You may want to also check out Arizona Charlies.

Smaller hotel/casino, but not out of the way.

We're home! We ended up spending the Saturday night at Palace Station ($109 for 3 on Saturday nite) but decided that "cheap" might not have been the best way to go after all (though I did like the penny slots at the Palace). It was too dang HOT and we were all very stressed and cranky. We moved to the Red Rock resort in Summerlin on Sunday night - lovely. Not cheap but well worth it. No coffee in the rooms but it did have big down comforters with CLEAN duvets (no filthy bedspreads), and a telephone and tv in the bathroom. We spent the day by the pool today on padded chaises right in the water. It's been several years since I've been to Vegas but the strip didn't impress me at all - too much walking and again, too dang HOT! I loved downtown - all the neon signs and bright lights reminded me of my Vegas postcards. Fremont street is covered and the air conditioning from the casinos really made it pleasant walking. Out daughter will be living in Summerlin - mission accomplished.

I think the cheap rates apply only to week nights - weekends are pretty expensive all over. If we do a Vendio roadshow, I vote for weekdays!

Hi Neglus,

I was in Reno helping with grandbabies while one had eye surgery so didn't see your post in time to offer suggestions.

But, it looks like everything worked out fine.

I agree about weekdays and anytime but July. It is just miserable here this month

What school will your daughter be teaching in?
