Mike,

Then they've temporarily ended the restriction. For some number of months now, you could not cancel with fewer than 12 hours to go.

ON A SEPARATE NOTE: I don't want to get too excited, but for the first time today, I could click on the Research and Feedback links without bouncing out to a login. That's progress!

***Sign-In Issues Recap***

December 19, 2005 | 05:03PM PST/PT

During the past few days some members have experienced problems signing into eBay. These issues are now resolved – but I want to give you an overview of what happened and our response.
On Friday evening, we needed to roll back some code that was inadvertently causing sign-in issues for a very small number of members. To fix the problem for these members, we automatically required all users to sign in upon returning to eBay. This morning, the volume of sign-ins created traffic issues resulting in slowness and intermittent unavailability of the sign-in feature.

We recognize the inconvenience this caused, particularly at this busy time of the year. The eBay technical teams have worked around the clock since Friday evening to restore full site functionality. We’re confident this issue is now resolved, and we thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,

Gary Slater
Director, Site Operations

He hasn't a clue has he? Site slowness is not the issue - it's signing in on a UNSECURE site, it's signing in every time you turn around.....that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read!!!

One side benefit of this Brouhaha---NO ASAQ's are coming through!! YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

AND it is STILL going on ... if it is resolved, then I shouldn't be needing to sign in at every turn ... all morning, afternoon, and evening long today ...

and yes, the sign-in pages i keep being put at, do NOT have the https: (secure)

I contacted their "live help" Here's what happened:

seller: I signed in and can't edit or create new auctions.

ebay rep: Please be assured that we are aware of this issue and we are working diligently to correct this for our members. I would like you to know that the information you have provided is being sent to our engineers for further investigation. Your patience is appreciated while we work to correct this.

seller: so you are aware of the problem then

ebay rep: yes, and we are working as quickly as we can on this

And on and on and on.... Sounds like ebay has a bunch of energizer gremlins instead of energizer bunnies.

I hope someone is archiving the Announcements page. eBay has a funny habit of deleting previous Announcements that later show it to be lying between its corporate teeth.

sign-in issues for a very small number of members.

No matter what the event, it always affects a "very small number" or "only a few" members.

Oh Gee,I was looking forward to a 10 FP listing day this week. Don't guess E-Bay can handle it. Looks like the Grinch has taken over.
