I understand where you are coming from glassgrl. However, don't you think that your message (and it was beautiful) would have been best given to Tom in a personal email and not on a public board where it was liable to cause embarrassment for him?

There is one board member who can tell you that selling your eBay name or feedback is not feasible. eBay can give you permission one day and snatch it from you the next.

... true statement (actually they snatched it from me 7 days into a 10 day listing, after they'd at first given me the permission) poof!

tom... ralphie... luv you thiiiiis much. (that's a lot)

A personal message may have been the way to go, but I am wondering if Tom would have had the same reaction?
I feel it is a great way to look at things, but when you are feeling badly it is difficult to get into that state of mind.

Davidsmom - I think I know Tom well enough to know that he would have taken glassgrls message so much better in a personal email. I'm willing to be he's not only hurt by the comments made on a public board by glassgrl, but very embarrassed as well. There are some posters on this board who's comments he readily ignores. I have a feeling that glassgrl is not one of those posters.

Tom, if you are reading this . . . we all still love ya!!!!!!!!! We do, we do, we do. You, too, Ralphie. Take care of your daddy now!

I don't know any of the parties personally, but maybe glassgirl was only trying to help and thought maybe a message on a public board such as ours could be helpful to some of us others, as well.
I can understand the way Tom feels though, and now that I have thought it over, you are right, though insightful it should have been done through a personal email.

I have a thought. Alot of people on eBay are wanting the names of some reliable drop shippers, perhaps one of your friends could compile this information for you and they could sell it on eBay for you and put the money into you PayPal account.

This way you are not asking for charity if people buy your knowledge of selling on
eBay.

Also, perhaps someone could take you to a local church for help. Churches always have resources on places in which to get help.

Hope this helps.

i know i know - I thought about a personal email. but because there have been some negative people already - I really wanted us all to come together to help tom. and not just money. ideas. inspiration. just a kind word or two.

I think we all learn from this board. no matter what the subject is - we never know when we might need the information we learn.

It wasn't so much of the fact that a friend (and really it wasn't so much a friend but just someone I knew from where I worked before I got laid off) brought me groceries and money that pulled me through - but that before I'd always thought my "good" came from either my by then ex or my at that time boyfriend - or rather what I then thought of my sources of good. I didn't realize until I manifested for myself out of the blue (or so I thought) the help I needed. That was what kick started me into believing in myself.

Remember tom when you found those rabbit plates at a thrift shop and they sold for unbelievable amounts of $$? How did that feel? Wouldn't that be great to feel that way again?

I would gladly trade places with tom if I could and spare my daughter what she went through and the thought of what I wasn't aware of and that I could have saved her from.

I just know that there is a solution for tom.

Who was it that said you can't solve a money problem by throwing money at it? Dr Phil? Suze Orman? It's true though. There is something underlying the money problem and it's spiritual - not physical.

This is not about just tom - it's about all of us and how ebay has changed and how we live. What ever happened to bizzy? We haven't heard from her in long time either. She was going through a lot of the same kind of things - trying to get her ebay business off the ground and make a living.

what affects one of us affects us all.

Awe, glassgrl. Well said. We all love ya, too! I post on a couple of other boards, but there are only two where I think people come together for one another. That's this one and the eBay jewelry board.

I just have to take us back to this. The problem, in that instance, is that the seller did not retain an attorney to make arrangements for the sale. Or, at the least, if the seller had given proper written certified notice, and been grated written approval by ebay legal, there would not likely have been any reversal by ebay.

There are times that an email, or telephone call will just not cut the mustard.

Bill - I think Marcia will tell you she did have written approval. eBay simply changed it mind, like eBay so often does. Who has the money to fight eBay?

We are getting further off topic. The discussion of ebay interference in the sale of an legitimate business, which operates on ebay, is best left to another topic on another day.

Can you hang on until then? Perhaps you can avoid borrowing on the proceeds.

Bill K: you said:
"Can you hang on until then? Perhaps you can avoid borrowing on the proceeds..."

THAT was my plan, and why I was hoping to build up a little buffer by coming here, where just about my only friends (excluding ole CHUNKY-BUTT) are, and begging and groveling for a few loans...

I get the impression quite a few other people are under financial pressure right now. I'm on my way to a check express for a loan myself, don't have the money to pay the bills due in the next two weeks and my car is broke down. I'm only thankful I do have a job and will be able to pay the money by the time its due. Hope E-Bay picks up this week.

THANKS for your kind concern!

Lurking Lady (a very GENEROUS lady who lurks but wishes to remain ANON)...

...who have enabled me to stay afloat this month -- we don't have to worry about rent again until 3OCT....

I had hoped to build up a buffer for Ralphie and me with loans, but that idea fizzled...I just have to hold on until PROBATE clears (before end of year) and then I can pay back all these KIND FOLKS...

The PAIN MGMT situation is a real mess...This is a bad time in US history to be a CHRONIC PAIN patient...
