Gore.

IMLDS2, how can anyone "find" votes for Gore if they're not "counted" in the first place? Oh and how about the over 10,000 in Miami Dade alone that weren't counted at all, because the MACHINE couldn't pick up a vote. Yup, these people all went to the trouble to go to the polls, but when they got there, they realized they didn't really want to vote after all, right? So...why IS Bush afraid to have a complete count? Why HAS he fought a complete and accurate manual count in Florida from day one? If he was honest and wanted to win "fair and square", it wouldn't bother him in the least, would it? The reason he has fought and continues to fight recounts is because he knows he did not win Florida. He did not win the popular vote. As for your unseemly cackling gloat over his self-crowning, just remember, it aint over til it's over, no matter what your dear Rush Bimbaugh tells you. And even were he to become President, just enjoy your next 4 years, because in 2004, it's gonna be PAYBACK time in spades, and at least for the next 8 years. That alone may well be worth suffering the next four years if the idiot Bush manages not to bankrupt us first.

Franny I don't think we're the laughingstock of the world -- or at least not yet. Sure there may be political cartoons, etc. I'm sure some countries are delighted to have something to snicker at where the U.S. is concerned. But they're laughing a little prematurely, I think, not giving a chance for all of our elegant (if messy) provisions for such occasions as this to fully unwind themselves.

Remember too that there are other countries who are stunned, in the best sort of way. After all, there are no tanks in the streets, no refugees stgreaming across our borders in the opposite direction, no violence, no coups, bloody or otherwise.

MY fear is that we'll be considered the prime hypocrites of the world IF we get a President who got there by insisting that legal votes not be counted and doing everything in his power (but indirectly -- through his campaign, of course, so he has *plausible deniability*) to thwart them being counted, with the aid of a clearly partisan Secretary of State in the very state for which his brother is governor. I mean really, we've no doubt insisted on better handling of elections in countries where we've sent our own emissaries to oversee their elections. Oh well.

and for anyone who cares----the Polls close in Canada's National election in 5 minutes.

It is illegal to have exit polls---and no results can be broadcast until all the polls across the nation have shut down.

Hi katyD,

I keep wondering how people can say votes have been counted and recounted if the 10,000 haven't been counted to begin with?

Clever Girl,

Oh how I hate that term, "Plausible Deniablilty".

The rest of your statement on how the rest of the world thinks of us I think will be fine as long as they can see our system work and that includes seeing it through the courts. Why would the U.S. stand for a man that would be put in office only to say later, "OOPS" but at least he was a gentleman and stood down.

I was for a complete recount of the whole state to begin with for both sides.

What makes anyone think it is OKAY to change the rules at the end of the game?(So the football team loosing should continue til playing until they win...right?)
HAHAHA

Where is Gore 'finding' votes...well honey...surely you all can figure that one out! They seem to come from no where!

As for people voting and they think it might not have been in the right 'bubble'...too bad! It appeared in the paper ...no one complained it was too complicated...or anything.

I say good ol' Al is a cheat...sore looser...and as he said himself he would do ANYTHING to win the election.

This guy is going through a MIDLIFE CRISIS and we have to watch it! He has no place to go when he's out of office...certainly can't go home to Tennessee..haha.

Bush won't be a one term President. Why? Because the republicans are 'mad' now..and we aren't gonna sit back and think the dems play fair...(because they don't know what is truly fair). I know I'll be out there helping Bush win..

And for Al winning the popular vote...yea right! If all the votes were counted fairly in other states as well I don't think Gore would win..nope...he is a stuffed shirt..yucky!

Now...why don't you comment with an intelligent opinion instead of 'intelectual dribble' and character assasination?

SORE LOOSEMERAN
YIPPPEEEE PRESIDENT BUSH!

You're exactly right, Shar! The whole damn state of Florida could have been manually recounted, and we would have been done with all this by now. But the one person who didn't want the light of day shone on the Florida ballots is the one trying to convince the American people that "he won". Yet he refused to allow an honest recount with observers from all parties present. Why? Because he knew that when they were tallied everybody would see that the "emperor has no clothes!".

IMLDS2, please do yourself and us a favor, and find yourself a good spellchecker program. Or at the very least, run all your posts by krs before you post them. I'm sure he'll be happy to spellcheck them and edit your grammar. Just because we know GW can't read, we really don't want to believe that his supporters can't spell. On the other hand, maybe this why GW has education reform on his agenda.

Gotta love it - 'intellectual' and 'assassination'

And what is a 'loosemeran'? Is this similar to a 'loose goose'? Or is he trying to say 'loser man'?

Now why the heck aren't those first four lines in italics?

So now it's back to 'you can't spell'...'you're grammar's bad'...yadayadayada...<sigh>

The way you all are so stuck in your 'honest count'...

Notice no one commented on my comment about Al not having the AUTHORITY to offer to count the state manually.Hmm...

Lets see...Calif also has the chads...and there was almost 200,000 votes rejected..so how come ol Al 'crybaby' doesn't want them counted?

Why did they send out a 5 page 'memo' on how to disqualify MILITARY votes?Duhhh...let's see...hmmm...

And if I use the word WE and it bothers you to bad...

I simply can't believe so many are believing the '****' Gore is dishing out! Hahaha...

A lot of people on this board are as liberal strait dems and yet you dare point a finger at me "you are a rep!..etc"...open the eyes people...BUSH is better than SORE LOOSERMAN..

Now if the truth were known <don't everyone faint on me!>I'd PREFER Collin Powell..but because of the character assasinations that happen to public figures..I doubt he'll ever run.

YYYYIIIPPPEEEE FOR PRESIDENT BUSH

Hi Linda,

Haven't met you before so I'll say hello and nice to meet you.

I am truly trying my best to pound those words into my head but my head is really getting sore beating it against this rock.

Robin,

I love that lil blue guy and he is in tempo with my head tongiht. We have a mean beat together.

I saved that smiley list one day but have lost it so I am glad I remember the important one .

Franny,

You mean we can't say, "BLACK"?:lol

KatyD,

You know, one day last week I turned the radio on AM and listened to some of what people refer to as "Religious Right Wing" and while I understand and respect religion those were undoubtedly the meanest talking mean spirited people I have ever heard. Talk about religious ferver! There was only one problem. I never heard one reference to religion, just meaness.

Now, if IMLDS2 would only pull her tongue out of her cheek and tell us what she really thinks so we could better understand.

MsModerator: IMLDS2 said her posts were tongue in cheek. I am only making a suggestion. For clarities sake.

Lets see...Calif also has the chads...and there was almost 200,000 votes rejected..so how come ol Al 'crybaby' doesn't want them counted?

For the simple reason that here in California, the vote was not EVEN close. California voted overwhelmingly for Gore. If there had been an initial 1700 votes separating the two candidates, we would have had a recount. And IF Bush had been only 1700 votes BEHIND Gore in California, you can bet your sweet apple that HE would have asked for a manual recount because of the large number of electoral votes that California has. It's really not that hard to figure out, IMLDS2. You know, I'm really starting to give up on you. I had hopes that you would be able to separate your feelings of animosity toward Al Gore from your feelings toward the posters here. Some may be democrats and some may be republicans, and some are neither. But IMLDS2, no matter our differences, we seem to be able to debate and exchange opinions here without getting overly worked up and insulting. With the exception of you. I really think it's time for you to separate your feelings of ill will toward Gore from those of us who believe differently. That is what makes this world an interesting place. We CAN have opposing opinions but still respect our differences. Please try it, IMLSD2. We really are a friendly lot here. And it's only a chatboard.

"Lots of insults being slung at republicans as usual...notice the republicans aren't throwing too much around...only dems."

And, as usual, you are a Republican doing exactly what you claim Democrats are doing. Pot calling the kettle black. But you are a Republican, level headed, conservative. That is why you, as Bush (I won, I won) have resorted to playground mentality - as in your ending statements in caps regarding POOR LOSERS. You represent your party well.

What is the addict so afraid of? That the votes the machine could not count would make it so he did not win. He should be attempting to gain the respect of the entire public not just his party as all great leaders do. Then again, we know he will never be considered a great leader so it really does not matter.
