I'm really not a collector...BUT...I have a serious and costly weakness for Vienna Bronzes. Animals...not Arab figures.

Hall China, in the Radiance pattern with no decals. The pale yellow color mostly. Also, mini Hall teapots as well in any color.

toke,

While at a show a few years ago, I almost lost my head and considered purchasing a pair of Austrian bronze, tennis-playing cats for my sister's birthday.

She is a tennis fanatic.

Thank goodness, I came to my senses before writing the check.

Muriel - You too? I keep mine under the couch, they seem to like it there.
But they do escape and roam the house on occasion.

Gemstones...preferably large in size and set in a precious metal so they can be worn and shown off.

Figural inkwells.

Art glass.

Contemporary pottery.

Pistols/Rifles (hubby)

Vintage hats (moi)

Harrison Fisher prints, if the woman is wearing a gorgeous hat.

But, our major collection and our real passion is...WOMEN.

Anything that has an image of a woman on it, from the Victorian period through the Art Deco period. The Nouveau and Deco periods were the best for using images of women on so many things.

Statues; prints; flatware; powder boxes; bookends; plates; hand mirrors, etc. You name it; if it has a woman's image (especially in relief) on it, it will excite us.

If you saw last night's Antique Roadshow, the framed Wagner art plate was something that would interest us.

Hmmm. femme...

I have a superb terra cotta bust of Katherine Cornell, dated 1927...that might interest you. The sculptress is listed in Benezit. Very much of the period.

njrazd,

Me too. I have a 50 carat, emerald cut Amethyst ring in a beautiful setting I found at an antiques show years ago. But, diamonds are my real jewelry weakness.

toke,

Yes!! Those are the cats.

BTW, if you have more than 3, you are a collector.

To add: Oh, and insanity isn't always a
bad thing.

Yes, Chepi...

Yet another sad tale of the Internet. All I ever wanted to do was support a friend. Of course...she begged me.

Ever a sucker...I succumbed. Alas...I quit in spite of myself. I swear...I didn't plan to...I didn't want to. She made me do it.

And just look at the sorry results.

I collect just about ANYTHING Disney. I've tried to limit myself to the more upscale figures (I'd give my right arm for the Fantasia globe/figure where Mickey is standing on the top of the wave and there are small globes on the other wave points).

About 6 months ago I got bitten by the Pocket Dragon bug. I've started a nice collection, but I always want MORE!!

Chepi & femme...

No. I think I was the only one. And I was the only one that wasn't really trying.

I'll come to the thread March 1 and tell you why I think it worked for me. You need to keep in mind though...I am NOT normal...
