Well,10 days ago I have an item with a starting bid of 9.99 ended at 666 dollars, the high bidder is a 65 years old man from a nursing home.
I know it cant be real,so I emailed him and said I would sell this item to him at 50 dollars and I would need his co-operation to explain to Ebay and reduce my FVF.
I never hear from him,so I filed a dispute with Ebay.
Then I proceeded to close the dispute choosing the option that I would never be able to work with the bidder so I want my FVF now(the default option is that transcation has been completed and no FVF fee granted)
Due to some glitch either with my PC or Ebay, the default option went thru and of course I did not get my $22 FVF.
I emailed Ebay and received a canned response saying sorry,be careful next time.
So,I emailed Ebay back saying I am not going away until I get my 22 dollars back.
(of course I did not swear or curse them)
I also used life help and the staff agreed to refund my FVF.
SO,just now I received an email saying they have refunded my $22 AS A ONE TIME COURTESY and it will never be done again!
See,you have to be persistent,$22 is not small sum,I can list 25 listings with that money.

hwahwa: Surely for someone to win the bid at $666, someone else must have bid around $665? Did you offer it to the second bidder?

The second bidder seems to be fascinated with things which are in 'pair'
and will bid high to get them!
I have been on Ebay long enough to read their mind,if I tell them the high bidder is not paying, they either lose interest or figure I will relist and they can get it for less, say the 9.99 starting bid!.
So I offered the item to her at 50 and she took it,a STEAL compared to 651.

I was surprised a 1960 zoo elephant postcard was at $22.50 this week. Sure enough,a frazzled buyer said he meant to type in a bid of $9.50 but entered $950.00 instead. I canceled his bid and watched the auction go down to $6.94. Now I see it's back up to $20.50. The canceled bidder was nice enough to rebid - low enough to let the other bidder win it, but high enough to get the guy up to his maximum. I hope this isn't seen as collusion - I never asked him to do it.
