manyirons, that's odd, you previously said, "If it hadn't been for a stockpile of well over 2 weeks we would have gone hungry." So if it wasn't for good planning you would rather have starved than go to a food line. Sometimes you need to swallow your pride and do what's is best.

I think a rather limited Y2K mentality is good. First of all, buying in limited quantities will be good for the economy and help prevent any trends toward a depression.
Of course, living in the country, we always try to have a months supply of food on hand anyway should we for one reason or another not be able to get to town.
A couple of rainbarrels full of water and some jugs of drinking water are always good in case the electricity or the pump goes out. Nothing worse than not being able to flush the toilet! Well, maybe there are a lot worse things but not any smellier things!
Of course city people have different problems but having some water jugs in the closet can never hurt.
There have been a lot of things on the news about blood and money donations. I would hope we could add to that list by conserving energy and gasoline.

No, I said I would rather take care of myself. By always staying prepared I can take care of myself. I didn't say I would rather starve than go to a food line. I just believe if we stay prepared we might not have to.
