1) Ok I signed up for the auto link feature. What time of day does the
autolink run? (It hasn't for me yet today)
2) Is there any limit to the number of free listings per day or for the
week? Ebay allows 1000 per day. So, for example, if I start 1,000 auctions -
will I get credited for $250?
3) When will the credits be issued? On a daily basis?

Good questions--We also had some other questions concerning the free listing week and sent an email addressing these questions
last Friday, still no answer from PayPal
concerning this issue (3 days later)...
Also, now we are wondering what happened to the 24/7 service for business account--does this really exist??
Guess by the time they answer us Free
listing week will be over!!!
So far, knock on wood we have had no problems with PayPal and they have been a dream, also our auction sales have doubled since we have added it to our listings. It has been a wonderful service for us and all of our customers have been more than pleased with it. But,we do believe they need to give some fast attention to their customer service relations area.

gamecock I have had a problem with the Free listing week and just want to warn others of a potential problem with the free listing week.
I listed 100 auctions yesterday, only to find out that I won't be getting credit for any of them. I have the html code for my link to paypal within my auction descriptions. So, the auto update feature will not recognize my auctions, and therefore not credit my account.
Needless to say, I am not a happy camper because no where on the paypal site does it say that having the HTML within your auction will interfere with the auto-update. I called customer service and was told that I could go in and revise each of those auctions and take out the link and then go back and auto update, but frankly, I cannot spend another entire day on those same auctions. I have also emailed customer service asking that the credit be manually put on my account.
We will see what happens. Mainly wanted to alert others to be sure and take the code out before listing your auctions.

I just called the 24/7 business account line and after being put on hold 15 minutes was told:
The overwhelming demand for free listings has caused a bunch of bugs in thier programming to surface and the auto link thing is not working. My guess is that Ebay has something to do with this. The programmers are working on the problem and should be fixed soon. Only a small percentage of people using the auto link feature are having it work for them. If the problem persists, free listing week may be extended for the period of this feature not working. That is what the Paypal person told me.
She also told me that: the auto link feature will work no matter if you already have the link in your template or not. Since it is added at the bottom as additional html, it is not affected. Now if you have already been to the Paypal site and put the link in that way, then no it will not work.
There is absolutely no limit on the number of auctions. (Ebay will let you do 1,000 per day)
The credits will take about 3 business days to show up in your account.
comments???Any Paypal employees lurking here? Is all this correct or was I getting the line from the cust. service rep.?

1) We run it at various times of the day, according to traffic levels.
2) No limit.
3) Credits will be issued before the end of the promotion.
As a reminder, this is for all business accounts only.

Hi Damon
Can you give more information regarding the issue about the auto-link feature working/not working if the html is already in the ad?
Customer service told me that is why I didn't get credit although it isn't mentioned anywhere on the site. They told gamecock that was not the case. So will be issued credits for the items listed yesterday and will the link ever be inserted?
Thanks!

I get a different story each time I talk to someone different. I wish Paypal would get thier story together and tell us straight up the truth.
The last person I talked to told me this:
"In looking at your eBay listings you do have a PayPal logo on your listings at this time. If these were inserted by you manually than the Automatic Daily Updating will see that you already have a logo on that listing and not update the listing, thus you will not be credited the .25 fee. I would remove all PayPal logos from your listings and then start over and enable the Automatic Daily Updating feature."
This is not right! Had we been told this yesterday, I would have taken the link out of my auction template. Now they expect me to go back and revise 500 auctions! That would take a whole day or more. Paypal: Why don't you clearly post the rules of this promotion on your website?
I've been a loyal customer since Paypal first started. I put the link in my template to save me time. Why are you penalizing me?
We are paying a lot of money now for your service with the business account. I don't mind. You need to make money just like I do. But this customer service I have gotten today is awful! I have been lied to and told 4 different stories each time I talk to someone different. I expect better support than this for the fees we are going to be paying.
How much trouble would it be to manually give me a credit for the auctions in effect yesterday? That would be the right thing to do. That would be good customer service.

Well I just got through revising the first 100 auctions (out of 501). Took all mention of Paypal out of the auction templates. Man are my fingers hurting from all the copying and pasting.
I sure hope the Auto-link kicks in tonight and puts the Paypal link on my auctions!
Well, let me go... Only 401 more auctions to take the Paypal links out of!
The @#%$ link is there, does it really matter who puts it there?
I'm really trying hard not to get mad about this. I really am...

Well guess what folks... The auto-link feature is finally working. At 5am pst this morning, the link was added to all of my auctions.
Guess what else, it put the link on all of my auctions, WHETHER THE LINK WAS ALREADY IN THE TEMPLATE OR NOT! Even the ones I had not changed yet. This is something I tried to tell Paypal cust. service that it would do yesterday. But no, they said if the link was already there, then it won't work. Well, they gave me the incorrect information again.
I'm happy now, no more auctions to go back and change. Now I can spend my time listing more stuff.
Paypal really bungled this whole thing up. They need to inform thier tech support people what is really going on, so they can give people the correct information. This situation has really left a bad taste in my mouth concerning Paypal cust. service.
We are paying a lot of money now for this 24/7 support. You'll be able to hire some people who know what they are talking about and can give me straight answers instead of this runaround.
Oh well... life goes on... On a positive note about Paypal - At least you can talk to a live person unlike the even worse customer support at Ebay.

Congratulations Gamecock glad to hear your auctions got the auto link added----now if only they could get it to work on some others, I have one auction out of everything I am running showing the auto-link WOW!!! explain that, as for the rest of my auctions it is now Wednesday and no auto link on any more of them....I have called (and yes got right through they were very nice, emailed, etc.....still NO auto link. I have had no
problems with PayPal (this is the first and at least it is minor just annoying when I could have put it there myself with no problem) myself and our customers are very happy with the service, but they need to get this fixed since we now have to pay things should work correctly.

The auto link feature adds automatically depending upon traffic. In most cases, it should add fairly quickly.
No limit to the number of listings.
Credits will be issued as the information comes in and as quickly as we can process them.

I'm very pleased with the speed that my Paypal account was credited for the free auction listings.
The auto-link put the links on my auctions around 8am est and I had a credit for $184 on my Paypal account within a few hours. They even issued additional credit to make up for the 1.6% so that you get the correct amount.
Things are starting to look a little better with this free listing promotion. At least thier billing department seems to be on the ball!
Now let me get busy posting auctions... only 2½ days left...
I'm happy now... Thanks Paypal!

Hi all!
I must have missed the boat on this one. Is there a link you can post about the free listing and the payments for having a paypal link in your auctions? I did a quick look on the paypal website, but didn't see anything about credit for links etc.
Thanks!

You can not sign up for a busienss account if you already had an individual account, and cancelled it. The email remains in the server at Pay Pal as a "security feature" so they say. So, if you already registered an email, then deleted it- the email remains in the server. Hence, you can not even sign up for a business account using your original email account as it will state, "that email is aleardy in use", which it is not. It ghosts the email address to imply it is in use. Pay Pal is loosing money on this by a glitch in the program. I've called it in 5 times and the people in Ca. offices need to get it fixed as there are many complaining per Pay Pal reps. It was unclear in the description when adding on an email address as to where the checks for that email would go. I goofed and now can't resign our sister store up for a Pay Pal account with that email address. I can't change it, since that would mean changing our eBay email as well. Stinky!
