Thanks guys for your suggestions but I do not want to mail it general delivery and then have the buyer claim he never rec'd it. Since he bid on my auction he should be willing to provide an address.

By the way here is my reponse to his reply:
i dont feel safe giving you my address because i wanna look out for my safety thankyou


I know, it's a crazy sick world out there! I was leary about opening your envelope because I thought it could be a mail bomb or maybe have that bad anthrax powder in it. I was SO scared I actually had the sudden urge to pee on the floor. But after I cleaned it up I opened your envelope and was relieved I survived. I guess since you're too afraid to give me your address, and I'm too afraid to open my door to go to the post office to even mail it, I'll just keep your money.

HOW THE HELL CAN I SEND YOU A POSTER WITHOUT YOUR ADDRESS, YOU STUPID STUPID STUPID PERSON?! What kind of a MORON sends money for something without providing an address? When you've cleared your head of fearful thoughts and plan to rejoin humanity in the real world, then let me know how you hope to receive this order. In the meantime I'll keep working on my super duper telekenetic poster transporter...

I hope your buyers have more brains than this one did.

Yeah this one tops anything I've seen...Email him this:

"Since you don't want to give me your mailing info I will hold your item here until you would like me to send it to you...When you want the item please send me your mailing info and I'll send it to you...I will leave you positive feedback since I received prompt payment, please do the same when I eventually send your item...Thanks for your purchase"...

Then forget it until you here from the buyer with mailing info...

Yeah, what happened after your tactful letter? (Bravo, too, by the way. Some people need a virtual slap, and that buyer was one of them.)

I sent the letter a couple of days ago but have not heard back from the buyer. I am just waiting for him to start complaining that he never received his item and will contact every goverment agency he can think of and accuse me of fraud.

Write him an email back and say to him, if I don't receive your address within 24 hours I am donating your money to Charity. Then in his feed back say that. "Buyer paid, didn't respond, provide address, gave money to Charity. Then send him scanned receipt of his money so he can deduct it from his income tax. That is the only way this transaction will turn out positive. With that in his feedback you have CYA

Bravo? You've got to be kidding. I guess this is one of the ways that the online market is destroying customer service. Suddenly we can throw personal insults at customers without worrying about how many of their friends they tell, since word of mouth won't hurt a business (much) with millions of potential customers all over the world. Does this really make that kind of behaviour acceptable?

If the buyer is an example of the millions of potential customers in the world then I dont need thm. The buyer is a perfect example of the idiots that ebay attracts. Would you want a buyer that bids on one of your items and then refuses to give you an address so you can ship their item? What happens if he wins and refuses to give an address and doesnt pay? What if the item sold for $500.00? If you want to waste your time playing detective and dealing with this kind of nonsense then more power to you. I on the other dont need this type of aggrevation or buyers that have an IQ of a first grader.

At some point buyers like this need to be put in their place. To me it is worth the risk of getting a neg. To you it may seem like poor customer service, but when the customer is truly wrong, then what more can I do. Besides the more time I spend dealing with this guy, takes away from the time I could be spending on more important customer issues.

Put in their place? Why? Because they don't know as much as you do and made a foolish mistake?

Besides the more time I spend dealing with this guy, takes away from the time I could be spending on more important customer issues.

And it takes more time to write a polite response than a rude one?

Why jump through hoops?

I'd set the item aside a deposit the payment and wouldn't do anything until the buyer followed up saying they did not receive their item. I'd then reply that it couldn't be sent because you failed to provide your address and were even unwilling to provide it on request. This would hopefully make the buyer understand his/her foolishness.

Do not make the mistake of accommodating the ignorant. All it will do is cause you more problems and it will deter the person from correcting their behavior.

My two cents after dealing with more than my fair share of clueless people.

I could agree if the buyer gave me his address after asing for it. By him refusing to give me an address after asking him make the buyer an idiot.

If the buyer did not understand how ebay works then he should have asked about the entire concept. If he didnt want the item shipped to his home for security reasons and wanted to bid on my item then he should told me about his situation before placing his bid, not after winning.

You are free to handle your customer issues they you want. I hope you dont get too many people like this bidding on your auctions. We shall see how you handle situations like this after being on ebay for 5 years and hearing every excuse in the book as to why the winning bidder cant pay, lies about not receiving their item when I have proof they did and people can not read auction descriptions or my T.O.S.

Try something where you don't have to deal with the public.
