Cheryl, I'm not doubting you but here's another possibility: are you worried about a phone call? About news you may get or a call you have to make? I had an extremely lucid dream once when I was trying to quit smoking. Neglus came and woke me up and asked me if I wanted to go outside to smoke. I told her I wanted to, just let me go to the bathroom first. She said no, we had to do it right now or I would lose the chance. I started crying because I really had to go. That's when I woke up and made it to the bathroom pronto. There's a good Wikipedia article on lucid dreams and false awakenings: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream#Reality_testing

Oh, pixia, I have those dreams when I have to use the restroom at night! Dang this getting old!! Usually in the dream I'm trying to find the bathroom. I finally wake up and have to run down the hall. I used to have very vivid dreams when I quit smoking, too. That was 1 year and 9 mos. ago. Still smoke free! You and Neglus have to be a hoot when you get together! I missed out on having a sister.

I do have pets. A bird who lives in a cage and a rather dumb dog who cannot get into the bedroom. He sheds something awful (husky and shepherd) and I won't let him in the room.

Marcia - I'll do that Saturday night. I have to get up tomorrow rather early in the morning and take the granddaughter to the eye doctor and then (as you know!) will have to hunker down for the remainder of Saturday! We have a real doozy of a storm coming. I hope you and Tom are prepared!! So much for my girls night out Saturday night.

I know that nobody has asked me for advice, but I have to tell you that Detrol-LA was an enormous help to me. One tablet at bedtime is all I need, and no more of that nighttime urgencies.

There was a time when I lived in New Orleans,a spirit will come at night.
I bought a new PC and I left the carton and styrofoam packing in my bedroom and in the middle of the night,it was opening the box and removing the styro foam, the noise coming from 2 pieces of styrofoam rubbing against each other is rather annoying.
It also like to play with things which hang, like the cooking utentils hanging on the wall.
After I moved to Houston,a few days after I settled ,I was sitting on the floor and all of a sudden I have a feeling something familiar has filled the room.
I looked up and saw a shadowy figure staring at my PC monitor ,and when it moved away,I saw it has no legs, the bottom part of him was like the angel you hang on Xmas tree,a triangular shaped skirt.
If your spirit has the habit of coming into your bedroom, then anything interesting he may explore,if the phone is placed elsewhere,he is not going to look for it,you see what I mean,he is not looking for the phone,he is looking for someone in the bedroom.

cats and dogs can see spirits, but they may not care, dogs may bark and cats may walk up to the spirit and gesture.
There are all kinds of suggestions of getting rid of the spirit like a dish of garlic (they dont like the garlic odor),spreading cayenne pepper on the floor, some incense I dont remember what it is,crystal cleansed in rain water, penecostal church said rubbing olive oil around the door frame as it would disintegrate the spirit form, cover all the mirrors and shiny objects as they amplify energy.
Have you attended any medium or spiritual meeting, sometimes spirit will follow you home.

niel - I have a cockatiel (sp?). We're expecting a very large, very strong snow storm! Up to 12" tomorrow and also sleet and freezing rain! I'm in Cleveland, OH.

hwahwa - Oh, what a pleasant thought. LOL! Hopefully, the spirit is looking for Ken. Perhaps I'll banish him to the couch to see what happens. Ken, that is, not the spirit. I'm not really afraid, just annoyed. I love getting my sleep. I've seen things here, too, and so has Ken. He once saw a small child at the end of our bed (about 8 years ago) and for the longest time, there was a room in our home that my granddaughter (she was about 1) refused to enter without being dragged kicking and crying. That was right after Ken saw the child. The room she refused to enter was a very small room that we think was a nursery or child's room at one time. This house was built in 1905 when they had rooms like that.

My dad lives in Port Charlotte, FL. You may have seen me write about that. I also have a brother in South Carolina. They were all wiser than me. I stayed up north. Ken wants to move to CA.

I might have mentioned this before? (but that won't stop me here!) Close friends (he was a mining engineer) lived in Taos NM for a while in an old house called the Tony House. It was built by Mabel Dodge Luhan when she married an Indian, Tony Luhan, and she built it for him. Strange things happened in that house; there was a room my friend's son had, which was always very cold & eerie. The animals wouldn't set foot in there, and even the straight-arrow mining engineer husband who doesn't believe in funny stuff confessed that he hated to go into the room.

That's interesting, Roadsmith!

I know a lot of people get "creeped out" over things like this. I, for one, take some comfort in it. If it is all true that means that there is something, someplace other than here and when we do pass on, we somehow continue on. I like that idea.

Just like the end of the Haunted House ride at Disneyland.

I always get the short ugly one riding in my Doom Buggy.

I was serious about lucid dreams. Best way I can describe them is that they are midway between the awake world and the asleep world. Mine include the episode I mentioned in previous post, when I thought I was awake and wakened shortly afterwards, as well as episodes in college during finals week when I had frequent out-of-body experiences, arising and looking down at my sleeping body. They are quite rare, and although I am prone to them and consider them a nuisance, my ex was extremely jealous and spent many hours dream logging, trying to achieve them. In my experience, they occur in times of turmoil, when I am trying to resolve things in my sleep.

Cheryl, it's either a dream or a weird phone malfunction. Or perhaps some very alive human being is playing with you.

When it starts flying across the room, then you can join ghostbusters.

Why dont you list your phone on Ebay,I bet it will get good bids.
Like that guy with Ghost in a Jar,he planned on selling newsletter, videotapes and getting interviews on local station.
Oh,souvenirs too!

I think the suggestion that you list it on eBay is fabulous. Think of the description you could write!

I do a lot of reading about ghosts and seances because we collect spirit photographs. I can't say that I am a believer but sometimes I wish I was because that would make the research more interesting.

I did have some interesting Ouija board experiences when I was in college and I am convinced that I have had several instances of mental telepathy with my husband and my best friend.

I don't want to start a fist fight in this bar, and I think I've posted enough positive things to avoid being called a troll, but am I the only one around here surprised at how many people discuss ghosts as though it's a foregone conclusion that they exist?

Color me surprised!

If they do.....why?

They don't seem to serve any purpose.
