I was suspended from eBay and PayPal this week. At PayPal I was put on a limited account status. They wanted all kinds of info from me for what they called violations of there user agreement. I have faxed and complied with all the info that they have asked for. I have approximately $399.00 that is frozen in my account there. I can not get to this money. I am awaiting to see what they will do with my appeal.
At eBay that have informed me that I have a FPA NOTICE B001: eBay Registration Suspension. What is this? What are they telling me? They say that I must resolve any outstanding complaints ? How can I do this? I have emailed them twice but no response back yet? Not sure exactly what the complaint is. I do have an idea but am new to this auction business so I do need help and advice. I just want to resolve this.
I think what happened is that I posted a phone system on eBay from a drop shipper (Premier Products). I sold one. Transaction went smooth. Problem is I sold another one. Went to Premier Products and they are out of stock. Not only are they out of stock but they have discontinued this item for good. Of course my customer pays with PayPal. I inform the customer that I can not get the phone and tell him why. I offer a immediate refund or tell him I have other phone systems on eBay if he is interested (All phones were Buy It Now, non were auctioned items). He opts for the refund. go to PayPal and refund his money. I use the pay/ buy area there to do this. I later am told by a customer rep at PayPal they have a separate area for refunds. I know this now, not then. Before I sold this second phone I had posted a message to this ad informing customers that this item was out of stock. I did not know how to close the ad. I have since learned how to do this. I sold two more phone systems. I told these customers the same thing. They both received refunds the same way through PayPal. The last guy gave me a negative feedback and some not nice email. I am sure he filed a complaint with both eBay and PayPal. What can I do now? How can I resolve this? I tried to do the right thing, but I did not know how to do it the best way. Please advise.

Where to start?

What yer saying is that you launched auctions without much knowledge of how they work...

What yer saying is that you used PayPal without much knowledge of how to use the program...

What yer saying is that you employed a drop-shipper, and the very idea of OUT-OF-STOCK came as a complete surprise to you...

What yer saying is that you're either extraordinarily naive, or yer extraordinarily full...

I'm truly sorry for yer mess, but, if I were you, I'd settle up with PayPal, settle up with yer righteously po'ed customers, and then STAY AWAY from online auctions until you take a course from SalGal () or ask an experienced eBay seller to take you under their wing and smack ye upside day noggin a few times...

The really sad thing about virtually all these programs is a very simple concept that never dawned on me...

If ANYBODY can sell, that means EVERYBODY & EVERYBODY'S UNCLE is selling the same STUFF!

Yes, it's pretty obvious NOW, but twasn't when I dinna know nuttin (last week?)!

Have any of you seen the infomercials for "get rich on eBay" They come on late at night. Some Power Seller (?) is selling a system to teach you how to do it. Yeah, right. The only one who will get rich on that deal is the guy selling programs.

Gtootie,
Got trapped by one last night. (GRQ on feeBay). Couldn't find the remote and was too lazy to walk across the room and turn the TV off while I was working.

I glanced up from time to time to hear people saying how they raked in $5K in one week selling on Ebay. What they did not say was how much profit they made on that Feebay. No mention of all the fees they paid or how much their inventory cost!

Sure there was the occasional, "I bought this at a garage sell for $2 and sold it for $200". But they don't mention how many of their $2 gs finds cost them $10 in multiple listing fees (are you listening Salgal?) and how , in the end, they find out 3 months later that between their item costs, feeBay fees, PP fees, etc... they ended up oweing a huge ebay bill and there is no money in the PP account to cover them.

PEOPLE! If the successful guy is selling his "secrets", that means his market has dried up and he is NOW willing to tell you about the good ole days!

The winners in the game are not going to tell your their secrets until the other smart guys have figured it out on their own.

But I'm beating the dead horse here... I think there are still people trying to get rich quick with Amway and Mary Kay.

Drop shipping is always a bad idea with internet sites that involve feedback. Shippers are either too slow to fill orders in "Internet-time" or they're out of stock. Either way they are nothing but trouble.

Of if they are in fact a good drop-shipped (There MUST be a couple) then there are going to be hundreds of people selling the same thing that company sells. Secret sources don't last long on the Internet.

I sell new merchandise on all the big sites. And you know what? I mostly get it from distributors. But the difference between me and a drop-shipping, is that I put the cash up ahead of time and actually have the merchandise IN-HAND before I list it. If I find something that sells well, I'll buy a dozen of them. But I always have them in-stock first. If you BELIEVE in your product, you'll be willing to make the investment.

Find a real product. Make something if you have to. But forget the "make-money-for-doing-nothing" drop-shipping concept. There are just too many people failing at it everyday and giving honest sellers a bad rep.

Yo, Re-Tread:

There are BAD drop-shippers, but there are also EXCELLENT drop-shippers...

Yer blanket condemnation doesn't really fit...

The ones that offer the same sad Chinese garbage out of a catalog called (how original is this?) "The World of Products" you can basically write-off as worthless

But, after extensive sniffing & investigation under the direction of Mr Boston Red Sox Ralph, we have relationships with about 5 drop-shippers (both vendors & manufacturers) who are...FANTASTIC as they:

1) are rarely out-of-stock +
2) ship the same day, or next day after payment receipt +
3) charge no phoney "drop-shipping charge" or phoney "membership" +
4) provide EXCELLENT after-the-sale SERVICE to my buyers!

Drop-Shipping alllows Ralphie to offer $150,000 of inventory without ANY investment (other than FEE-BAY)

So...

You are going to have to talk to ebay and PayPal. I assume you can no longer access your account to see if there are any outstanding disputes? Be honest with them and admit your mistakes and see if they can forward you copiers of complaints on file so you can resolve.

If you can still get into your PayPal account there is a place to click on, "disputes", that might give you some information.

Even though you did not refund the "correct" way, you can still find a record of your refund in "History"->"payments sent". If you can't access this, call paypal.

The important thing is that you let your buyers know that this was a mistake and not a "bait and switch" ploy - I assume that is what they are upset about if you have refunded the money.

Someone around here has ebay's telephone number - maybe they will post it for you.

You sold 4 phone systems and received payments for all 4 via Paypal.
You were able to ship one and rest were refunded .
You think one customer filed complaint with Ebay.
Now you are suspended by both Ebay and Paypal.
Have you left out something, does Ebay have a policy to suspend a seller based on one bidder complaint?
And does paypal restricted your account just because you have been refunding your bidders??
let us know if there is more to your story!
