OK, I know right off the bat that you can check all the 016 and have them fixed.
You do have some things that need to be fixed.

scan and check all the 016's and have HJT fix the two above while I check the unkown ones out online.

Alright that is done.
Some of that stuff looks like it just downloaded when I was doing the pitstop stuff and such.
I just want to be able to scan more than 1 picture or list more than 1 or 2 auctions without my computer being so slow I have to reboot.
After all of this stuff is removed do I need to reboot my computer to make it 'fixed'?

posted on January 3, 2005 07:31:25 PM new
ps make sure you go to CONFIG on the right hand side of HJT and it's checked by default but make sure make a Backup is checked.
Fix this one
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1
The others don't show up as having to be fixed other than this one up above. I have no idea what these files below are but after pages and pages of Googling on each one they never say remove them.

Yes reboot and rescan after you fix all of those.

So far it's okay. I haven't tried to do anything else yet though so I dont know. I'm almost afraid to because when I actually start doing anything it slows down.
Should I run Spybot and Adaware tonight?

I posted your log at BleepingComputers.com for someone else to look over it also in case I missed something.
I run SpyBot and WindowWasher daily. Did you also download and install (runs within SpyBot after it's installed) JavaCools SpywareBlaster? It's a GREAT program to have as long as you update it. It keeps the nasty web pages from opening up.
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
PS it won't hurt to run clean disk and defrag again. The good news is that it won't take as long this time.

Helga...Does your scanner stay on all the time? The reason I ask, is it looks like your scanner software is running in the background. It only needs to be running when you are actually scanning. If it's babysitting a bunch of tiff images, that would consume a lot of resources. The software for my HP scanner only runs when I manually click to turn it on. My digital camera software loads on bootup and runs automatically in the background, but so far I haven't noticed it slowing anything down. If it does, I'll just shut it down till I'm ready to transfer pictures.

Hi
Yes my scanner is running all the time ~ it's also my printer which I do use a lot. It's one of those 2 in 1 things.
I try to delete the TIFF images after I change them to jpeg but maybe I've missed some. I'll go in again and make sure.

Wel things are weird today.
My computer ran nice for 3 hours and wham slowed to a crawl.
So I restarted it and thought well 3 hours is great, I can do a lot in 3 hours. That time it lasted TEN MINUTES until it was so slow.
I defragged again last night and you were right, it didnt' take as long.
Running fine right now but I've only been rebooted for about 10 minutes.

Helga,
As flattering as it may be, why are you going to an ebay user board for computer help? The response you’ve received here is sincere and everyone really wants to help you. However, checking the wrong box in HijackThis can remove parts of Windows that can completely disable your system. You won’t be able to get back online to ask for help!!
It’s completely possible you have a malicious software virus (malware) that regenerates itself after removal. Thus, you can delete it with AdAware all you want and the malware will only reappear. Your symptoms point in this direction.
I don’t know the “BleepingComputer forum.” They could be great, but strongly suggest you go to: http://forums.thatcomputerguy.us/index.php?showforum=21
1) Read a few of the threads and you’ll see what your up against.
2) Register on the site. It’s safe and will take one minute.
3) Click the “Read First!” thread and do exactly what it says. It will then direct you to post your HijackThis log where one of their experts will help you.
4) Follow all of their advice to the letter and let us know how you make out.
