1. Posters who correct other posters spelling.

Not paranoid anywhere else but here!

Good morning, all.

I'm going to have to change my posting (and sleeping) habits and start tuning in later in the evenings.

I'm not sure if my post on page 1 was being laughed at or laughed with

No matter, as long as everyone is laughing, then either way is just fine with me.

As the fabulous Patti LaBelle sang: "I Got a New Attitude".

Actually, you received a very nice compliment
from Krs!

I notice that you spelled every word correctly too.

Bingo Dec3, you win this morning's prize LOL.

etiquette could be a touchy topic. One person's cup of tea (smilies or huggies or whatever) is another posters cup of Drano.

krs, check your email!

enchanted,

It appears that we are in desperate need of
your services as the minister of Etiquette in the new church of Chat Board Wisdom.

However, you may be taking on more ministries
than you can handle. We must be fair.

Helen

Edited to correct spelling. My brain is
beginning to deteriorate.

Femme is Minister of Exceptional Insight. At least that's the way I read it.

Enchanted,
Re; the krs position...We have this charismatic fellow with future ex-wives waiting in line,
a fellow with all his facts straight and ducks in a row. Now he should
be the head of our belief system when we decide what that is to be.

I will be the Minister of the Treasury.

Mybiddness,

Thanks for your effort to start a list.

Now, I will be busy preparing a proposal to be a
part of the faith based, or rather religious
based and Community Initiatives plan.

That should be an easier task.

nah I'm not jealous of femme, she has high standards to live up to now and that means a lot of work

stusi, where the heck are you, you're supposed to be in here bickering over (1) thread derailment and (2) debating the founding principles of our new religion

KRS' statement was very accurate in describing the accuracy of your insight, FEMME. You understand the RT and the nature of chatboard posting as well as or better than anyone here and expressed your insight clearly and concisely.

But you also bring up a very good subsequent point. Ambiguity, intentional or accidental, abounds in all conversation. The written word is especially subject to over-analysis and tortured interpretation. So unless someone is searching for insults, as may be the case in the instances that stusi noted that were on the increase lately, the wisest reaction, as you have indicated, is either to just laugh at something or to ignore it.

Seriously though, I think that if we could somehow supress the proliferation of split infinitives the world would once again be the harmonious, peace-loving paradise that it was intended to be.

i was just perusing the latest threads and came across this one. it looks amazingly like one i started yesterday. but that couldn't possibly be, as i had requested that thread be locked about 24 hours ago. enchanted-thread derailment is an interesting concept. where does it begin and trolling end or vice versa? re: the founding principles of the new religion- if a group of people wanted to start a new religious movement could they do so without a deity? could it be founded on principles alone? i don't really want to turn what was a serious, then not so serious thread back into a serious one but i just thought of this question as i read your post. it would be ironic if the mods locked this now!

You're a good sport, stusi.

"Church of Chatboard Wisdom"

I like it! I like it!

If we could get Enchanted to bend a little, I suppose we could have a chicken as our deity.

That's not really too farfetched, considering we have an atheist as the organizer of our new religion. LOL

hi stusi very good question

personally I don't believe that a religion has be centered around worshiping a deity. It could be centered around many deities, a single deity or no deity, merely a code of behavior or ethics that the adherents profess and strive to follow. Tax favored status as a non-profit organization is an added benefit of organizing a religion.

to me religion, faith and belief are all different concepts.

sorry stusi for distorting your thread beyond all recognition, it was meant with only the highest respect, I promise not to bicker with you.

Hi Antiquary,

Alas, I don't even remember what a split infinitive is anymore, with apologies to my excellent English teacher.

I have often thought over the years, that I could use, and would enjoy, a refresher course in English, especially sentence structure.

Hey femme!

Oh, I don't think that you split any infinitives, but even if you had, neither I nor anyone else here would likely notice or care. That was just a general comment, meant to be ironic, about the strange things that sometimes people seem to develop into grievances or stretch beyond any reasonable proportion. I should have added an , however.

enchanted-no apology or promises are necessary. i think it is time for a group hug. if only pareau was here now with an appropriate graphic. what would be the first principle you would suggest for a new religion not based on any deity? p.s.-i am curious to see where this thread is going to go. it seems to have a life of its own(or a least a religion of its own)!
