afallenangel,

Someone gave me a slight tweak to that javascript that's supposed to cut down on load time. If I find it, I'll pass that on, too. Overall, it basic template really shortened up my ads.

For instance, I put a huge lot of baby clothes together. I wanted a pic of each piece. According the the buyer, that's what sold it.

marc,
That ad was very easy to read. It drew my eyes first to the pic & then the TOS.

OK, since folks seem to be giving some very honest feedback on ad design, I'd like to ask for some.

This is a current auction. The format is one that I've used for about 8 months - and I thought it worked. Lately sales have been down.

Should the image be moved closer to the top?

Thanks!

Larry

Sun818:

"May I suggest you using a valign=top on the left column? It would be nice to see the picture next to the title."

I am not sure exactly what you are referring to. I am using SA Basic and I do not have a bunch of otions to place the picture. My other layout I tried was putting the image at the top center. This would put the description right below the picture.

I use one or two of AW's templates, depending how many pictures I am going to use. I use either #5 with pics down the left side & a light blue background or #4 with the pics on top. This has a light gray background & use html to color & size my print. This makes the ad easy on the eyes. Be careful with you comination of colors. Color blind people can't read some ads. I know, I'm one of them. i.e. pink on green is a good example. I can't see any printing. Take a look at my ads & see what I mean. I agree about having good pics. I do all of mine with a good digital camera, & sometimes I have to retake them, but hey, it doesn't cost anything but my time.

Alwaysbroke, if you find the tweaks, let me know. I'm going to try galleries next time I want to do multiple views of an item.

BTW, Kahml, I like the picture to be before the description and the fine print. Whenever I browse through auctions, I scroll down to the picture first, then I read the description and the rest.

I think a lot of people like to put the picture at the bottom of the page for those with slow connections. They can read while the picture loads.

I believe in the the KISS method of advertising. (Keep It Simple, Stupid)I do use html for colored print & size. I use 2 of AW's templates #'s 4 & 5. If I have more than 2 pics on an ad, I use #5, if 1 or 2, then I use #4. I only put in the necessities: cost of shipping, types of payment accepted & how I will ship. I put in a brief description of the article & thats it. I do not scan anything, but I use a digital camera. Sometimes I will take 3 or 4 snaps to get one I am satisfied with. After all it costs nothing but my time. I use Adobe Pro software which lets me do just about anything to enhance the quality of the picture Take a look at one of my auctions & see what I am saying.
