Wow profe, very cool! Do you call this 'Southwestern style' or is more 'mission style' ?
Love that stuff, we bought our Mission dining room table, and it is old. Now we need an old Mission china cabinet to match!

It's sometimes referred to as Monterey Mission. I think it's more accurately described as Spanish Colonial Revival. The Monterey branded furniture was made by the Mason Manufacturing Company and sold exclusively by Barker Brothers Furniture in California. It was made from the 20's thru the 40's or 50's, although the most sought after pieces are from the earlier years. I found that chair in Barker bros. catalogs from '29-31, but not after. They came in a number of colors and finishes, and most had hand painted decorations. Here's a shot of the back panel on the chair:
The definitive book on the subject is "Monterey: Furnishings of California's Spanish Revival", by Roger Renick. He's the recognized authority on the stuff, his website is at http://www.renickarts.com/
I grew up in a houseful of the stuff, and only a few years ago began to realize how hot it was for collectors. A lady from Texas came with her husband to pick up a horse they bought from us, and when they came in the house she about dropped her teeth. In typically uncouth style, she wanted to buy my dinner table and buffet right out from under me! That's what got me looking for pieces at barn and ranch sales around the area. It's getting pretty scarce now, about like real old mission pieces are.

I love that style! I've not seen any of it here on the East Coast - but you can bet I'll keep my eyes open for it now!
