It's been awhile since we had one of these threads....

I sold a postcard to a national tv news anchor (the only one worth watching) a couple of months ago. He was very gracious and everything went smoothly - thank god!

Yeah, Neglus, who was it?

I have never sold anything to someone famous. I sold some pins to Lacy Peterson's cousin and her Mother wore one on a TV interview once. And during the election, I sold pins to some staffers of a couple of Senator's and Congressmen.

I have never sold anything to anyone famous that I know of, but an exciting one for me being English myself, was selling a figurine of a Beefeater, to an actual Beefeater in the Tower of London. I also sold a tea set to a museum of Anne of Green Gables author.

Oh yeah! Hey! Ralphie! Remember when ya sold some pencil lead to Bob Dole, & you were all worried you were gonna get stiffed? But everything got straightened out in the end, remember?

ME? Hey! Blame it on da DOG!

amber: those guys sure put on a great show at the TOWER -- they're all real HAMS, and do a wonderfully gruesome job of describing the history of the TOWER. Interestingly, they're all retired military fellows, living in quarters right there on the grounds!

I'm not sure. I saw one of our scarves on a woman on the View last week. She was talking about baby furniture and gadgets for babies. Maybe and maybe not!!

Also had to hand deliver a couple dozen red scarves to LaPrairie (Cosmetics)on 5th Ave. for a promotion they were doing at Saks and Bloomingdale's. She wrote in the afternoon and we had them there the next day by noon for the promotion the following morning at 9.

Not lately, but when I had my shop, I sold an antique wash stand to Tom T. Hall's wife, a set of 50's pyrex bowls to Tom Pru-due's (?) niece (she said she was going to give them to him for a birthday present). I was also asked by an Entertainment tonight film crew to comment about OJ Simpson while he was in PC playing golf. I replied NO COMMENT!

When I was traveling for business, I flew a lot. Sally Fields once shared her champagne and on another trip I sat next to Jay Osmond.

In the early 90's I even found myself sitting between a bunch of old rock singers talking shop. Really stuck my foot in it when I asked them if they played for anyone I had ever heard of. They asked me if I had ever heard of a group called Paul Revere and the Raiders? Seems I was being entertained by all 5 of them. Oops!

But that was not as bad as when a friend introduced me to Jerry Garcia and I did not have a clue who he was until the band started playing, lol.

ltray- I would have known who Jerry Garcia was, but who is Tom Prudue?

Edited to add - I don't think I've ever sold anything to a celebrity.

Sold a bunch of old optical stuff to Universal Studios. thought it was cool. One item was a eye chart that went for around $200.00, go figure?

Recently sold an id badge from AC Motors (Michigan) to a guy in New York he was in our local news later that week for the history exhibit he's creating about AC, that was weird.

No real celebs that I know of

Couple years ago, sold some things to Heidi Fleiss, the Hollywood Madam, (noticed her ex-boyfriend/girl-friend beater, Tom Skidmore, was in the news this week).

Sold a Boxing related item to the pugilist producer at ESPN ... but since ESPN doesn't do many stories about the world of boxing, I don't know what they wanted it for, but they bid it up to almost a hundred smackers. LOL.

A few years ago,I sold an item to a lady in Iowa. The delivery address was the Iowa Governor's office. I've also sold a couple of things to famous authors. I've had three or four items deliver to movie studios in Southern California.

Nothing lately, but I did once sell three copies of a book to George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino and Quentin's mother.

Apparently they were thinking of doing a movie based on the book, and it was getting hard to find. They didn't do the movie, however ;(

Cherished... Knew I should have looked that up before I posted. I totally mispelled and misprounounced it! Chef Paul Prudhomme from K-Paul's in Louisiana. He had fame before Bam!Bam! Emeril made a hit on TV.

Also in the days before Ebay and before my shop, I had a really cool movie projector that was in its original crate. I acquired it when I bought my first ever "whole house estate". Darn thing weighed close to 80 lbs and I just wanted it out of the garage.

Some guy bought it for $150 and called me a few weeks later wanting to know what else I might have. Turns out he did props for a Dallas movie company and had rented(!) it out for a film for $250. It was later used in a museum display.

From the same estate items, I also sold a 1st edition (1910) of the original Boy Scouts manual to the director of the Bowling Green KY Scout museum. Weirdly, the national museum in Dallas had a fire shortly after that which destroyed much of their collection.

On ebay, I have sold many things to people who do window displays, but nothing as exciting as the good ole days...

No celebrities that I know of, but I have sold to government officials (like undersecretaries of certain departments) - Okay, far from a celebrity, but as I am a political news junkie, I've actually heard their names before. Also sold to the head of tickets at a major league team (I know this because they had it delivered to the stadium, so I looked up the person at the website) - Won't do me any good, as the team is 2000 miles away....

Not to anyone whose names are readily recognized, but I sold to a couple of artists, Albert Guibarra and Buster Simpson, the Mayor of Vancouver, WA, and several museums, including one for auto racing and one for the US Gov't Int'l Border Crossing / Immigration.

As far as I know I have not sold anything to any one "major" but I have sold things to "has-been" and one hit wonders. The company I deal with works directly with celebs (sports, music, tv and movies). You would think with the money they make they buy
the goods like everyone else. No, they want everything free!
