I am "self-employed" so I can stay home and be chief cook & bottle washer, baby-sitter, and taxi driver (for my kids).
I've checked the want ads occasionally, but they want a person who has great computer skills, use switch board, arrange meetings, be administrative assistant, work weekends, etc, etc, etc, all for a small salary that would only cover my expenses to and from work. Subtract the cost of lunches, office clothes, baby sitters, and paying someone to drive my kids around, and I would be paying to work! Believe it or not, I actually tried it for 1 year.
I admit I don't clear much, but at least I clear something! LOL!

Hello JACK,
LOL!
The only reason I don't make more, is because I don't sell more. I've really been thrilled with my sell through. Plus, I'm getting much better at knowing what NOT to buy for resale! I've also had terrific buyers. On my last batch, all but about 2 paid the same day. All of a sudden, in one day, my Paypal jumped $100. ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching. I was jumping up & down in my little chair here. I know $100 isn't a lot to you guys, but I was already planning ways to reinvest it and pay for some stuff.
I love to buy & sell on eBay, but I do get a lot of interruptions while trying to create the ads. Sigh. Some day those "interruptions" will be gone, and I'll grouse because it is too quiet.
Off topic:
I hope eBay does not run off the little guys like me. I want to continue doing this. Gee, I actually get paid to shop and sell! A dream come true.

I don't blame Jack for his vent. I met him on these boards back in March and it has been a constant battle ever since and I am sure many have read about his situation and "got it" whereas others choose to ignore it.
Back to the subject of self-employment.....I worked for others for years and got tired of all the back-biting by fellow employees, the tattletales, etc. So one day I just decided I can make my own living and I have done okay though it hasn't been easy.
At times message boards remind me of a high school environment. There must be a lot of insecure people or very young people here?

JACK - I enjoy your posts! From what you have been through, YOU ARE ENTITLED TO WRITE WITH A CRAYON EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE ONLY FIVE! Some of us have no alternative but to do what we are doing and so we remain the few, the proud, the self employed. God Bless You All!
