I sold something to a coworker new to eBay. Set a record for completion time....

I don't know why some people are so paranoid about people coming to their homes to pick up the merchandise. They have your address anyway - since they normally need to know where to send payment. So if you are gonna run into a kook, whether or not they come to pick up the item is of no significance.

not if you normally use a po box for your ebay transactions...

I've sold to several local people in my small hometown (pop. about 8,000). One was a lady who owns a Victorian home where she runs a bed & breakfast, about a half-mile from where I live; I delivered the item to her and boy did I DROOL when I saw the inside of that house... just chock full of antiques!

I've delivered three items to buyer's homes and had one buyer meet me at my workplace to pick up his item.
