i dont recall getting emails on shill bidding,if i do,it must not be addressed to specific individual, just in general.
i know congress is looking into it.
shill bidding exists in land auctions .
i know in some cases where bidders get together and bid low and then bid again among themselves privately(not ebay but government auctions say oil leases or land development.
selling fake artwork, fake name brand products such as gucci, rolex and counterfeit bootlegged goods are bad news on ebay.
it is hard to fool ebay now with a different user id ,you have to use a different mailing address, phone line, credit card .
how many folks would let you use their credit cards ??

Well... I've not heard anything from massjoe since I posted yesterday. Not on this thread... or via eMail.

I did forward this situation to the folks at eBay yesterday and they have followed up with me during the night and even this morning... eBay seems very willing to take a closer look at it... but without this users EBAY I.D. or eMail address, there's really nothing further that can be done. (like looking for a needle in a haystack, ya know). *sigh*

If massjoe would like to eMail me with that information, I'd be happy to forward it to someone (else) at eBay who has already agreed to go over things again, with a fine toothed comb on massjoe's behalf.

Dottie: I noticed that massjoe only registered yesterday at AW. Perhaps he doesn't know how to get your e-mail address.

hwahwahwahwa interesting that you think she's e-mailing your bidders. That's auction interference and ebay doesn't take that lightly at all. If it continues you may want to send them proof. You would have to get your bidders (the ones she e-mailed) to forward the letters to ebay. Do you think they'd be willing to do this? Without concrete proof, they won't suspend her.

Dottie, kiawok said you were offering the olive branch. I took it to mean you and massjoe had some kind of disagreement before this. Perhaps you know him from another time in another place?

I sure hope he gets this resolved. Have you talked to this Lilith? Surely she should know who she wrote to on 8/23, which was only yesterday! Unless - all of those e-mails are automations.

JMHO: I do not know this massjoe poster... I only came across the thread yesterday and thought I'd try to help.

I've spoken to others at eBay regarding this... not the safeharbor rep that was corresponding with "massjoe".

It is my hope that someone in management etc. could double check the situation... and YES.... we've thought of that (trying to match up that Safeharbor Reps eMail with an actual user on or about the times AW user massjoe indicated that the eMails from eBay were received).... and if they are able to locate him that way... it is my understanding that someone will let me know.

In the meantime.... that's about all any of us can do. Just trying to help this user out a bit.

Dottie, very strange remark by kiawok then.

I hope someone can help him, if indeed, it's a true story. I can't see why anyone would make up something like that though.

I wish him a lot of luck!

massjoe did contact me via eMail... and it is my understanding that this situation is being reviewed again by some folks at eBay.

It is between this user and eBay, and I do not have any other information about this... perhaps massjoe will return to this thread to let us all know how it works out.

*fingers crossed*

GENDER IS NOT THE ISSUE.
when i read her post,i just assume this sounds like a woman, but i see some of you think this is a man-massjoe??
josephine is called joe too!
in certain categories, there are so many sellers and competition can be so fierce, tactics of ridding competitors can be rather underhanded.

Ebay could put a stop to this practice. If someone uses underhanded tactics in an attempt get another seller suspended, they should be suspended themselves. People would have to think twice before causing trouble....

Josephine = Jo or Josie
Joseph = Joe or Joey
Joe = man's nickname OR slang for coffee

t'was always and t'will ever be.

How can you assume by the posts that this is either sex? All (s)he used was the pronoun "I"

Either way, I still say, gender is not the issue.

kiawok, extending the olive branch usually means offering a peace treaty.

If this was me and I had your physical problems I would be in my lawyer's office looking to force eBay to resolve this problem NOW. I am sure he/she could do this. Perhaps I am being too obtuse. I have friends who are lawyers and would do this just for the expenses involved- no fee. You may not have that luxury, but this is just a suggestion.

Just wondering if legally he can do anything at all, because of his SSDI that he's collecting. I don't know if you're allowed to work/earn money while you collect or if there's a limit.

My lawyer friend told me if someone was collecting SSDI, they couldn't work at all. SSDI says you have to tell them when you return to work.

Perhaps this is why massjoe can't make a legal issue out of this. He would lose his other income.

these days men can wear women clothes, and women can wear man clothes.
i have problem finding good tank tops comfortable and loose, can i wear man tank tops ??of course i will be wearing sports bra underneath?
anyway, can you disclose you are working if you sell on ebay, what if one said i am just unloading my junks from home, even though i bulk load 10,000 items every month??
i have heard of a case of a dealer who is also a tax accountant,he said one of his antique dealer customer just got fined by irs for under reporting his income, irs asked ebay to produce his sales,it took ebay 4 months to come up with the sales figures.
so now what for all of us??

"What now" is that you need to report your eBay income (along with any other income) accurately. And eBay =will= cooperate with the authorities and provide your sales information if requested. I'm just surprised that it took them four months to do it!

If you're just selling stuff out of your closet, you almost certainly will show a "paper loss" when you take all allowable business deductions and price your "inventory" properly.

In other words, about what did it cost new, and what is it worth when it's X years old and used? The IRS will seldom argue with its own figures, which it gives out as a guideline for estimating the value of charitable deductions. If they say a used woman's coat is worth $10, and that's what you state as the inventory value, you're pretty safe. You may sell it for $50 and have a profit, or sell it for $15 and actually show a small loss after deducting eBay fees, photo hosting costs, and overhead expenses.

JMHO2 ..... Yes, I know. It seemed to me Dottie was offering her help/assistance as a go between.
Between eBay & someone NARU'd who obviously feels they were suspended without justification. [in case that's confusing for you as well?]

I'll make sure to look you up when & if I'm in need of a history lesson. Yawn .....

i think massjoe like some indicated SSDI,does not want too much publicity even on this board,he/she could have found a way to continue selling on ebay via other id or through someone else/
one can always asks a neighbor or friend or relative to list the items under their names,or ask them to open another account and use it .
this way, ebay would not know because it will be a deifferent phone line, different mailing address,ss number, etc

Ask them for DETAILED explaination of all the reason & terms used & have them forward the info to your lawyer. They will come up with better info.

You're just not worth the response I had. Have a nice life. (P.S. May want to learn your bible quotations a little more before you misquote again)

hwahwahwahwa

You somehow related to Kiawok? hehehe

What now? Hopefully you'll continue to report all income to the IRS so you won't get in trouble. ebay doesn't give the info to the IRS unless asked. By advising the poster to cheat SSDI is like advising him to steal the money some of us have worked hard for. SSDI is social security disability income. Social security is going broke according to the bigwigs.

As a matter of fact, I went back to reread massjoe's original post and no where does he OR she say anything about being on SSDI. SSDI is for people who have worked in the past. They draw on their own income earned. SSI is for people who have not worked. The first person to mention SSDI was kyriaki. I mistakenly didn't read every word of the post, so I thought kyriaki had and assumed (yep there it is again) the poster was on SSDI when in effect all he/she said was:

"I am also contacting numerous other agencies including disability advocate groups,..."
