This from a person who was also a high FB seller:
"As soon as I receive the money owed me, I'll pay you"
Three weeks later:
"I still haven't received any money so I can't pay you yet but I really want the item"
The funny part is, her ads had one of those tuff payment policies you know the kind: " payment must be received within 7 days or auction is void and negative FB will be left....."

I got one of those I'll pay you when I get payed ones, thing is he must have never gotten paid because I sure didn't, filed for my FVF's and he was already NARU'd.
My favorite is," my mom won't let me pay for this auction unless I receive the items first, I'm only 14". The kicker, the auction was for an adult novelty item. I neg'd her and reported it to ebay with but nothing ever came from it.

Keep in mind most of my buyers owe me under $10....
"I'm on vacation right now and will send payment when I return in 2 weeks." Reminder sent at 3 weeks, reply? "I just got back from vacation will get you taken care of in a couple of days" Never pays, I turn them in to ebay and THEN they write. "I guess I won this auction but have no record of it..can you send me the details, etc?"
2 weeks after the auction had ended(I requested payment within 10 days of auction's end) customer writes, "My old cat got sick today and unfortunately we won't be able to buy anything until November, can you wait until then?" For $8???? Yeah right!
"My credit card is maxed out - I'll have to wait until I get paid next Friday!" This one was for a $7 purchase.
"We had 2 funerals this week and I lost my job yesterday. I'll have to ask my mom, who has the flu, if I can borrow $5 from her. It may take me a couple of days. If you don't want to wait I'll understand. Maybe you could relist the item?"
"I can't believe you turned me into ebay for a lousy $9!!!!! Every seller I have ever dealt with has given me 30 days to pay! You must be really desperate for money!" Who's desperate here? Me or the guy who can't round up $9 within 2 weeks?

I bought this for the Bingo Hall,I've been in the hospital and I thought they took care of it.This is the last time I'll do something for somebody. You can't depend on anybody. Never did get the payment, and the Bingo Hall will never be the same.
First of all, let me say that I am truelly sorry for your recent hardships. We have also hard hospital and nusrsing home problems in the last year.
However, keep in mind that many (if not all) ebay sellers have heard just about every excuse possible for non & late payments.
(some of the reasons are getting very popular!)
As much as I give just about everyone the benefit of doubt, sometimes it's just too much! This thread was started with the intent of raising a laugh or two, nothing more. We need to vent once in awhile to save what's left of our sanity.
>"Before bidding on this item, please see a cardiologist!"<
morettini I may add that line to our new auctions!

This was my favorite:
"I'm so sorry I can't pay for the sweater. I broke up with my girlfriend and I'm so depressed..the sweater was for her. I'm so sorry, go ahead and neg me.."
I file NBP and get my FVC.
Two weeks later HE BIDS ON THE SAME ITEM AND WINS! I don't notice it until there are 4 seconds left to the auction and it's too late to cancel.
I had to file another NPB on the second item and he finally paid.

This is one of my all time favorites in 4 years of selling on ebay, just received not so long ago after an NPB was filed:
"I just got an email from ebay this morning requesting payment. I understand your frustration, but it was a genuine family emergency. My 13 year old daughter ran away from her father's house in Oklahoma City. It was not my wish to cause any problems, and I will be glad to pay for the item anyway. I understand this must be an ongoing problem for ebay sellers and I am new to buying, but would never not honor a commitment. I am sorry for the inconvenience to you & would like to forward the funds anyway."

I ALWAYS put a shipping amount in my auctions when it's posible. This was NO exception. I sent my EOA and in reply got
sorry i'm not paying 4.60 for shipping, thats INSANE and i wont pay it, not for a three dollar botlle
He was new, so I explained that was the cost including shipping and ins... he replied
sorry but thats just plain ridiculous
*L* Still being patient, I did warn that I would be filing for my FVF to which I got a final
sorry carol for the hassle but thats utterly insane to charge that much more than the item to ship the damn thing
*L* I counted my days and now he's NARU *L* I saw from his feedback, he only paid when he wanted. At least he told me on day 1.

"One very abusive one~WHERE IS MY BOOK 2nd email I MAILED OUT 2 MONEY ORDERS ALREADY!!!~ never received payment for this item ~ still waiting for neg~ but I figured the guy flipped out~ he left several negs which appeared to be for no reason after he had himself received many positives ~ he was a buyer and seller so I think he probably went off the dead end and freaked out for some reason~ oh maybe that 's another good excuse!"
I had someone pull one like this on me too. She was very creative. Started emailing me 2 times a day 5 days after the auction was over stating she had sent her M/O and asking if it was received yet. Two weeks after the auction ended and no payment, it just hit me one night that maybe she never sent the money order and was trying to put it on me. Well, to make a long story a little longer, the item she had won was for $16.00. I went to look at her other bids, and found she had won an identical item to mine for $4.50 three days after my auction ended. I reported this to eBay and got a wonderful email saying that they'd take care of it right away, hahaha. Basically, they just blew me off and made me wonder why I took the 10 minutes to write them. I finally told her that obviously the money order was just lost in the mail but the PO would replace it if it never showed up. She wrote back and said that because of this incident she was now afraid to buy anything on-line and this had ruined her impression of eBay, etc. I wanted badly to write back and say I knew she got the item cheaper but couldn't see the point especially if eBay wouldn't back me up so I just told her why don't we just cancel and say it was a mutual agreement. I got a reponse within an hour agreeing that that would be just fine. The whole tone of her final email was just a little too cheery. OOOHHH well......

Sometimes its not the ones with excuses that are the worst though.... I find its the ones that send you a contact address a week after the end of sale, and then two weeks later, when you contact them about where the payemnt is they write back with "payment is in the mail", then two weeks later you contact them again, and no reply, and then a week later you contact them again, and no reply, and then you file an NPB and no repsonse, and then you finally get your refund from ebay and leave a neg and then they get all bent out of shape and retaliate or write you an email full of obscenities! You have just wasted nearly 2 months waiting for payment and by now the undebidder isn't interested etc. At least escuses offer some form of entertainment for your angst!

My favorite: Inexpensive Physical Therapy Book sold to a person who signed all their emails with 'Dr'.
After two weeks I contacted him, he insisted he had paid by Paypal. I told him that the most common reason for Paypal payments failure was a typo in the email address, told him how to cancel his payment, & resend the money. He emailed back saying HE DID NOT MAKE TYPOS OR OTHER MISTAKES but he had done as I asked, cancelled & resent.
No payment received. I contacted him again. He insisted he had sent the 2nd payment to the email address I had sent, & that any typos were on my part. HE DID NOT MAKE MISTAKES. I calmly suggested he cancel the 2nd payment and I would send him an invoice.
No word for about a week. Then received Paypal payment and email saying "I took the computer to the shop to get the bug fixed and they discovered I had sent your payment to the wrong address." How'd you like to work for that guy!
ROFL re 'poisoned myself with canned pears" and 'please check with cardiologist before bidding.'
posted on August 11, 2001 08:41:17 AMJULY 13: My computer crashed and I cannot access my emails, so I signed up for hotmail. Please send an invoice and I will pay via PayPal.
oops. I don't accept PayPal. I immediately re-sent my EOA.
JULY 21: My mother was in a horrible accident on JULY 14 and is fighting for her life in the hospital. She will be home in 2-3 days. Please re-send an invoice and she will pay via PayPal.
oops. I still don't accept PayPal. Re-sent invoice immediately, no response.
Auction ended on July 5.
You know, I have had hundreds of computer crashes over my life, and NOT ONE OF THEM kept me from accessing my email. Guess I am just lucky.

I just got this one: I am away from home for my job so I won't be able to send a money order for at least a week. But, I can send a personal check right away if you will accept it.
I thought you could buy a money order almost anywhere. She was just trying to force me to take a personal check. I told her as long as payment was received within 14 days as per the auction page, no problem.
A few weeks ago, I got an email from a woman within 2 hours of the auction end saying she would be late because someone had stolen her credit cards and check book and she was going into the hospital for a nervous breakdown and her computer crashed and the list went on and on for an entire page full of excuses. Of course during her problems, she continued to bid and pay for other auctions. I had to file a NPB alert, but she paid soon after. She ended her emails with God bless, blah, blah, blah! I hate those . Those who end their emails that way are usually late.
