One of my friends was named Elizabeth King. She married Jack Queen, so is now Elizabeth King Queen. I suggested that they name their firstborn son Ace, but she wouldn't do it...!

Okay, I didn't want to do this but now I feel challenged
I had the worst maiden name in the world.
I often tell Mr. Nobs that one of the reasons I married him so young was to get rid of my maiden name.
How would you like to go through life with a last name of Mars!!
I guess it made me thick skinned quite young.
From being a Martian, sometimes My Favorite Martian (complate with sound effects for the antennae rising) and Mars bars (with the nasty boys always wanting to eat some) ... it was NOT fun.
Now my sister married a man with the sur name Politan and I used to tell her she should have named her children Cosmo and Metro. Come to think of it, she got married young too ... must have been that name

I went to camp with a boy named Stormy Knight.
My mom has a good friend named Ima Darling Byrd.
My elementary school art teacher was named Ms. Smiley, and she was really nice. But she got married and became Mrs. Belt, and she became mean after that.

Oh, now listen to this and tell me, is this fair?
My Great grandmothers name was Myrtle~now Myrtle is an old fashioned name and also the name of a lovely plant with tiny delicate white flowers~I love the name. My hubby refuses to consider it as a potential name for child nor pet.
Yes, I know, Myrtle the Turtle with a Girdle~but, is this really any reason to not use a name of such sweetness and victorian sentiment?

When my youngest son was in kindergarten, there was a little boy in his class with the last name of Sippy. One day his mom, Steph, came in to help out for a party that I was helping at and all of a sudden I cracked up when I heard the little kids saying "Mrs. Sippy". It had never dawned on me before!
BTW- I called my sister to tell her the "Michael Torres" one... and when she finally got it... she says, "OH THANK YOU! My paperboy's name is Michael Torres! I'll never be able to keep a straight face when he comes to collect for the paper!"

I used to work with a girl who had some friends with the last name Dahl. Guess what they named their son and daughter? Ken and Barbie! Having gone thru life with the initials MMM, I know what is what like to be teased as a child.

Ok, I wasn't going to tell you guys this, but I guess I will. As many of you know, my name isn't Muriel. It's Penny. And when I was growing up, my name was Penny Pinney. No kidding. I got married when I was 19 to change my name! It was awful. Everyone always says "What was your mom thinking?". Especially now that she's in a retirement home. She introduces me to people and then you see them putting it all together, and they say "You were Penny PINNEY???" Yeah, yeah.
