Hmmm....sounds like you were using someone elses computer and your password was saved....could of been Gator, or maybe you accidently "Clicked On", save my password in IE or another comprable browser?
And if someone did guess your password....it's probably someone who knows you very well.

Wow, sorry mcjane that this has happened to you.
I cannot say this strongly enough. If you have DSL or cable Internet, a good firewall is your first line of defense. There are programs out there that can record your keystrokes and it's quite possible one got onto your computer. I suggest that if you belong to any other sites that require passwords that you change them ASAP. The passwords to all the sites you belong to should be different even if my one letter or number. A firewall can be a PIA with some sites, but the alternative is worse. I don't need spyware hunting programs because my firewall comes with privacy settings and they are set on "high". The Internet has become a very public place. Heck, I won't even undress in front of my computer. I was just kidding there. I'm not really that neurotic. LOL!
Good luck to you, mcjane. I feel your frustration!

excelrye - Nope, none of the above. I don't use other PCs for my Ebaying, I never respond to the phony emails, and I clean my computer regularly using Virus Scan, Ad-aware and Spybot.
Editted to add that I also run a firewall.

Is there a place on the internet where you can find where emails come from? I mean the ISP numbers?
Cheryl I see you and I have the same firewall and I find it so annowing do you? I have a difficult time typing as when I type I don't see the typing until I am all done with it. Makes for having to go back and either insert words or check misspelled words. It seems like everything is jumpy? I am on road runner and that is the one they use. But, this is my first time I have had a firewall so I don't know how they act.
I do admit it blocks a lot of stuff but when I get one of those I would like to know where they came from but since I don't know the routing system I can't find out.
I don't have a typing problem with my firewall. Maybe you need to adjust your settings? I would go onto the Computer Associates web site and see if they can help you to set them correctly or if they have a manual of some sort. I played around with mine for a while before I had it totally figured out. I also don't have the jumpy problem. That could be your ISP. Let me know what you find out.
