At gregsbooksandstuff. I can hardly wait for the day that I can't retaliate with some negs for him. No contact whatsoever. What a schmuck.

Ebay will have to re-evaluate their position on the one way feedback. Either that or everyone's feedback will gradually slide towards ZERO. This guy should not be able to wreck my nine years of feedback in one day. Way too much power for the buyer. Schmuck!

Look at his track record. He has 27 negs as a BUYER!! That is incredible, but soon he will have no worries. He is can neg away with no accountability.

I hope that we all complain to eBay every time we get an unwarrented neg. hopefully they will get fed up with all the emails and do something about it!

Record collectors can be very picky, which is exactly why they should not bid on albums that have not been graded.
"Schmuck" is too kind.

This feedback system is terrible.
Zippy: Do you have a link to a record grading system? I just found two albums of very old 78s at a shop and want to explore that world.

"This guy should not be able to wreck my nine years of feedback in one day."
Come on, wrecked it in one day? Did he bring it from 100% to 0%?
I'm no more a fan of the feedback changes than anyone else, but I'm also not a fan of people making WAY too much fuss about a negative. Get over it.

mcjane...not only can you RESPOND to feedback left...also use the FOLLOWUP option.
They are both in your FEEDBACK FORUM. Works great if you have a little more to "comment" on.

To Cashinyourcloset,
Perhaps negative feedback doesn't matter to you. It does to me and you will just have accept that. I take pride in my feedback rating and HATE to see it sullied with 5 negs and 5 neutrals in one day. I will not get over it as easily as you suggest. Thanks.
To everyone else, thanks for your replies.

If your Feedback is so important, contact Square Trade and spend some money. The cost is $29.95 for their mediation on each item.

pepsi.thanks for the info. At least we can make an attempt as defending ourselves.
drgah, a neg is just part of doing business on eBay & it's bound to happen to all of us eventually. You just have to put aside something you have no control over.
Your FB is far, far, far from being wrecked, cash is giving you good advice, let it go.

Many of my negs were undeserved, but many more negs were deserved but never left. I actually felt relief when I got my first neg. Maintaining 100% is a heavy burden. Edited to ask: are there any avenues left for a buyer to withdraw feedback? If so, you may want to contact him and ask him what it will take to make him happy.

Why do sellers pay $30 to Square Trade when eBay will do the same thing through Mutual Withdrawal for free?
Are their mediation services really that good?

That only works if the buyers agrees to mutual withdraw, they certainly don't all agree. Negs are far less of a problem to buyers than they are to sellers.

Perhaps I should have worded it nicer, as Pixiamom and McJane did. My point still stands, that you are giving feedback much more power than it intrinsically has. OF COURSE I took pride in my feedback, and it was always high. It was never perfect, just as so many things in life are not perfect. For that matter, it is not as though yours was perfect; you had been deflowered previously.
I assume that you have enough volume to get it off the front page of feedback quickly, and you can respond to it so that anyone looking at it understands the context (and it's actually convenient that there are 5 negatives, as this gives you more real estate to respond it).
Anyway, whether or not you think it is worth thanking me for, my advice is still to get over it and go about your business.

Hey neighbor I am just down the road from you in Maple Grove MN! Just a few things to ponder:
By "no contact" I assume you meant he paid, you shipped, he was dissatisfied but did not let you know prior to leaving negative FB? Or did you mean he was a deadbeat, did not pay or contact and then gave negative FB.
If this is due to the former, I would suggest that you make a simple matter of fact comment at each negative stating that buyer did not contact you to resolve any issues and there appears to be a language problem. If it was the latter, your comments should state the circumstances matter of factly: BUYER DID NOT PAY. MALICIOUS FEEDBACK.
I took a look at your listings and I can see how you might get in trouble with them. You do not describe condition of the actual item you are listing and ask the buyer to use images to judge condition, yet your images are blurry and have reflections from your camera flash which may or may not be a scratch. Your images do not show the whole vinyl. Why not take the time to describe any visible defects and then use a statement like you have not played the album yourself to cover yourself for defects you may have missed?
When I consider that Frenchy had to pay $18 to ship to France (did you combine his wins?), I can understand that he might be upset if he found the vinyl less than mint when it arrived. I don't understand why he didn't contact you, but then again, since the largest part of the price was shipping, what COULD you do?
I have always found that specific and accurate descriptions make for happier buyers and less hassles down the road. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

Hi
We all know how upset you feel we have all been there
None of us feel good when a buyer leaves a neg that was not deserved, but I guess we all better get use to this happening more now then before.
Like Cash said, "you can respond to it so that anyone looking at it understands the context (and it's actually convenient that there are 5 negatives, as this gives you more real estate to respond it)".
I use to get upset at the beginning when I knew I didn't deserve the negs, but you know what, after lashing out at some of the buyers through emails, I began to realize we do our best to make the buyer happy and if our best is not good enough for some then I realized just let it go.
And when they contacted me to have the neg removed I would say no, I want my neg to stay so yours would stay also and everyone would see the way you do business.
At least we can still respond to a neg ...hope they don't take that away from us also.
Ebay just wrote to tell me I am not a power seller anymore....I took a month off and did not work hard enough for the other 2 months so i'm punished. A few years ago this would have made me upset but now I don't feel a thing. The way Ebay is doing things they are making me care less and less each day.

Judging by the feedbacks left, this buyer was being honest.
He/she left you positive feedback on many items and negs on others. This tells me that you didn't have very good descriptions as Neglus suggests. Saying the picture is your description just don't cut it. Sad thing is if you took only another 60 seconds to add the condition to your text that is already in your listing, you could have avoided this problem.
If this buyer was out to get you, then they would have left a negative on all the items. Not just on the items that were sub-par.
Sad thing is you left retailitory negatives. This is exactly the reason eBay is taking that option away from sellers. This buyer did not deserve them. Shame on you!!! The title of this thread really should have read,
"Mean USA man wrecks frenchman's feedback."

I figure I have a neg coming in the future and just don't care. Supposedly it will effect our ranking and our discounts and could effect powerseller status (and thereby discounts).
So, I raised my prices enough to cover both. My stars are taking a beating on the international shipping. I had a museum in Czech Republic give me 0's I think. I couldn't translate their email, but I went from a 4.9 to a 4.6 in 24 hours. Oh well...that's ebay.

Food for thought! Does he pay with Paypal, adding insult to injury by casting a negative and claiming not as received with Paypal to get his money back. Yikes!!
Thanks for the ID name. I blocked him from one of my clients that I sell LPs for him.
